4th & Inches

4th & Inches

The original megahit from Accolade™. Team Construction Disk add-on is included for full team customization options!

4th & Inches paved the way for modern football games with robust play-calling and team management options, plus satisfying action that puts the player at the center of the on-field play on offense and defense. This classic remains a blast in games against the CPU or with a friend in local multiplayer.

Welcome to the pros, rookie.

So you were an All-American? Big deal! This is pro football, baby. It’s time to put down your press clippings and start buttin' heads with the big boys.

4th & Inches gives you all of the hard-hitting action of real football: the bombs, the blitzing, the goal line stands. You’ll experience graphics and animation that are as powerful as a blindside hit.

As the key player on defense, you’ve got to have speed, stamina and smarts. As the quarterback, you’ve got to read an unforgiving defense that takes no prisoners. Winning at 4th & Inches will take all the moves of a #1 draft choice plus the tactical genius of a veteran head coach.

Remember, this is the big time, hotshot. This is real football. This is 4th & Inches.

I would like to write this review mainly for the developers in order to assist them with the development of their game. I think this game is a gem especially for older people like me who miss the good old days of kick off, which is now abondonware software, from amiga 500. However, I think the developers are not hitting the sweet spot for people like me. Below are a few suggestions for the developers to take into consideration.

1. In the current version, the story mode is a good start. I think you can make that story mode amazing by incorporating the aspects of the “player manager” game from the Amiga 500.

I’ve been into football games since Match Day and Football Manager on the BBC Micro. I’ve played a few since then: Kick Off, Player Manager, Sensible Soccer, Kick Off 2 and Goal! Although I never really got in to FIFA or Pro Evo. I was after a more old school footie kickabout game I could enjoy with my friends. So from the end my Amiga days until now there is a massive gap in my football games. I have never really found anything as good as Kick Off or Sensi. Then I heard about Super Arcade Football on Steam Greenlight.

A faithful homage to the Mattel handheld of 1977. There are some gameplay tweaks here as well as some concepts borrowed from Mattel’s “Football 2” handheld but overall this is a lot of fun to play and if you enjoyed the original from the 70’s you’ll probably like this version too.

Cute game but the controller locks up on the computer opponents first series. Also there is no selection to pass/run like in the old coleco version. During the opponents first play, it just crashes and gives and error message. Hope the devs will fix it! I have received no response to my post about it on the discussion page.

edit: The devs contacted me today with a response to the problem. They say they will look at it. It’s good to know the devs care about such things!

Ballsy! World Cup 2020

Great little footy game, enjoyed it so much so far. If you are fan of Amiga’s or C64 football games, retro look will warm your heart. Ballsy! plays smooth and after recent update, without any issues on Linux. I highly recommend this game.

Fun little arcade soccer game. Reminds me of something retro like the original fifa for the sega genesis or something like sensible soccer but has some nice tight controls that make it fun. Liked the AI and felt the teams had their own personality in their style of play. I play short little games to just take my mind of things. World cup is short and sweet, maybe making this game online would give it more longevity. But I would recommend for any soccer/football fans that like that arcade feel (no fouls or throw-ins keep the action going).

Play it !! Love it !!

Some time ago, The FA had his 125 year anniversary!! During that, Football Manager honoured that with a retro 19th century screenshots of a supposed Football Manager 1888. At that time, those screenshots receive a major feedback. Everybody asked if it was possible to go back in time. Nothing happened until now!

So, seeing the work made by this guys, the only thing i must say to them is: thank you very much!!

The amount of data, players, and history of this game is so immense that for a guy (like me) that like old retro-vintage english football history is perfect!

Don’t waste your time on this game. For football fans yearning for days gone by, this game promises much, yet only manages to deliver frustration and disappointment.

First of all let me say that this game is early access but it is two years on from release. I wouldn’t expect the game breaking bugs I’m now going to detail to still be a problem but they are.

Sometimes, after playing a full season and looking forward to developing the team you’ve spent a full season putting together, the game will crash on starting the following season. The crash will be saved into your game so no amount of reloading will ever let you continue on into the new season. I started again with the same team in the same year and a week of real time later the same thing happened again.

Another update to the game, another update to this review!

TLDR: My play time speaks for itself. It’s very fun with a TON of replayability but it does lack a few features at the moment (but that’s going to change in the future once more updates release)

Pros:

-Loads of customization (players, teams, stadiums, leagues, jerseys, gameplay sliders, coaching strategies, and even playbooks as of the most recent update)

-Great gameplay

-Customizable Season Mode with full custom league support

-Share your custom leagues/teams and try out others' (albeit not via workshop)

The game is very simple right now, but it’s super fun to play. I’m really looking forward to the planned features.

EDIT: The Headhunter mode just released and it really adds to the replay value of the game. The mode allows you to “lead your favorite team through a 4 game, single-elimination tournament while racking up points using a fantasy football-style scoring system”; and let me tell you, that extra scoring system makes the game so much more fun than it already was. You can compare your scores from your own Headhunters runs and with your friends runs. I’d imagine the game’s Discord server would be a great place to do it: http://discord.gg/dSuMe5w

90 Minute Fever - Football (Soccer) Manager MMO

90 Minute Fever - Football (Soccer) Manager MMO

90MF is (still) a text-based MMO Football-Manager-Sim.

1. What are you doing in this game?

You choose your team name, dress colours, emblem (easy to import) and the time of the day/night at which you wanna play. (For example Late evening Football association = LEFA = 8pm-10pm UTC) Then you should be online at this time if possible. If you miss a match you still have 24 hours to play it, if the opponent is there tho and requests to play, the match starts without you. Then you miss the chance to make substitutions and/or tactical adjustments.

Real player with 5133.4 hrs in game

[EDIT] As of Oct 2nd 2020 I’ve given the game a second chance given the “massive” overhaul that was announced by the game devs. The game is actually in a worse shape than when I left. The match engine is still not up to par and even MORE features are now locked behind the subscription paywall, like being able to upload your club’s logo or have access to the whole “manager skills” RPG nonsense.

If you want to be even remotely competitive in this “competitive” game you NEED to have an active paid subscription. This is NOT a free-to-play game by any mean. [END OF EDIT]

Natural Soccer

Natural Soccer

For years I have been looking for a simple soccer game to replace my SWOS and Total Soccer addictions, and although Addictive Soccer, Throw In and Yoda Soccer have been decent attempts they weren’t quite what I was looking for. However, last year I came across this beauty and although it had humble beginnings (the generic blue team vs the generic red team) I felt this could go far. And it has…

It’s a great little game which you can pick up and play for a few minutes for a quick fix, or take on a league if you have a spare couple of hours. The gameplay is the old cliché - easy to pick up and difficult to master - and it can also be very challenging, often leaving me wondering how the AI cut through my defence with such precision.

With the newest update, 1.4.0, i finally feel comfortable giving this game a solid positive review. Before the update, i was not on the fence as to weather it was a good game or not. It still is and was a good game, with amazing support from the developer, who actually gives a damn about his product and the people who purchase it.

However, the game felt a little lacking. I felt less control than i would have liked. I dont mind hard games and challenges, but i also dont want to feel cheated by the limitations of the simplicity of the game.

Still as painful as the Newgrounds version .

Basically, it’s the same game with the same levels and achievements.

I am willing to support but, i don’t think anyone from Brazil would pay R$8 for Ultimo Soccer.
