Super Arcade Football

Super Arcade Football

I would like to write this review mainly for the developers in order to assist them with the development of their game. I think this game is a gem especially for older people like me who miss the good old days of kick off, which is now abondonware software, from amiga 500. However, I think the developers are not hitting the sweet spot for people like me. Below are a few suggestions for the developers to take into consideration.

1. In the current version, the story mode is a good start. I think you can make that story mode amazing by incorporating the aspects of the “player manager” game from the Amiga 500.

I’ve been into football games since Match Day and Football Manager on the BBC Micro. I’ve played a few since then: Kick Off, Player Manager, Sensible Soccer, Kick Off 2 and Goal! Although I never really got in to FIFA or Pro Evo. I was after a more old school footie kickabout game I could enjoy with my friends. So from the end my Amiga days until now there is a massive gap in my football games. I have never really found anything as good as Kick Off or Sensi. Then I heard about Super Arcade Football on Steam Greenlight.

AFL Evolution

AFL Evolution

It’s rough around the edges but with tweaking of settings you can get the feel of watching or playing in a real AFL game. It has some frustrating features but in all fairness, as my hours played shows, I have gotten my moneys worth of enjoyment from this game.

Coach Career mode is what I have played and enjoyed the most.

Even there. some things need tweaking by the Devs. Clubs patience with a new coach should be softened, no real life bottom ladder club signs a new coach and expects them to play in a Grand Final or even finals in their first year. Also, AI clubs should, I feel, be much more agressive and less accomodating come player draft/trade time.

So my first few hours of experience goes as follows:

“I started a couple of practice matches to get the hang of the game.

First practice match was AFL Women’s team Melbourne Demons VS the Under 18s team NT Thunder, in which the women won comfortably over the kids.

After only two matches I felt I was getting the hang of the controls, so I started a career mode. I created my character, a 28 year old 5'7” Right Half Forward playing with Gippsland Power in the Under 18s TAC cup.

A few games in, and everything was feeling too easy, the controls were getting pretty intuitive. Bump up to medium difficulty, and that seems to be decent, yet still easy enough to learn for now.

Dino Dini’s Kick Off™ Revival - Steam Edition

Dino Dini’s Kick Off™ Revival - Steam Edition

Dino Dini’s Kick Off Revival has taken a lot of stick over the last year after the PS4 release, In my mind, largly due to a misunderstanding of what the game is. This is not a football simulation. Kick Off Revial tries to capture the essence of football in an arcade style game and put the player in full control of what happens on the pitch.

This means the ball does not stick to your player.

Passing direction and power is not assisted

You can run in any direction

Height of kicks and shots is player controlled.

I played the original kick off for a million hours when I was a kid and i have so many fond memories of it that I was a bit dubious about this remake (especially after reading the reviews).

But I took the plunge and I’ve got to say, I think it is even better than the original!!

The same lightning fast gameplay and natural feeling controls - even though it’s still one button, I think the controls are much more refined now with an analogue controller.

A warning though - you need to practice…a lot!

The game just got released, so not a lot of players are playing at the moment but i hope the number of players increase in due course of time. A few suggestions -

  1. Include new modes such matchmaking (1vs1, 2vs2, 3vs3 etc ) instead of just having lobbies.

  2. Include ranked match making and introduce ranks.

The game seems a little overpriced.

Overall great game and a lot of fun to play !

Street Power Football

Street Power Football

A few things here. First, it’s nice to see a Street Sport game again. It feels like it’s been too long since we’ve seen a solid attempt at bringing this kind of fast action, arcade style sports title back. Second, as much as I did enjoy my time with this, how are there so many oversights and it still sells at a whopping $50? Anyone who grew up playing the original Street series knows that playing with controller is the way to go. And yes, the game supports controller. But no, it doesn’t give controller button mapping in it’s interface and tutorials. This huge road block might be enough to discourage new players from sticking around. Figuring out the controller scheme on the fly is NOT fun. Especially when you consider all the game mechanics at play here. Tricks, shooting, passing, Panna (which is humiliating your opponent in a rhythm-based minigame) are all extra challenging when you’re programming your brain to press a certain button aligned with the onscreen key prompt.

Street Power Football has a lot of ups and downs. The different game modes are fun. The music and art style are great. However there are a lot times where i feel like the game doesn’t live up to the price it sets. Animations can be tough at times and there are some jarring visuals with the Green screen presentation of Sean Garnier.

There is a lot of fun though to be had, but i would say be cautious. You may not find exactly what you’re looking for here.

Supraball

Supraball

EDIT: I just can’t recommend the game right now due to the lack of players. When the playercount increases to the point where you can fairly easily get into a game with people at similar skill levels to you I’ll remove this edit. Just bear in mind the low playercount if you’re considering buying the game.

EDIT 2: Since the game is now free there’s really no reason not to try it. As of 10th September 2017 the playercount is such that you can pretty quickly find a game, and if there are empty spots the bots are pretty reasonable to play with.

Been playing the game since almost 5 months now. At first it’s difficult to get used to all the controls, but that problem disappears after a few days/weeks. Supraball helps with your aim, quick thinking and team game (well, only if you’re willing to play in a team).

The community is as much of a pro as a con: you can find friendly ppl and toxic ones too. The higher-lvl players know each other (at least by usernames), so it has that ‘big, dysfunctional family’ feeling to it once you advance to a certain lvl.

Ball 2D: Soccer Online

Ball 2D: Soccer Online

This is a nice game to play with friends. Its simplicity and physics are good, and the variety of modes is great. I feel like this game would get even better if it had BOT players, since not very many people play this. If BOTs could get added, I would really appriciate it. The same thing with Head Goal ; BOTs would make that game even better too. To others who are wondering whether or not you want to try this out, I recommend that you should, and to the developers, thank you, and keep up the good work!

Ball 2D: Soccer Online is a beautiful masterpiece.

It is a game that has shaped the world and our current existence in which we live in. Unusualsoft has done the impossible, and has created a new genre, a new GAME, that has taken the world in it’s hand, and saved it from the destruction of humanity. It has taken people with wide open arms, and showed them to true greatness, in which some people thought not possible. This game has shapen what we have come to expect from video games, and has set the bar so high for modern games, that nothing can keep up to it… except for maybe Ball 3D: Racing, Soccer & Sports. This game has changed my life, and i hope this game can be brought onto all current consoles and mobile devices.

Ball 3D

Ball 3D

Ball 3D: Racing Soccer and Sports Games, published in 1203, marked a new age in game design. In the past, many games only focused on small parts of game play. This is seen in games such as: Tekken, where it soly focused on the fighting aspect, or in games like Mario Bros, where they focused on platforming. However, in Ball 3D they broke this sort of thinking and forever changed gaming forever. The game focused its attention to all aspects of the game and excelled in each one of them. Ball 3D is one of the greatest games of all time and this is seen in its gameplay, lore/story and it esports scene.

This game is legendary, I have often said that too much detail in a game can destroy it, this is a perfect example of what I mean…

What this game lacks in detail, it makes up for in mastery…. the game is extremely easy to play and very basic when it comes to it but when you are up against people of equal skill and who have a footballing brain (sometimes passing back can result in getting forward easier) this is when the fun is second to none.

There’s no attributes in the game, which means everyone is equal. You are able to pay money, but it’s only for celebrations and cosmetics.
