Noctropolis

Noctropolis

If I was to sum Noctropolis up in two words, I would say it’s “beautifully one-dimensional”.

Initially I planned to give somewhat of a tentative recommendation based almost entirely on the game’s gorgeous environments and striking atmosphere, but as I went on playing I found that beyond that there was nothing there for it. The writing is abysmal, and even if I tried to look at it through a more tongue-in-cheek lens so much of it is just empty. It’s not an amusing kind of bad either (like “Rise of the Dragon”, which is another point-and-click game that puts style over substance). There’s no sense of weight to this world that ironically enough fleshes itself out only visually, but has absolutely no other substance to it. It’s completely hollow of personality, of characters, of emotion or of any real world. It’s a beautiful backdrop of nothing.

FMV game that has been Enhanced properly.

Whenever we tend to visit our nostalgic old adventure games to reply them , we fear going back to fmv games (full motion video) because they are a pain to get it to run properly in the modern os and you can always expect them to have bad elements of adventure games aka lack of humor, death , miss a item and you get stuck forever, horrible acting in fmv etc.

So i came across this game Noctropolis Enhanced edition and had the same fears starting to play it but then , it set itself apart.

Battle Star

I played almost 40h and want to keep going. As a f2p I like that you can get all the characters without spending any money. The graphics are good, sounddesign is catching and the turnbased combat is right up my ally. The only thing I might add is the option to change gear during missionselection. Other than that I would also like to see a male character who talks more (srly girls are not in shortage but where are the men?). That aside, the combat is exciting and story interesting (at least for me). I do love me a good grind (I did spend more of less 70% of my playtime grinding ressources) but that might not be the case for everyone. You can take it ez though. I recommend you try it out for yourself. Can’t wait for more exciting updates. ;)

Summary: This is a pretty awesome game if you like SRPGs!

Story: It exists. It’s not great, it’s not terrible, just whatever. Pretty generic anime-esque stuff, a group of female fighters trying to take down the evil bad guys.

Artstyle/UI: Very good! The characters are clean and distinct, the attacks are flashy without being over-the-top. UI is tight and shiny, and easy to navigate. It’s anime style in the artwork, but chibi “big head” characters in the actual gameplay. It’s not distracting though, it’s very cute. Some character artwork is sexualized with huge cleavage, but compared to a lot of games of this stripe, it’s not over-the-top. Many characters are just badass/cool without being scantily clad.

As a lover of Dragon Ball, I really enjoyed playing Ultimate Wall Defense Force!

It’s an anime style tower defense game, and your main goal is to defeat all of the enemies before they destroy your tower. You play as a powerful character with several abilities to defend waves and waves of enemies. I found flying around to be super fun, and the large number of abilities to use to kill your enemies really nail the power fantasy of what it would be like to be Goku.

There are even boss encounters after each level which I found very engaging and challenging.
