The Parrot That Summons Demons

The Parrot That Summons Demons

Once the pet of an evil worshiper… Now adopted by an unlucky family!

The Parrot That Summons Demons is a family tragedy/horror FMV game featuring a surprisingly deep, dark and unsettling story by the creators of Bloody Service .

  • Cinematic Experience: Horror Visual Novel with full FMV support.

  • Multiple playable characters: Play the game from the perspective of any of the four members of the family.

  • Multiple Endings: Unlock every possible ending to understand more about your new pet and… Well, demons.

  • Innovative Inventory System: Slots used to keep items may have an impact on narrative outcomes.

  • What would Freud say?: Alexander McCauley is modeled after the father of three members of our studio (yeah, we’re six people and three of them are brothers!)

The game is currently in development and this demo features two small chapters from Samantha’s timeline. Full game is going to feature multiple chapters for every member of the McCauley family.

Out of Oblivion

Out of Oblivion

Showed a lot of promise, there is a a part of the game where you have to survive a horde of zombies - which seems near impossible to accomplish. Save your money.

I can recommend the game. Good horror atmosphere that keeps you in suspense. The story could be a bit better but it is quite fair for this price.

Totally recommended.

And it only has one flaw.

That being about locating a grave. which happens to be, by far, the hardest thing that the game requires you to do… Twice. You cant even auto-navigate back to it once you have the candles.

While I was able to find my way around it eventually, I think it took a lot more effort than it should. Some people would have given up. I think even a pictorial guide would be justified. Anything that could raise awareness for this project, since the announcement is only made in-game for those who finish it. This is a game that deserves to be seen. Showcase a longplay of it, if that is what it will take to raise public interest. They were able to pull off a great result with a micro-budget. Imagine what they could offer with a full game.

Decent introduction of this FMV Point & Click, set in Vienna.

This game is the free first chapter of a bigger game. On the 24th of August the two persons developer launched a kickstarter, with this as demo/proof-of-work. I will spoil a big part of chapter one’s story, because this is an introduction. If the genre is something you like my advice would be to just play it. It takes maximum of two hours.

A strange lady…

Markus (or Marcus) has violent nightmares about a historic woman, while in Vienna there are daily reports of ladies being murdered.

Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins

Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins

I hate to say it but this game is incredibly boring! I’m mystified how it has such a positive rating. I was really looking forward to it, but it’s a series of slow placed chats between clicking around the phone and being spoon fed with a yellow button that lights up every time you need to click on the page to send it to the person chatting with you. There’s no real investigation or putting clues together, but tedious clicking, interspersed with a bland, overly dragged out story line.

If you think you’re going to be getting video chats or other real time interactions with the Doctor or the angels, or fast paced exciting events, this is not the game for you. (The trailer for this game is extremely misleading to the point of false advertising. You don’t go anywhere that I’ve seen. Instead the game uses the back to front method of tell don’t show by getting others to do interesting things and telling you in a couple of lines what the found.) Instead think of waiting for the next bubble of text to come up (it’s on time delay to simulate someone typing which is seriously annoying) from some random you don’t know, and then picking from 1 to 4 pre-written answers to “text back”. Yep, that’s it. Read, wait, click. Rinse and repeat for the rest of the game. There’s occasionally a voice message to break this up, but some, particularly Mr Flint’s, are painfully over acted and not particularly interesting either.

Ghost blood

Ghost blood

You can do a lot worse than “Ghost Blood” as far as horror games go but on the whole I’d struggle to recommend it. The gameplay loop involves finding key items to open up new areas to find more key items to solve puzzles - rinse and repeat. It doesn’t do anything remarkably bad but it’s quite confusing and you will spend a good chunk of your time playing wondering aimlessly around trying to find the next item you need to progress. Although the game seemingly encourages exploration, if you wonder off the beaten path the game will spawn an insta-kill zombie on you and you will be forced back to a checkpoint. Do you want me to explore or not?
