Raid on the Zone

Raid on the Zone

Been playing this a couple of times now, and I’m very fond of it being so close to the original Raid on Bungeling Bay, even though it has been enhanced with more intelligent AI, which also makes it a bigger challenge. I haven’t beaten it yet, but I’m going to! Lots of good gameplay and replayability. Recommending this for everyone who likes to shoot stuff and have fun!

I really enjoyed this game as it resembles the old Raid on Bungeling Bay, which I have enjyoed a lot as a kid. The game is hard but loads of fun! :) Highly recommended for anyone with a trigger finger.

Cosmic Cat

Cosmic Cat

This is a pretty bare-bones shooter. Things move pretty fluidly, but beyond that there’s little variety in play.

The biggest irritation is that, even with a basic game like this, the developer clearly didn’t spend any real time bug-testing anything. Your number of kills never increments, and since all of the achievements are based upon number of enemies destroyed, it essentially breaks all of the achievements.

Beyond that, if you die and have to restart, it’ll call the wave you’re playing “level 1” again, but it will keep the difficulty (in terms of planets you need to destroy and enemies chasing you) at the level you were when you died. I can’t tell if earned power-ups from before still apply (i.e., roguelike), or if these are reset (which would make starting a new game at the difficulty level when you died especially unfair). It’s hard to tell because the power-ups don’t have a very significant effect (I assume you need to collect a LOT of these before they make any appreciable difference).

Challenging enough, I like the cat pilot destroyer of worlds.

D.E.E.P.: Battle of Jove

D.E.E.P.: Battle of Jove

D.E.E.P. Battle Of Jove is an epic, fast, arcade-type campaign-based dogfighter that aims to take next-gen graphics & controls to achieve an experience that gamers have known since Star Fox: an easy to pick-up single player shooter where players chose from different ships they can upgrade as they take the role of one of the members of the rebellion in a fight against a power, deep AI.

FUN:

If terminal velocity is your thing and barrel-rolling is your middle name, DEEP is what you’re looking for. Shake off enemies tailing you by doing a loop, maneuver thru giant space constructs near Jupiter or rocky corridors planet-side, use your homing missles to target the next enemy while speeding past your ally mothership.

THE DEPTH:

Choose from different ships that range from the speedy scout, the tank-like Crusher or the balanced Raven. These ships can be upgraded and customized both in terms of functionality (weapons, engines) as well as comestics, to be obtained by completing missions or getting achievements.

THE NOT’s:

Altho it might look like other games in DEEP there is no open-world, no rogue-like elements and no procedurally generated anything: All the levels are hand-made put together, following a retro-strand of space games while featuring all the next-gen shine and splendor you’d want why defying the skies.

THE STORY:

D.E.E.P. will tell of a rebellion taking place in the Jovian System, where the player is part of a rebellion, resisting and battling against the ever-increasing all-knowing all-controlling mega AI called D.E.E.P.-Brain. Thru the 8-hour long campaign players will start out as veterans turned rebel,

Flyland Wars: 2 Not Yours Mine

Flyland Wars: 2 Not Yours Mine

Episode 2 of the Flyland Wars improves on the formula set by its predecessor. It is still a combat game with an emphasis on strategt. Like the last game, the level is difficult until you’ve practiced and figured out tricks to win it. This episode is more fleshed out than the previous one; more opportunities for combat and an interesting puzzle element, with some surprises waiting for you. The game’s best quality is its dark atmosphere. I was genuinely creeped out at points when I was exploring the mine. The story in the game of how Not Yours Mine came to be is well-written and funny. I recommend Flyland Wars Ep 2 if you’re looking for a quick, gritty, unique combat game with puzzle and horror elements.

Lost in Space

Lost in Space

How many times I don’t play a space game, it engages me extremely much in its gameplay. This game does just that, it’s very comfortable, the space is directly mesmerising).

I would recommend playing a game like this in the evening.

First of all, I want to note the visual part of the game, it looks quite good for an indie project, especially space. As for the gameplay side, the game definitely needs improvement, in my opinion it is not very loyal to the player, lacks interface elements, etc. In short, if you buy the game at a discount, then its great for spending a couple of evenings

Red Wings: Aces of the Sky

Red Wings: Aces of the Sky

Fun Arcade flight shooter (crimson sky vibes). The most efficient way to kill enemies is to barrel roll(you are invulnerable) into them.

No idea what the single player story is all about, narrative is all over the place. Replayability comes from unlocking 3 stars for each mission.

To unlock skins, there are stages that require chaining kills to get your combo meter going to attain high score (this is the worst aspect of the entire game). Unlike combo games(Arkham Batman), the enemy AI will focus on you. Here the enemy planes are flying all over the place, reducing your chance to chain your combo meaningfully.

Real player with 30.1 hrs in game

In my opinion this game deserves a better rating than the 60% it currently has.

Many of the negative ratings are related to the fact that the base game is basically what was the demo prior to release and that the full game is contained in the DLC.

This was a somewhat unorthodox and really unfortunate decision made by All in! Games, because the DLC representing the full game has almost no ratings, while a big part of the negative base game ratings are likely from demo-only players and most positive base game ratings are likely from DLC buyers.
