Pop’s
‘Pop’s’ is a fun little arcade stall style shooter in which you have to shoot various toys with a colour corresponding ball. Set in a funfair style setting the graphics are bright and colourful keeping with the fun theme. The good news is the gameplay is also fun and very simple to get into (despite the long, drawn-out tutorial). Provided you are going to play this at a VR party with friends or you just enjoy chasing your own score you will get your money’s worth there, but in truth, there really isn’t a lot of content. Sure, its not original and you don’t get a lot for your money, but its a bit of fun for a small price and that is good enough for me.

The Last From Mars
‘The Last From Mars’ is a pretty traditional alien shooter. You get wave after wave of cute looking aliens all wanting to eat you alive, or maybe implant their eggs into your stomach. There is only one play area here and a handful of guns with a few powerups thrown in for good measure. It looks OK I guess and feels OK to play, but none of it is original and there is nothing ‘stand-out’ here. I would have liked to have seen it a little chapter than £5.79 (the current asking price) as there isn’t a lot of content here, but even so, I feel you will probably get your money’s worth if you take the time to get into the game. Personally, I found it all too…“meh” to bother with, but I do still recommend it (I just wish I could be neutral about it).

Disputed Space
First of all, let me explain how ‘your money’s worth’ actually works, as it dawned on me not too long ago.
Let’s say you work at a job where you make 10$/hr. This game is 2 dollars. Therefore, if you play this game for 12 minutes, you will have recieved your ‘money’s worth’. That’s one of the reasons I recommend this game.
The second reason is that space combat sims like this are like finding a needle in a haystack, and they’re all either tough to run due to their age (Freespace, X-wing games) or invariably complex to the point that the combat itself is overshadowed (X Series, Elite, etc). This is a game where I can sit down, and be part of a pretty big space battle where capital ships and squadrons of fighters are duking it out. It’s good for the imagination. Graphics are decent, there’s no real story to speak of, upgrades are a little weird but not that bad, It’s an ok space combat game.

This game is a blast! It’s like a 3D shmup without a pattern and is something I would have pumped tons of quarters into if it existed before now.
It’s pure mayhem and there’s zero fluff. You drop in and start shooting until everything is destroyed, or until they destroy you, then it’s on to the next level. They get more difficult as they go - there are more ships and a greater variety of them further on, and the bigger ones pack more of a punch and are harder to kill. If there’s not many enemy ships left in the wave, just follow the tracers from the capital ships and you’ll be right back into it!

Really fun to fly in this sim, its like a bare bones version of Velocidrone, you can change your rates and play with physics. There are a few bugs. E.g. OSD settings reset every time you change maps and if you get stuck in colission like tree leaves theres no reset button so you have to exit the map then redo your osd settings and reenter the map. But other then that I love this sim!

Anti Air
Before you give this a go standing up - this is better played sitting down. In a swivel chair - preferably. As if controlling the guns off of the side of the millennium falcon shooting space invaders!

Found this through ModDB, and it certainly is ripe for a mod. 4 things you gotta do. Watch ‘High Score’ on Netflix, Youtube ‘Player One - Space Invaders’, Fire this baby up, and then watch ‘Ready Player One’ on Netflix, and the 5th thing is for someone to make a Pixelated Cthulunoid Mod for this thing.

Pangman
This is a fun game based on an arcade classic. I played through a few of the worlds in solo play. I thought the progression and difficulty was fair, but some of the levels have these indestructible spheres which are hard to dodge and sometimes shooting them did not seem to repel them at all. I also wish there was a power up or an option so you didn’t die in one hit. Sometimes I would hear a turret power up and had no idea what direction would come from and I’d have to start the stage over again.

If youve played the old game, its basically that, in a 3d room with the pistol way more available than on the classic.
Performance was excellent, like zero loading screens as expected because of the simplish graphics, not that complicated gameplay, and closed and small levels.
I found it entertaining and fun for what it was, in 1hr i finished just the first 3 worlds or ~30 of 140 levels (and i have 1st place in Egypt and Mexico currently :p)
Game is very simple and just like the oldschool game, spheres want to take over the world, but you can somehow make a difference, like if we could even annoy our perfected dimensioned overlords if they ever wanted to take over.

FIRE TRUMP - Air Combat VR
Headset: Oculus Rift S & Touch controllers.
Couldn’t move the plane. I grabbed the flight stick and pushed it forward, pulled it back, tilted it and pushed every single button on my controller but nothing happened. The game flashes bright red in your eyes when getting attacked.

VRAstroSmash
Experienced on the Oculus Quest 2
You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/WtpjCJTCEiA
VRAstrosmash is I guess an Asteroids clone designed for VR. You have 6 degrees of movement, you can thrust forward, roll, pitch, or yaw. However, it never feels like you’re actually moving forward, just rotating in a spot. You shoot asteroids as they rotate around you. The closer they are, the easier they are to target.
Unfortunately, the game starts out slow and plodding. After 30 minutes, I can honestly say not much happened. I think I had destroyed 3 asteroids. I was very bored. I finally got into a second phase and there were more asteroids now. Unfortunately, that’s when my frame rates started dropping severely.
