Beyond Horror: Episode One, A Father’s Journey

This is a good indie horror game, with some interesting ideas.

I look forward to seeing what the developers have in store for us next!

Not a bad amount of content for $3. Takes a bit over an hour to finish.

The game has some bugs and isn’t perfectly polished, but it certainly is

a decent start for this developer. I hope to see more later on! :)

Beyond Horror: Episode One, A Father's Journey on Steam

Bram The Toymaker

Bram The Toymaker

A scary bedtime story or a horrid physical entity?

The story goes that the toymaker is an undead figure who comes out at night leaving a toy on the children’s bedroom window to lure and capture them. Upon finding an old hidden journal, Blake discovers that a folktale passed through generations in his family might hold some dark secrets. He embarks on a journey to unravel what’s behind his ancestor’s mysterious journal.

Return to your family roots, deep into a long-forgotten isolated 19th-century village called Grimmville where time has stopped.

Upon arriving at the abandoned manor, once you set foot inside suddenly you find yourself trapped. Equipped with a flashlight you must explore the rooms. Some of them are escape-room style. Your main objective is to look for clues in order to solve timed puzzles that will give you the necessary items to progress further and make your way out.

The Gas Gas Gas achievement is broken and never unlocks. Otherwise, it’s a state-of-the-art game with PS1-esque graphics and immersive gameplay. 3/10.

I recommend this game mostly for the compelling[dark] atmosphere created and the sounds ( they repeat themselves after some time tho ) - but be aware, no ultra widescreen support / optimisation is ok for the most part - but in some places ( like for ex the sewers tunnels ) it really plummets / a lot of reused assets and a lot more clipping thru solid objects ( vases/boxes/lights rack on ceiling/ behind the mirrors support structure and probably others ) that really detracts the player from having an immersive experience !

  • Kind of spoilerish?-

Definitely enjoyed the game, great visuals, got a couple of scares and some good puzzels.

Around the half way point of the game it turned into a mostly puzzel based game, the puzzels were fun and fair and kept new and interesting ideas flowing throughout the rest of the game.

The strongest part of the game for me would have been the first half though. I enjoyed the puzzels but walking around in the dark not knowing what was gonna happen next was definitely a fun ride.

The game is really good, I would definitely recommend it. I saw people not being happy with the difficulty of this game, in my opinion it’s difficulty makes the game more fun since you learn things each attempt which is really satisfying. The idea of putting “hidden” collectibles is pretty neat too.

Liquidators

Liquidators

Never in my whole life have I been more terrified within the realms of a video game.

I believe a large portion of that comes from my intense phobia of nuclear power plants, but there’s also a huge variety of aspects this game nails in terms of horror. As someone experienced with music composition and production, the first thing I want to point out is the absolutely stellar sound design. Low, abstract drones bounce off of each wall, and you know it’s coming from… somewhere. But you don’t know where.

Real player with 18.4 hrs in game

It’s a short but tense 3D exploration and interaction game, it happens in several rooms inside a nuclear plant. The story is based on an important fragment of the actual event Chernobyl Disaster.

  • Graphics

Old story in 1986, then not the modern HD style. If you don’t accept pixel things, go to Settings- Video- Filter Strength, turn it Low or None.

  • Music

Radiation detector sound and background noise in plant. No intentional extra sfx.

  • Gameplay

1. There might be some bugs under fixing, but it doesn’t influence the experience if you like this kind of game. The developers are active in the pinned discussion so just ask.

Resident Evil Village

Resident Evil Village

The following review contains spoilers

Resident Evil: Village concludes the story of Ethan Winters in a most dramatic way, or at least this is how it seems with the data that we have so far. The story takes place a few years after the Baker house incident. Ethan and Mia, who now have a baby, a girl called Rosemary, are under the protection of Chris Redfield who, incidentally, has meanwhile differentiated himself from the BSAA for unknown reasons. At some point, Chris bursts into Ethan’s home, inexplicably shoots Mia dead and kidnaps Ethan and the baby. Something goes wrong however, and Ethan ends up alone at the snowy outskirts of a mountainous village in Eastern Europe, where he begins a desperate search for his baby, while at the same time trying to figure out why Chris, who was so caring and protective over him and his family, killed Mia in cold blood.

Nominated: Game of the Year 2021

Top tier survival horror with one man’s war against four Lords and their mysterious leader.

The Positives

  • An unforgettable instalment in the franchise.

  • Inspired by gothic literature, an example being that Castle Dimitrescu is reminiscent of Castle Dracula.

  • A thrilling sense of adventure in what appears to be a more fantastical setting in Eastern Europe.

  • Action-heavy for the most part, but there’s still variety in gameplay—explore, hunt, trade, upgrade while battling an assortment of enemy types.

The secret of the stone

The secret of the stone

So here I go I know the game is very cheap but in the house and outside there was no ambience it was just a quiet game all the way through, some parts where to dark to even see even with the candles on the ground.

I didn’t get to see some of the parts of the game from the screenshots because I couldn’t figure out what to do after putting the candles in the right rooms.

I tried turning of the lights after that to see if that would do anything.

I managed to find a key and I used it on the garage door it unlocked but still couldn’t open the door I think you have to solve the riddle before you can open the door, I had some idea what the answer was but didn’t how to go about it.

Played on Linux using Proton-GE, Video Files, Another UT Engine Horror Game using same pre-made Source code and assets as most other 1 man band game dev.

The normal bad lighting Game, most of the time just darkness and you cannot see at all and then when there is light it’s to bright, Graphics sub-par, Sound very very minimal as mostly no sound, Game play bad as i said it’s mostly to dark to see, and door problems because of bad mapping/placement, and i don’t think this is a Horror Game as i found nothing scary when playing as much as i could, Not Recommended.
