Before anyone says anything about play time and “Didn’t you get your money’s worth” quite a bit of it was testing issues I found with the game and having to replay quite a bit to get there to test it.

So I’ll do a Positives and negatives for people.

Positives:

  • I’m pretty sure it’s not an asset flip.

  • The game sort of has a story.

  • The game does have more to just walking about to it it’s not fully a walking sim type game

  • There are some nice ideas seemingly being tried out and tested here.

This is actually a fun game. It’s an unpolished open-world, RPG. It’s rough around the edges when starting. Thankfully the markers help putting labels and get things in order.

The upsides are:

-open-world, RPG, cube-style.

-pretty simplified and not too complex.

-all achievements are easily obtainable. Some require a guide though, but not hard to obtain.

The downsides are:

-English grammar needs work

-There needs to be ways to review quest. Once you read it, you can easily forget. The markers help though.

Solar Panic: Utter Distress

The comedy is trivial, easy to grasp but not loud.

It is shallow, but quite interesting at the same time.

Those times when everything else feels overwhelming and normal humor feels like a burning dagger in your back, that is the mood you want to be in when you play this.

It soothes, with obviousness and a promise of something more.

The game is very short, it feels like a very well polished student project, but it is detailed too.

However, 15€ is way too much for this, a big discount is recommended.

I tried to incorporate excessively used monetization models as mechanics in the game. So you use DLCs (Downloadable Content) to upgrade yourself, you have to get random improvements from Lootboxes, paid with virtual currency. As ammunition, you use your banknotes and there are a bunch of Live Services to subscribe to, in order to gain boosts (for a price of course). No worries though, there are no real microtransactions in the game. In addition to the mechanics just mentioned, I added other additional systems to make for a replayable, engaging and fun game.

Description

In the full version, there are two different game modes available. There is a story mode, where you can make your way through a storyline. Your choices matter, as there are multiple pathways and endings. The second mode is the Custom Game mode, where you can set your prefered settings and difficulty and try to achieve better and better high scores. In this demo version, you can only play the custom game without setting your own preferences.

The enemies you face are Lootboxes with different attacks at their disposal. As you shoot your way through hordes of Lootboxes you earn DCs (Different Currencies – the in-game currency), which you can use to buy random rewards through Lootboxes. Those rewards are temporary improvements for this run only. During your playthrough, you also find so-called DLC fragments. You can use those to permanently upgrade different perks at the Centre (starting point of the level).

The upgrades include things like your movement speed, your fire rate, the amount of ammunition you can carry, etc. But with DLC fragments you can also unlock a new weapon and the ability to dual wield.

What else

Also at some point, you will unlock the possibility to build up different combo points (there are several combos available at the end, for example, killing only red Lootboxes in a row, earns you bonus DCs. Or killing only one type of Lootboxes earns you bonus DC, etc…) You finish your combos with a melee attack, where you blink to an enemy and destroy it simultaneously. The enemies are randomly created, and you can also control how many enemies you want to face at a given time. More enemies mean you the possible rewards are exponentially higher but at the same time the risk of dying increases.

The level itself is theoretically infinite and procedurally generated. But you have to stay in the vicinity of the Centre, as you need to come back to it for ammunition and upgrades (a little arrow points you the way though). You are also on a clock because there is a limited time until the invincible, deadly W-box starts to chase you. Once it reaches you, this run is over. But at least you keep all permanent upgrades for the next run.

Game Features:

  • First Person Shooter with a simple but recognisable art style

  • Story mode with different paths and endings

  • Custom Game mode lets you hunt for ever-higher high scores

  • Enemies are hostile Lootboxes with different attacks

  • Upgrade yourself through permanent upgrades

  • Kills, Combo-kills and Melee strikes earn you temporary improvements

  • Replayable, procedurally generated level with randomized layout and enemies

  • You control the risk to reward ration for every battle

Baldi’s Basics Plus

Baldi’s Basics Plus

There’s so much that I love about BB+.

The unique humor, the cruddy art style, the simplistic and satisfying gameplay, the replayability; it’s all great. I’ve been playing this game for quite some time now, and it still hasn’t lost its spark. It’s one of the only games you can replay over and over again, and not find yourself bored after the 20th time replaying.

This game offers a lot: It’s unpredictable, it’s capable of giving you an adrenaline rush that’ll last six hours, and it has a great community. I’ve always been a fan of strategy-based games, and I highly recommend that you buy the game. It’s only ten bucks. You’ll definitely find that the purchase was worth it.

In a sentence, this game is a procedurally-generated cat-and-mouse game where you must find all the necessary items in order to open the exit and escape to the next level, with a consistent style, multiple items, random events, and more.

Perks:

-Randomly Generated Levels which are very well-done with very little cheap dead-ends.

-Over 15+ items to use to defend yourself from Baldi.

-Random bell-ring events for unexpected challenge or reward the longer you stay in a level.

-All the old pros of the classic Baldi’s Basics return while refining the cons.

Freebooter of SPLORR!!

Freebooter of SPLORR!!

I flung turds at a werewolf, bribed some bats, dropped my trousers and defeated a dragon. All this while drinking beer, wine and coffee to keep me going! Was an interesting, random pickup ex’splorring' this game. Trying to win on hard mode now and not poop myself… again.

Definitely recommended for some lighthearted quirky fun!

Freebooter of SPLORR!! is a fun call back to dungeon crawlers of old. Mixed with some great humour and unique encounters, this is definitely worth it. The music and sound effects are on point, giving you an immersive experience.

The randomness of the dungeons ensures plenty of mixed gameplay, and plenty of achievements to work your way towards! Great game if you love the dungeon crawler style games! Highly recommend!

Poop On 2020 Simulator

Poop On 2020 Simulator

So uh…yeah, this sure is a game that I spent two dollars on.

It’s a game about taking a shit on quite likely the most despised year of all time. (Also peeing on it…and throwing multiple Trumps at it) But wait, you can do other things like shit, piss, or throw Trumps at the likes of COVID-19, the toilet…toilet paper…the…walls…

Okay look this isn’t a game you’re made to take too seriously. It is only $2 after all. It’s a nice game to get a nice chuckle out of after the horrid year.

But screw that tank lid achievement. I can’t for the life of me get that one. (That’s also why I have more hours on this game than you might expect. I eventually gave up)

I mean, what can you say? It pretty much says it in the title, it is a game where you fling the squishiest of projectiles at 2020!

Let out your frustrations on the year 2020 (and 2021 if you unlock the super secret mode!) by defecating and weeing on it! It is cathartic, satisfying and very silly and immature but does fulfil a certain need.

This game is the first games from GAME Games (try saying that ten times fast) and is pretty solid (or should that be squishy game). The sound are effects are are delightfully, and disgustingly, satisfying.

In the game you have to earn money. You can play on a crypto exchange, or just collect bottles on the street.

Money is an integral part of the gameplay; it is used to buy food, alcohol, cigarettes and other at a local small shop, as well as various things on the Internet’s shops.

All this is necessary to maintain the physical condition of the main hero at the proper level. You can no longer sit at the computer carefree, addictions interfere with this, and money is needed to quench them.

Your only friend is a white rat. Stroking it fur lifts your spirits a little.

Mechanics and features

  • A operating system on your pc

  • Trading on the gaming exchange

  • Collectiong of glass botles on the street to sell it on collection point

  • Food cooking

  • Ability to buy junk on the Internet and furnish a room with it

  • Music player in your phone, with an excellent selection of Russian post-rock

Kill It With Fire: HEATWAVE

Kill It With Fire: HEATWAVE

This is my arachnophobia therapy… well, kinda. ;) Not a game for you if you love spiders or are a PETA member, everyone else should be able to get a good amount of enjoyment out of this.

One new level (including reworked versions of the two in Ignition), three new species (all of them nightmare fuel), and a couple more weapons - the pan rules, I hope we’ll be able to hit those jumping spiders out of the air with it. Maybe it’s already possible, I flinched every time to be honest.

Had this on my radar since the r/indiegaming post in (IIRC) Febuary, was already planning on buying this after playing Ignition, this was enough to ignore my “no pre-orders” rule.

I don’t know how to explain it, but this game was really awesome. You’re basically wandering around a house, finding and killing spiders. The spiders are also diverse, meaning there are actually multiple types. You can obtain several different type of ‘weapons’ to use, such as Clipboard, Revolver, Hair Spray & Lighter, Frying Pan, Shotgun. These aren’t the only items, and this doesn’t even include ‘Upgrades’ for them.

Throughout the game, you will have multiple objectives (written on the clipboard). I do have concerns of repetition and redundancy, however, each stage (before release) did have it’s own unique objectives. I’m definitely looking forward to this game’s release!
