The Ship: Murder Party

The Ship: Murder Party

The Ship is definitely not your usual first-person shooter, where you just shoot anything that looks at you funny - although there is a game mode for that.

It feeds on your cleverness and paranoia. Each game round, you have to kill on specific person onboard one of several ocean liners - the titular Ships - and at the same time, someone is hunting you. Both you and your target - or ‘quarry’ - can take cover under the watchful eye of a Security Guard or Camera, but your hunter will likely be quite happy to bribe the Security to ignore their crimes while they bring that big ol' bat of theirs and beat your ass to death with it.

Turn Clue into a first-person shooter on 1920’s era luxury liners, sprinkle in bits of The Sims, and you’ve got The Ship. Instead of having to uncover a killer, The Ship makes you the killer. To be more specific and familiar to the gaming audience, The Ship is a very polished and creative take on the Assassin’s Creed Multiplayer experience (but also keep in mind that this game came before the Assassin’s Creed Multiplayer genre was released)….where the main gameplay mechanic revolves around finding your target, called your quarry, and breaking their face as stealthily as possible. To do so, there are plenty of lethal weapons and objects to wield, and even some environmental traps that you will find yourself potentially avoiding. To add flavor, everyone else on each map has a quarry as well. While pursuing your own target, you’ll need to stay alert and attempt to spot the passenger readying a knife for your back. The Sims element of the game, quells upon your daily needs to survive (food, drinks, toilet, sleep, etc). The ‘character’s needs’ element makes for a deeper gameplay experience, as your character is vulnerable to attack while you’re downing a bag of chips or snoring on a bed. And it is surely funny when your friend murders you on the toilet. The Ship is one of very few games that brings a large amount of enjoyment to my friends and I. Built on Valve’s Souce engine, a majority of gamers can experience a $20 title with basically 4 copies to gift away. A little too much? Ask four of your friends for $4 each, and your all set! Overall, The Ship is a very innovative, satisfying and humorous experience that a bunch of 5 friends can’t pass up. “Let us set sail!.”

For a guy that has developed this game all on his own, I am impressed. The amount of fun I’ve had right from the start is insane.

Just a few minor flaws here and there that might need some tweaking, other than that I would recommend this game to anyone that is interested in fast-paced shooters, with quick respawn time (this is what I have been waiting for in a game).

What might need tweaking in my opinion:

It seems like all the SMGs/Assault Rifles does the same amount of damage, a slight nerf to the SMG’s would’ve been amazing. Meaning finding a new weapon gives you a greater advantage than the weapon you spawn in with.

Turns out my friends were right - I am a boring person

Pros:

  • Models and weapons

  • The maps are partially well…

  • The military insignias as archivements for your profile showcase

Cons (Oh boy):

The AI requires some improvement, running against walls and trains was rather an unintentional feature?

The “gameplay” is just lame, considering servers are just a word in that game, AI gameplay is to rely on.

Didn’t know “Vlave” was a thing, alright?

As stated above, servers do not exist, quick play is just alike in other games a bad “meme”, nothing turns out, either have someone who’s as well stupid to buy it in order to play multiplayer… or… don’t?

Let me dispel some common criticisms:

-Nobody plays this game anymore

This is a halloween-themed game, so yes, for those of you complaining in June that nobody plays this game, jump in around October and you’ll get plenty of games in.

-No updates

Fuck off, this game was perfect the first time and does not need “updates”, this isn’t League of Legends

-Only one map

See above. Also, this was meant to be picked up one time a year. One map is plenty. I have a feeling the people who complain about there only being one map are the same people who only play Final Destination on Smash.

tl;dr version: Is this the kind of game you’ll play for ages and have ranked tournaments with months from now? No. Is it $5 worth of Halloween entertainment for the next month or so? Absolutely!

Hide and Shriek is a very well balanced 1v1 scarematch game where you have to either outscore or outscare (or ideally both) your opponent. The fact that resources are randomly distributed - even the runes you use to craft spells are randomly chosen at the start of the match - means that there’s no one preferred location or ideal loadout you can use. Having to continually scramble about looking for resources and never quite having the right spell components in place keeps it from being too comfortable at any point. (It is admittedly true that sometimes the RNG blesses you with abundant resources of exactly the right kind for your strategy but you can never count on this being true.)

What I liked:

This is obviously a game that is very inspired by the 360/PS3 era of shooters where things were definitely more simple and straightforward. That I really appreciate and the gameplay definitely feels like it’s trying to replicate that. This game is definitely a work in progress and I’m sure there are plenty of optimizations to come. A lot of the guns feel good to use and most of the maps are really fun to play, though some of the larger ones take getting used to because of how the guns handle and the recoil.

Okay lets get the good things out of the way before the laundry list of bad things

THE GOOD

(1) I like the idea that someone outside of Call of Duty is attempting the killstreak system in a FPS game, With the UAV, Airstrike, and Attack Helicopter, I’ve longed for a game that adds this extra benefit to playing well that rewards the user for not dying and getting kills.

(2) The gunplay is okay at best and rather realistic in a sense that if you ADS your shots will be down the middle but when you shoot from the hip your shots actually come from the hip and you have to try and lineup the shots that way.

MORDHAU

MORDHAU

Literally the most annoying game I have ever played… I enjoy the experience of medieval combat, which is why I played this game for so long… but given any other alternative, like I now have option to play Chivalry 2, I truly wish I never played a single hour of this nonsense. Trolls, petulant brats throwing entire matches and sabotaging their team just to flirt around… who needs parenting when you have video games like Mordhau? The most insanely immature community imaginable given the serious nature of the theme of the game… the negative reviews are right, take my word for it… this game is simply a bad meme and provides no chance of immersion given the repetitive nature of the objectives, and considering that the outcome of each match is determined largely by how many trolls or griefers are on 1 team, and how many cowardly pathetic high level players are intentionally stacking the other… the most mindless waste of time I have ever experienced… even if I was stoned and drunk, this game would still frustrating and annoying.. cowards abound, repetitive weapon exploits, and team stacking every match… What else is there to say? Don’t play it, get Chivalry 2..

Ever since patch 20 this games combat hasnt felt the same. Theres so many redparries that you cant go a single fight without wondering “wtf am i palying”. The most recent dumb addition, spawn beacons, just goes to prove that the devs are trying to turn this game into battlefield, which they just cant due to the much smaller dev team. Its just sad that they would ruin such a great game, the core mechanics are so good, but they are ruined by unreadable swing manipulation, nonfunctional combat mechanics and so on. At this point you cannot play this game if youre not already very experienced at it. Its very unforgiving towards new players. Unless they revert the last 3 patches, fix the combat system and start actually working on updates actively you should consider buying it. But at its current state it just isnt worth it.

Well where do I start… This game is fantastic literally anyone can play and run this game as it is free and as of 7/11 under 10mb on the surface it appears to be another generic unity FPS game, but its much more than that I believe when this game gets workshop support its going to take off.

In terms of game mechanics is pretty great mildly physics are janky and that’s kinda the point but when it pulls you in random directions when using the ODM gear it gets annoying pretty quick on the topic of the ODM gear that too is wildly inconsistent, sometimes I feel like a god grappling around getting sick quick scopes other times it literally doesn’t work weapons feel pretty good I love the sniper even though the scope is off center the AK-47 is great good time to kill pretty reliable and not too much bloom now the shotgun is GARBAGE holy shit its broken stupid range massive damage and its full auto aside from the shotgun the weapons are pretty on point

One of my favourite shooter games. Not always super active, but when it is, it’s tons of fun.

Great community around it and a really hardworking developer.

The game requires the ability to move well, but you don’t need to go too deep into that. The most important part is to not stay still, and something very interesting - you need to know how to switch guns.

I didn’t think it earlier, but for most maps, you generally need to know when to switch weapons, this includes knowing which you are best at, when, and at what range. It sounds simple, but it’s alot of fun to learn the ins and outs of each gun and what it is good at.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III - Multiplayer Starter Pack

Call of Duty: Black Ops III - Multiplayer Starter Pack

As much as i love Call Of Duty and its multiplayer i have to say this simply isnt worth it. The main reason i even bought it was because i thought i could get the full game upgrade at some point on sale but it doesnt go on sale as far as ive seen. The multiplayer is less active than the World at War servers and as fun and neat as it is its just ot all that worth it for me. Id love to get the full game at some point to see how the rest of the game is, especially the zombies, but i dont see it being worth the $60 that id be spending in total without any dlc.

game destroyed by the mass aimboters and boosters wall hakers never thought i would say it but dont bother with it its overran with hackers save you dollors and play something else something you will enjoy and not rage over cant beleive plp still pay for hacks in these game enstead of getting good no skill players just out to fake theres good gamers gl have fun play at your on risk

EDIT: I just can’t recommend the game right now due to the lack of players. When the playercount increases to the point where you can fairly easily get into a game with people at similar skill levels to you I’ll remove this edit. Just bear in mind the low playercount if you’re considering buying the game.

EDIT 2: Since the game is now free there’s really no reason not to try it. As of 10th September 2017 the playercount is such that you can pretty quickly find a game, and if there are empty spots the bots are pretty reasonable to play with.

Been playing the game since almost 5 months now. At first it’s difficult to get used to all the controls, but that problem disappears after a few days/weeks. Supraball helps with your aim, quick thinking and team game (well, only if you’re willing to play in a team).

The community is as much of a pro as a con: you can find friendly ppl and toxic ones too. The higher-lvl players know each other (at least by usernames), so it has that ‘big, dysfunctional family’ feeling to it once you advance to a certain lvl.
