The story is set in a dystopic world. Our main character is a journalist that, hate the “President” when he gives a controversial speech. She calls him an idiot and gets arrested. She is then given a chance for a better place if she can complete the contest alive. The contest is made through several stages, each stage has traps and challenges similar to ones in old platformer games. The player must memorize the patterns to complete levels. The game is hard according to testers thus we didn’t add any difficulty settings for now. In the game, some levels have timers and extra challenges. For example, if the player misses all shots, they need to restart the level.

World War Zero
It’s really cool to see this on Steam since back in the day the PC CD version was only ever sold in the UK. I played Iron Storm 20 years ago but never got a chance to play this game until now. Anyway, World War Zero is a 2004 Playstation 2 port of the 2002 PC game Iron Storm, but so many changes were made that it feels like almost an entirely different game, with only the basic level layout and story being the same.
It feels like a very typical “average” console FPS of the time period; overall feel is extremely similar to games like Warhammer 40k Fire Warrior, Red Faction 2, Judge Dredd: Dredd vs Death, Killzone 1, etc. Gameplay is run-and-gun with no aim-down-sights, there is a little bit of sidepath exploration for extra ammo but overall levels are straightforward and linear, enemy behavior is mostly just run into line-of-sight, then stand still and shoot at you.

A fun mindless shooter that literally is BF1 before BF because everyone is using modern warfare type weapons and equipment. Diesel punk future more or less, but you play as the bad guys who literally “float armies on the stock market” against Ugenberg who surpressed the Bolsheviks which inadvertently stops WW2 but instead culminates to a long 60 year war and they try to pull a “humanity good war is pointless” which makes sense for that time but comes off as hollow because it’s forcing WW1 to have an obvious good guy bad guy cliche at the same time. And when you know the history it’s a bit more depressing, fun but meh. Also, the last boss is a pain, since you don’t get directions to anywhere just objectives and a map to wander in (like all old school games like that), you may have trouble finding it but there’s a Buddha statue and an elevator on the 2nd floor that you don’t even know is there. The boss is just a pain, you have to exploit his slow walking and stupidity because his minigun chews through you and anything blocking it, so just walk him to the boxes on the left via the alleyway and chuck grenades and whatnot over till he dies.

Bohemian Killing
During my playthrough I think this game is quite promising and is unfair in dumbing the product down based on some rough edges. I reminisce on Depths of Fear :: Knossos and how a really good indie game got really, really harsh criticism just for trying to be different and proposing something new. The game had quite a few updates, but still needs polish IMHO.
This is just one of those games like Facade from 2005 or like The Path that proposes something very different and questions traditional approach to gameplay and mechanics. It offers a different theme to crime and detective stories inversing things making the trial at court the ultimate battle, not just a sidekick.

Brief
This game is amazing. I loved all of it. I would recommend this game at it’s price or on sale definitely as a must-get if you enjoy these styles of games. Even 100%ed the achievements so I could see every ending and know all the details. There are some issues with this game though that I have. Though the bugs I did run into were mostly minor even though they could easily be game breaking. I will keep information about very specific instances minimal due to spoilers.

After watching the trailer I wasn’t sure about purchasing this game right at the release. I couldn’t really tell if it was an open world survival game or a small linear style game. Also I couldn’t find any videos online from gamer’s reviewing it. I gave it a shot and really liked it so far. It is more of a open world game. It feels very much like a winter STALKER atmosphere. There is a Story mode which isn’t available yet which I’m looking forward to checking out. From what I’ve seen so far this looks really good. So, let me start off by saying that I love the S.T.A.L.K.E.R Series. This is what lead to me giving this game my $10. The atmosphere of the game is good, not great, but I like it enough to preface it. The gun-play feels solid, lowish recoil and high damage as a gun should be. It is the ultimate equalizer after all. The game features a low but diverse cast of weapons like the AK74M, the AKS-74U, the 9x18 Makarov, a strange looking shotgun that reminds me of a Winchester Model 1200, I believe a Mosin-Nagant as I found 7.62x54r ammo on a soldier but haven’t actually seen the rifle, and finally a crowbar. (And to the people that will comment saying “It’S aN aK, iT hAs HiGh ReCoIl”, both variations of the AK Platform in this game run off of 5.45x39 ammunition, which is functionally similar to the 5.56 NATO cartridge, resulting in similar recoil. So get f*cked nerd)

ESCAPE FROM VOYNA: Tactical FPS survival
this game sucks
do’s and don’ts if you still wanna buy:
-
do always run to the right edge of each map and just go forward, this way you avoid most enemies and reach the exit of the level.
-
don’t try to screenshot, the game will instantly crash
-
don’t try to walk in water, you will be locked in place and will have to restart the map
-
don’t complete any mission as you will have to restart the entire game to progress as the mouse disappears.
it took me 1.3hrs to complete this mess even with all the bugs involved

The Outlast Trials
Set in the era of the Cold War, human guinea pigs are involuntarily recruited by the good folks at the Murkoff Corporation to test advanced methods of brainwashing and mind control. In a world of distrust, fear, and violence, your morals will be challenged, your endurance tested, and your sanity crushed. All in the name of progress, science, and profit.
Red Barrels invites you to experience mind-numbing terror, this time with friends. Work together and maybe you’ll survive The Outlast Trials. It’s always better to shit your pants in good company.
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus
Killing Nazis is very satisfying, and this game doesn’t fail to deliver.
Quite similar to the first one (which for me is a big plus, as I liked it a lot as well), with a couple of new features (
! contraptions, side quests, enigma machine etc.).
What I liked:
-
variety of locations;
-
memorable characters;
-
satisfying shooting and combat mechanics;
-
story is alright;
-
enemies are OK animation- and AI-wise;
-
possibility of different playstyles and approaches (I prefer stealth, and here it’s implemented nicely);

“Come and f******* get me you white ass nazi pigs!” and the white supremacist father make this too much for me. Yeah, the cringe is strong with this one. Couldn’t help but think this was in response to the sitting president when this was made. Irregardless, this is just a copy paste of the last game with a side of politics and weak story sprinkled in. I don’t know how you can screw this game up, but they managed it somehow.
