Bloodland

Bloodland

very nice! kinda rough rn but the developer is making this game for pc and also ios. he is very responsive and is working to make this game much better. right now there isnt many people to play with but id imagine there will be when the full games releases. there are different classes and a bunch of spells but for now its versus modes only. the developer specifically said there are no plans for a battle royale mode in this game which is completely fine. i would only recommend playing right now if you are patient and dont have a problem testing and playing a game while its being developed. but.. what i will say about it is that it is very fun.

Kwarn Armada Tactics

Kwarn Armada Tactics

Kwarn Armada Tactics (aka KAT) is a unique mix of strategy and action.

KAT’s gameplay is focused on an ingenious system of units formations : each of your units has lines of action that can strengthen allied units or destroy opposing units. Place smartly your units to create powerful formations which will counter your opponent’s assaults !

Choose among 6 generals the one that will lead your troops on the battlefield. The general defines your armada’s general strategy : massive assaults or fast attacks, impenetrable defence, ruses or diversions, guerilla warfare or destabilization…Each of the 6 generals has 3 powers able to turn the battle to his advantage : powerful drones prototypes, opposing units capture, camouflage, speed or power boosts, etc.

Choose among 27 units the best combinaison according to your strategy ! Heavy units, equipped with shields, allow to crush a defence formation !

Light units are able to dodge enemy’s attacks and are perfect for harrying your opponent! Medium units are balanced and will form the core or your armada ! Transport units allow you to bring units to the heart of your opponent’s armada or to create a diversion !

Customize your units with equipment to caught your opponent by surprise and take advantage! Equipments can be installed on some of your drones and can be used at any time during the battle : the bomb transforms a unit into a suicide bomber, the teleporter transports a unit in the middle of the enemy defense, the virus sabotages the enemy defenses, the bastion turns a unit into a fortress, …

Fight your opponents in ruthless duels ! Each battlefield is full of surprises: whether it is a violent snowstorm that immobilizes your units, asteroid fields that threaten your troops, or pirates capable of capturing your units: each battle promises to be unique and surprising ! The AI of the game has been the object of a particular and constant work in order to make it redoutable : able to choose among dozens of tactics and hundreds of formations of units, the AI represents a real challenge and makes each general really different.

Finally, quick play allows you to set up an immediate battle through 14 game modes, against the AI or another player on the same device.

KAT’s visual aesthetics is inspired by comics and turns the gaming experience into a real journey into a dark and captivating science fiction universe.

Features :

  • An absolutely unique, simple, tactical and nervous gameplay

  • Large tactical possibilities : 6 generals, 27 drones and 10 equipments

  • Long game length : a campaign mode , 14 game modes and quick play against a challenging AI or two players on the same device

  • A unique and captivating universe told with a comic book style

This review is written from the perspective of a melee player for other melee players.

This game doesn’t have much going for it. The reason this game appealed to me at first was for a few reasons (many which I think other melee players would share):

1. This game is easily accessable which means I don’t have to worry about carrying a CRT or bringing setups anywhere to play with tons of people. Faster Melee has this, but is inconsistent on my home connection so this offered me an alternative.

2. While melee is a great game it has many shortcomings that I think the melee community doesn’t acknowledge as much as it could simply because the game is static, no point in complaining about wobbling becuase it is permanent. Similar to shine/spacie utilt being busted, half the cast being complete garbage, jigglypuff bair, etc etc. I think melee is a great game, but a studio taking a stab at essentially making “Melee 2” sounds like a game with unlimited potential.

TL;DR at the bottom

To contextualize this review, allow me to give a little bit of a personal history on myself: I’m a platform fighter player of nearly 4 years, starting with Smash 4, dropping it for Melee, and then becoming a Rivals of Aether beta tester (a title which I still retain after roughly 3 years).

–——————

CHARACTERS & BALANCE

Icons: Combat Arena is the latest competitor to step into the platform fighter genre, headed up by Jason and crafted by fragments of the Project:M development team. Project:M ultimately got a C&D order from Nintendo, leading to the dissolution of the mod team, despite its popularity among the community. The game was known for bringing Melee mechanics to Brawl, while also working to make a larger portion of the cast competitively viable. Unfortunately, there were many times in which that viability was achieved through jank/gimmicks being added to kits in lieu of any real reworks.

Okay, so let’s break this down in a few different ways, shall we? I’m a recent Yomi fan who’s been pretty pumped about this new release on Steam. You’re someone who’s probably trying to figure out if they should buy this game. Let’s see what we can do about this.

Yomi will likely appeal to…

  • People who are put off of the dexterity requirements for competitive fighting games

  • Competitive gamers looking for a new strategic game to master

  • Game design fans looking for a new, interesting, well-balanced design

Close Combat: Cross of Iron

Close Combat: Cross of Iron

WOW ,

Where do i begin ? I still own the original close combat series on disc’s the 4 PC SET . There was a version put out by SSI the original developers of this game , and after a year or so there was a patch called REAL RED . It did not lock up/freeze put me on hold or waste my time/money. ( IT WAS HEAVEN ) , It is my inspiration to just rebuild a old style computer just to play them ! I mean that for me as a world historian that the technical attributes are great , when you morons introduce a PZIIIJ at the the beginning of 41 and every 3 shots something dies you change the historical impact or so it changes history ! So what producer slept with the developer TO GET THIS PASSED AS ACCEPTABLE ? Do you all think we are all your stupid money pits ? Remember the first official strategy game ? Panzer General and Allied Gen. and da rest of that series ! And yes i have 2 copies ! lol. What about RISK or Stratego or chess ? , How about Age of Empires the complete series or the first Empire Earth ? Rise of Nations too ? ROME TOTAL WAR ? Rome total war took several years to patch ! Notice a pattern brothers n sisters ? Wake up and dont settle !

Update: After a few months of waiting the developers fixed the issue of this game not working on Steam. It now does work and I am enjoying reliving the good ol days of Close Combat III. Now that it works I would recommend this game as CCIII has always been my favorite of the series.

Original Post: Doesn’t even run long enough to fall flat on its face. The “developers” have taken a great game from the 90s and repackaged it, branding it as their own and selling it without ensuring that it actually works on steam. No technical support afforded to steam users as their help webpage gives us a dead link and nobody seems to answer the forums. The Russian Front is my all time favorite of the Close Combat series, made by Atomic Games, and published by Microsoft Corporation. Did the repackaging team acquire the rights for this game or they blatantly stealing to make a quick buck? I honestly applaud the team for making it available on steam as i love the series, but for now they need to fix this shit if they think that they can legitimately charge $39.99.

Firescout

Firescout

Firescout is definitely an Early Access game. The gunplay works well enough, the graphics aren’t too bad and there are online servers which can be filled with bots. Unfortunately that’s about it for the positives, all character models are the same red bot, all the guns are the exact same model but with a different coloured sight attachment. There are choices to pick the usual FPS Multiplayer classes but they mean nothing. While there are a few maps they are all incredibly small when it comes to the playable area on them.

Good shooter with some gamemodes, which you can play with your friends too. Because of this game my terrible aim got somewhat better.

Although I hope there are more players in the future.

Gladiators Manager is a game set in the ancient Roman Empire that leads you into a brutal world which can only be escaped through death or wealth. Should you choose the latter, you will rebuild a failing school of gladiators to forge your path to glory. You begin with managing a school on the edge of bankruptcy and slowly expand it by adding and upgrading buildings. Providing the best staff and facilities for gladiators fighting in your name will quickly pay off. To succeed in arenas you need to prepare suitable equipment and teach your gladiators skills that allow them to survive. Test your might on less prestigious arenas before you take on the mightiest warriors of the known world in the Roman Colosseum. Further in the game you will be facing diverse challenges. Your best gladiators might die or retire as you pursue significant goals, such as earning the patronage of the local governor. You might also be forced to relocate your school to avoid local conspiracies and seek fame in more wealthy regions.

If you remember that fortune favors the bold we will soon meet among the Roman elite.

Expand your ludus (gladiator school) to unlock new weapons and training options for your future champions. Will you take massive loans and try to make fast money on risky bets or will you ensure that no coin is wasted and all losses are calculated?

Acquire and train your slaves to have them become true gladiators. Combine different schools of combat to create the deadliest of combinations. Teach your best ones to use signature gladiator weapons such as the net and trident. More advanced techniques will come in handy when facing multiple opponents or against the claws and teeth of arena beasts.

Gladiators fight in simultaneous turns – before each turn you choose the best move for the gladiator to counter a tactic chosen by enemy AI. Enemy behavior will be radically different depending on what your enemy is fighting for. Is it gold, glory, or the pleasure of taking lives?

Karateka is a 2012 tribute to 1984 game of the same name, made for Apple II and Atari. The premise is simple: evil shogun imprisoned a girl and you need to save it by a series of honor melee fights one-on-one with shogun’s minions.

The game is really short, the run from the start to end takes for about 25-50 minutes usually. And if you want to compare the tribute with the original, well, it’s 50/50%: some say the original is still top-notch and the remake is so-so, and some think that even the original was mediocre, and the remake is only made the concept worse, ‘cause times had changed for 30 years, and you can’t enter the same river as it was before. And you shouldn’t, some would add. Not me, though.
