Chorus
Such wasted potential
Definitely try the demo first to see if this floats your boat. Be warned of some terrible design among the stunning gameplay
Chorvs is an impressive debut, featuring some exciting space action, decent visuals, and a story that has some promise. Unfortunately, it’s let down by some questionable choices about the art design, controls, and gameplay. This game really could’ve been exceptional but for each good element being balanced out with an equally terrible one. It’s games like these why Steam needs a middle rating rather than a thumbs up or down.

I usually don’t write reviews before I finished a game, but this one is the exception since it’s so damn good, I thought I spread the word a bit since I’m not seeing it get the attention it deserves…sadly. In short: this is worth EVERY PENNY, absolutely brilliant double A game and great value for the price.
Long version: So, the game is an arcade space combat shooter. If you’ve played Freelancer, Darks star one, Everspace etc…. then you know exactly what I mean. It’s not a full price game so expect some double A jank, but few and far between. The game also had no bugs whatsoever while playing, which is a breath of fresh air in today’s industry.

Sable
Sable is an incredibly enchanting game. Those who love self-paced exploration in a lovely open-world environment should not miss it. The artwork is striking, the OST by Japanese Breakfast is lovely, and there is just enough story and dialog to thread it all together.
This is a coming of age story. Played from a 3rd person perspective, you guide a young girl as she explores the world to choose a profession. There are collectibles, quests, and a host of landscapes (natural and man made). You travel by glider bike but can get off the bike to climb, run, jump, and glide. Some of the structures have puzzles which generally involve figuring out how to access all areas or collect quest items. The game has a very simple interface which is easy to use and provides a single area to view inventory, quest progress, maps, and settings.

This really is neat little game. I say little, because in the current crop of openworld-games this really did feel little. The scope of the overworld and do’able things and quests, all feels manageable. I didn’t feel like I had to visit a million points on the map, or find 1000 “jembies” for different powerups all the time. Although it’s not completely devoid of this stuff.
I in particular liked how the UI is almost exclusively context based and doesn’t overstay its welcome when it is not needed. It’s just Sable and her world. That seems like a simple mechanic, but I really appreciated the clean screen.

STAR WARS™: Squadrons
Star Wars: Squadrons is a superb multiplayer simcade space simulator with a steep learning curve and in-depth movement mechanics. The game is easy to learn, and moderately difficult to master. To be successful and get full enjoyment out of Squadrons, you must learn proper movement techniques such as boost gasping, dead drifting, and 0 throttle boosting. Squadrons is best when playing with others, and there are a lot of communities to choose from. TFA, TRA, NRN, Gray Squadron, Emperor’s Hammer, and others will help you learn how to fly and have many opportunities to fly with other pilots. The playerbase is slowly dwindling, meaning that a lot of the remaining active players are decently skilled at the game. You will be crushed and beaten badly if you come up against players who are much more skilled than you, which is why learning advanced movement techniques is so important. The game isn’t for everyone, and if you aren’t willing to put in a lot of hours learning these techniques, I can’t recommend the game.

The game looks great, no, beautiful. All models are true to Star Wars lore and very detailed. Sound effects are on point, and they’ve managed to add some non-canon game elements (because it’s meant to be fun, after all) without those elements being lore- or immersion breaking.
I haven’t played the multiplayer for a while now, so I can’t say if that’s still active, but it was great fun during the game’s peak.
The only thing that slightly annoyed me were the very forced diversity/social justice points in the single player story line. They felt absolutely shoehorned in, which is a shame because the single player campaign is otherwise a very well structured and typical Star Wars story.
