Levaluhta

“in 1674, reverend of Isokyrö, Israel Ulftanus wrote that human bones have risen up from Leväluhta spring throughout the ages”

Inspired by the book “Leväluhta” by Marko Hautala, the story revolves around an ancient burial site in Orismala, a struggling eldercare nurse, and a lonely old woman. Beautifully photographed 2D graphics inspired by movies like The Lighthouse, Night of the hunter, and Persona. With gameplay-driven storytelling and slow-paced claustrophobic dread, Leväluhta is a unique horror experience like no other.

  • MATURE HORROR

Noir horror set in real-world Finnish locations, no jumpscares or splatter.

  • UNIQUE GAMEPLAY

Classic adventure game mechanics but fully modernised with a heavy emphasis on movement and strategy. Play as a eldercare nurse without the resources for her job - to take care of an old patient and her house. Vacuum, make food, clean, fix, and so forth, based on job descriptions. Race against the clock, manage your stress levels, and fight against randomised daily complications.

  • PLAYER-DRIVEN INVESTIGATION

Taking a twist to the horror mansion trope, your patient has a small house with unexplained hidden layers. Uncover its secrets at your own pace, with your own smarts.

  • FOCUS ON REPLAYABILITY

One-time branching dialogues & small special randomised events that don’t show up on each playthrough. Instead of vast content, Leväluhta focuses on small, meaningful, curated details.

Decarnation

Decarnation

Where do you run when the monsters are chasing you from inside your mind?

Explore a haunting world, both real and metaphorical, and find the keys needed to battle inner and outer monsters. Get caught up in an intensely emotional story unfolding in a malignant, elaborate setting. Experience diverse gameplay featuring twisted puzzles, threatening creatures, lovecraftian environments, and metaphorical minigames.

Decarnation takes inspiration from the best 2D adventure-horror and survival-horror games from the past eras, as well as cult movies from Satoshi Kon (Perfect Blue) and David Lynch (Mulholland Drive).

Paris, 1990. Gloria is at the end of her rope. A struggling cabaret dancer dealing with the fraying of her relationships, career, and self-esteem, she takes on a new artistic endeavor sponsored by a mysterious benefactor. Would the generous proposal be Gloria’s lucky break, or something worse?

A survival story with layered psychological stakes, Decarnation explores the contrast between battling limitations in the physical realm, and the subconscious landscapes one can’t escape.

Decarnation is an emotional, startling story-driven experience that will keep you on your toes until the very end.

Decarnation mixes traditional survival horror elements (cryptic puzzle to solve, inhospitable environments to explore, lethal predators to avoid, terrifying boss to defeat, etc.) with a wide variety of symbolic minigames (puzzles, reflexes, rhythm, etc.) accounting for real life situations (performing a cabaret show on stage) or metaphorical ones.

Once uncovered, key elements of Gloria’s life aid her in defeating monsters in her dreams in unique battles that marry the grotesque and the sublime to represent her struggle for survival. Overcoming challenges in her dreams strengthens Gloria against real life difficulties, and her real life issues create new challenges in her dreams.

Eldritch University

Eldritch University

Eldritch University is a fun visual novel. I didn’t like it as much as Eldritch Academy, but I still thought it was a super good read overall. This game also sets up the possibility of a sequel. Eldritch Investigations anyone? :D

Real player with 12.7 hrs in game

This is an interesting VN that has one massive thing going for it – while it stylizes itself as a supernatural thriller, the best part about it is without any doubt the relationship between the protagonist, Kasumi, and Misaki, the girlfriend she was recently reconnected with after three years. Their story was rather briefly established in this game’s prequel, Eldritch Academy (mostly in bonus content, as they were secondary characters in that game), but here it developed into really satisfying, well-paced love drama about overcoming the baggage of the long years of separation forced by Misaki’s conservative mother, and the social stigma of being openly gay in Japan. Of course, this kind of story is nothing new, but here it was executed in such a natural-feeling and emotionally gratifying way that it think it genuinely stands out from your average yuri drama in a very positive way.

Candice DeBébé’s Incredibly Trick Lifestyle

Ahh, Candice Debebe’s incredibly trick lifestyle. Has been a long time my darling! How have you bee- dies

Candice debebe’s incredibly trick lifestyle is a very peculiar horror game. It has a unique setting, interesting and terrifying Monsters, and some hilarious bugs and glitches to expl- wait, oh ♥♥♥♥, they fixed those.♥♥♥♥♥♥

What is Candice Debebe’s incredibly trick lifestyle?

Candice debebe’s incredibly trick lifestyle is an indie horror game. It follows the player waking up in a very cramped room on either the upper decks or the lower decks of an abandoned cargo ship. You must find the equipment required to repair one of the three escape routes and get off the ship. There’s just one problem. You’re not alone.

Real player with 613.9 hrs in game

Somehow manages to be genuinely entertaining and one of the few games I’ve ever 100%.

Things to note:

Everything is in character. Store page, community discussions posts by the dev, every line of dialogue/piece of music. I don’t understand why you would do this to yourself and it makes everything so much better to be bewildered by a dev who can obviously pull off something decent (and this game shows it, especially with some of the puzzles) but instead puts out candice debebe.

Main draw is the music. It has no reason to end up being decent 75% of the time. Both games end up having at least one or two tracks that are genuinely really good and I hate that I know lyrics by now.

Lucid Dream Adventure

Lucid Dream Adventure

Lucid Dream is easy to recommend for anyone that likes a point&click adventure with creative puzzles and psychological narrative. The developers have been very active during this Early Access, constantly updating the UI and changing the logic behind the puzzles – making this experience more intuitive. It takes about 6-8 hours to beat, it really depends on which difficulty you start and how often you will rely on optional hints. The best part of Lucid Dream is a compelling story that has a very immersive narrative, music and visuals. You play as Lucy, a disabled girl that travels into her dreams in order to find a way to save her mother. Overall this has been one of the best Early Access titles that I have been a part of. Its awesome developers have absorbed all of the criticism and improved the game as much as they could; they even reworked the soundtrack several times just because a few individuals complained about it (mostly me).

So, this game is an absolute bug-fest. It seems right up my ally in terms of atmospheric design, puzzles, etc., but I was unable to get any enjoyment out of it due to the frustratingly game-breaking bugs. In short - it’s a point-and-click puzzle which has a tendency to make your items (yes the ones you need to progress and solve puzzles) disappear. On top of that the select level function is broken - at the moment of writing this review I am half way through the game (on my third restart noless) and only the first chapter is unlocked from the chapter select menu. There is no “restart” or “retry” level option, which means that if you happen to have an item randomly deleted and the game decided to autosave then you have to start a new game all over.

Mother Simulator

Mother Simulator

It’s a funny game and I can throw the robo-baby in the toilet but level 4 was just too impossible. The 120 second timer to feed yourself, wash and give the baby the pacifier, wash and cook breakfast, and change the diaper in a new house all under 2 minutes. You get hungry quickly, too. Although they could fix it to give you like 5 minutes or something. Remember its early access and it’s less than $2 so they could fix it and plus I think its worth it for all the laughs. I even hid the robo-baby in the refrigerator drawer and closed the fridge and the kitchen door and went into the bathroom. I really hope they work on level 4 being possible. But it’s still super funny so that’s why I’m reccomending it..

Mother Simulator is a game for the gaming platform Windows PC, in which you will take a role of a new mother. For coping with all difficulties which expect a young parent, you need steel nerves, fast reaction and, of course, your loving heart. Well, and those, who cope with all the tests, can expect the Grand Prize – the smile of your baby, a lovely, harmless and not evil baby. It’s a humorous project about a young parent’s difficult weekdays. If you feel worried, irritated, you don’t understand what’s going on and what you must do next, so don’t worry. We want to give you exactly these feelings in our game. At each new level the passing conditions become more complicated. But because of it the victory is more pleasant and your place in the mum’s top table is higher.

Re:Turn - One Way Trip

Re:Turn - One Way Trip

I wrote a super long review for this describing everything I enjoyed, the negatives, and the positives. Something I hardly ever do… and accidentally pressed back. While I go kms, you should play this game because it’s fun!

Also: This game did start to crash for me toward the end. It has been pointed out by many reviewers that it has some play issues, or makes your PC run hot. I wasn’t sure if this was the case because I didn’t have any issues with PC temp, but, it did start to crash by the end. I thought it might be a save file issue as it usually crashed right after I saved.

Re:Turn - One Way Trip is a good Horror, Adventure game. Okay what is the story.

Saki and her four friends are on a camping trip, a last hurrah before they have to enter the adult world after college.

But after a stupid argument everything goes to hell, her friends gone. But as Saki looks for them she discovers an old abandoned train, what Horrors will she find? All aboard for Pure Terror next stop evil.

So what is there to like about the game? The pixel art style/graphics is very good; it’s pretty detailed and nice to look at from the old broken old train.

! To the new train.

This game is absolutely stunning. From the portrait art, to the soundtrack (definitely would recommend adding that on if you choose to purchase it), to the amazingly well-written characters and story, this game is absolutely a gem in my collection which I have played and replayed time and time again.

Even though it’s listed as a horror, the gore is limited to the pixel sprites (which can be toggled), and descriptions - none of the CGs are graphic in nature. However, half of the fun is in finding the different ENDs to the paths Freya can choose to take, and seeing if you can discover them all (including the bonus ones). Thus, trying to think of ways to bring death unto yourself and others does end up as part of the goal.

I have played through a couple of times now and I love the story! In terms of bugs, there is only one that is of any significance to me; at the time of writing this review some of the achievements appear to be bugged, and although I have reached several “ENDs”, none of the achievements seem to have been unlocked

No matter however, I shall just wait for a hotfix and then have an excuse come come back and attempt to unlock the rest!!!
