Cooking Witch

Cooking Witch

If you’ve ever wanted the witch from Hansel and Gretel to get revenge, now’s your chance!

It’s not very often that I achieve every achievement that a game has in the first sitting. As much as I would like to its almost impossible. However, when I sat down to play VaragtP’s new release, Cooking Witch, I soon found myself hooked on its simplistic yet addictive gameplay.

The premise of the game is simple. You play the role of a witch. There’s a party going down in the woods. Your objective is to abduct children from said party and to drop them into your nearby cauldron. When you do so you get their meat to eat as well as hearts (health) and stars. It’s as straightforward as it sounds.

A very interesting game, requires you to have a very fast reaction speed. The style of old movies is also very good.

In the game, the aircraft can increase its own energy by attacking. When the energy is full, it will greatly increase the attack speed. After defeating the boss, you can enter the supply station to upgrade the weapon. This is a very good game, the upgrade system is done very well, I hope the author can add more types of weapon upgrades.

EDIT: 2/26/19 Record name change.

EDIT; 9/11/18 The issues I describe below of needing to acclimate in order to avoid hitting objects has substantially been dealt with admirably in several ways, in more than one update. MUCH more intuitive now. Thank you!

Full Disclosure: I LOVE TO FLY!!! (As a gamer, I mean.)

As such, I have a substantial number of Steam-based games that allow me to indulge this joyous affliction, the most recent being the wonderfully designed and remarkably addictive and entertaining Risky Wings (previously UBERFLIGHT.) Admittedly, flying games basically do one thing, and the measures of such games are:

Danger Forever

Danger Forever

Danger Forever is hardcore 3D scroll-shooter with rogue-lite elements.

_                                                Lone human rides her mecha-dragon

through hostile alien world of mechanoids and techno-demons_

Unlike most scrolling shooters, you actually fly through 3D environment — use it to your advantage, and beware bumping into walls or ground.

Also, instead of traditional showering enemies with bullets, you have to think ahead a bit — fuel/heat system adds some more depth to combat.

Levels are procedurally generated — each level is slightly different every time you play it

(but it’s not totally random of course).

Energy and materials obtained during level playthrough can be used to upgrade and customize you dragon.

You also need those materials and energy to build a spaceship to fight your way out of that hostile planet.

     F E A T U R E S

Explore over 100 levels in 6 distinct regions

World map is procedurally generated too, you can ’re-roll' your world.

Utilize elaborate scoring system to earn energy and materials needed for upgrades

The better you score the better gear you can afford.

Unlock new difficulty modes

On higher difficulty levels you’ll encounter enemies and hazards not present on ‘normal’ or ‘easy’.

Upgrade and customize your dragon

Abilities and weapon-modes are unlocked and upgraded for Azure and materials earned on levels.

Challenge yourself on specially designed infinite ‘survival’ levels

Survival levels are ranked on leaderboards.

FREEDOM: Hunt Kill Fly

FREEDOM: Hunt Kill Fly

I was finally able to find fishes near the rocks (4 set of semi submerged rocks) near the edge of the lake.

You must fly low and slow.

Come back in a hurry to nest, but eventually death bar will end process way too early.

By the way, the fishes on that spot are big, and plenty adequate for a meal to eaglettes.

They should not be already starving with such a generous quantities of food.

But that timer from hell does not think so.

Flying through the floating stars benefit no one.

You must collect a number of them, but impossible to do since timer shoots you out of the sky.

To be clear…I would recommend the game for under a $, like I paid and under the hopes that the Game goes anywhere. I would like to see better controls. Currently the right stick is used for speed and I would rather the triggers. I would also like to be able to look around while flying. The Demo is also incredibly short.

Let’s get the obvious cons out of the way first. The ground textures look like muddled shit and in some missions you won’t be able to tell the difference between the ground and the clouds(thankfully your instruments are still visible in 3rd person so you’ll know if you’re losing altitude). The rest of the game looks like an emulated PS2 game as it does run in whatever resolution your monitor supports without upscaling.

The only things that look good are water and smoke. Destroyed enemies will catch fire which lingers for the rest of the missions so by the time it’s over you’ll see fire and black smoke everywhere as you look around.

Next to action, racing, RTS, city management, classic arcade, and shmups, one genre of games I’ve always liked is that of the flight genre. Growing up with Ace Combat and Microsoft Flight Simulator, it was another genre that I’ve added to my gaming repertoire.

Enter Raiders Sphere 4th, a doujin game in the vein of the classic Ace Combat titles but with a science fiction vibe. The only (thus far) game in the series to have been localized, I’ve played and beaten the campaign of this game twice. So, how does it stack with that much experience?

Bird Game

Bird Game

It’s a simple by design, but very hard game. So if you want to just get a game for 1 evening to “just relax” this is not game for you.

But if you want some hardcore flying simulation with 2 bosses, each of whom has 30+ different attacks (no joke) and who by the end kill you with 1 hit, if you want that kind of old-school gameplay - this is game for you.

Pros:

1. Game is very challenging, and bosses are great. Levels are nicely designed too.

2. Music is fitting.

3. Graphics are also neat, you can choose between normal view and negative (my choice btw).

Full Review

It’s a bit of a challenge to describe how I feel about Bird Game. It seems at once heavily influenced by many games yet novel. Simultaneously relaxing and challenging. Playful, yet serious. Thoughtful, but occasionally, quite flawed. The way it finds a balance in its contrasting elements is so artful that it hurts to be disappointed by its shortcomings.

“Gorgeous 3D bullet hell action RPG that Touhou girls are flying!ヽ(=´▽'=)ノ”

[1] Intro

Touhou Mechanical Scrollery. This game is a Touhou Project fan game from developer Mikosansaho and publisher Phoenixx. It features the 3D bullet hell where flying Touhou girls hunt gigantic mecha spiders across gorgeous landscapes. Recently the game has been re-polished, this new update also fixes the mouse and keyboard support issues, and it keeps the frame stable. In other words, the time has come to take a look this game again!

Alright so normally I don’t review games, but I will drop one for this game. I got this game on launch and been playing it off and on since, due to a variety of reasons. On day one was there a lot of issues for a game that tried to delay to fix the issues? yes there was. However even then I got the issues fixed using a controller and just taking it out of fullscreen mode.

But here is my over all review either way. Is the game fun? Yes I feel it is very fun, with some similarities to other games I have played. It was my third game in the bullet hell-esque genre I have played, and I feel for a 3D Bullet hell, it game me what I wanted. Areas where verticality mattered versus some opponents, such as the Bat-Types and the Land Dragon types, and others where horizontal movement was more important, as seen with the Oni Type, the Sky dragon, and a few others.
