DEAD OR ALIVE 5 Last Round: Core Fighters
I love this game, but I’m not going to recommend it without severe reservations. The base is an excellent fighter, but the port is worse than the console versions in so many ways. Many of those ways concern the online multiplayer part of the game though, so if you’ve got a bunch of friends in your area to play this with they might not be so much of an issue.
I’m going to split this in two sections; the base game and the platform comparison. Scroll down if you want to read in what ways it’s worse (and better) than the PS4 version.

This is a difficult game for me to review.
In general, I fucking love the Dead or Alive games.
The fighting engine was classically fast and skillful without requiring knowledge of enjoyment-obliterating exploits or skin peelingly long sessions of practice to get to a basic level of gameplay.
Though it will historically be known as the series that boldly upheld the grand tradition of cheesecake and beefcake heavy character designs, the actual fighting system of advantage and reversal is much deeper in scope than nearly all of its peers, and spreading out the lengthy character movesets across less buttons means its easier for an unpracticed player picking up the controls for the first time to feel like they’re accomplishing something beyond just marveling at the various buff studly men and hot sassy ladies.

DEAD OR ALIVE 6
My Thoughts:
Dead or Alive 6 is now officially more Dead than Alive.
I’m not a hardcore Dead or Alive player, but it was one of the first fighting games that I committed to. The previous iteration of DOA, Dead or Alive 5 Last Round despite its issues is an amazing game. DOA6 is a game that I have been playing for a full year and instead of it being the next great entry in the DOA series, 6 is plagued with flawed mechanics, questionable balancing and some of the worst development support I think I’ve ever seen.

I’m not real fan of fighting game, but this game is the only one i can learn how its system working from tutorial mode and that will help me belong to play this game, for example:
-
Triangle system (Strike - Hold - Throw) and how to counter each other
-
How to combo (Stun opponent = Launch == Juggle)
-
Strike, Hold, Throw from BASIC to ADVANCED
-
Chain attack (how to cancel hit when you perform combo, juggle, bait opponent, etc…)
-
Wake up system, wake up kick, fast recovery (which help you make advantage or against opponent when you’re downing)

Acceleration of SUGURI 2
I made the first review when I had about 20 hours of playtime in total. Now it’s… a little bit more, but still not 7k. Anyway, I now have rights to say everything I think about the game.
First, I want to start with singleplayer, which is not where you are supposed to spend a lot time. When you are a new player, it will be a perfect place to start learning. As for me, I think it offers pretty challenging battles with CPU, and also CPU can teach you some basic stuff like simple combos and movement. Do NOT ignore singleplayer if you have just started, be it story, arcade or match mode.

Right out of the gate:
As a casual game, I would highly recommend AoS2. It’s an extremely fun 1-versus-1 game that combines the best of the shoot em' up genre and the fighting game genre for an explosive experience that no other game has replicated. But as a competitive game, I would not recommend AoS2. The metagame at a higher level is extremely unbalanced, both in character balance and in matchup dynamics, and gravitates towards defense and timeout to the point where not interacting with your opponent is the ideal.

Vanguard Princess
I have collected all of the trading cards, made a badge, have over a day played, and beaten the game on all dificulties. It is time for a review.
I personally love this game. Saki is my favorite character. Do I recommend this game? Yes, but under certain circumstances. First, let’s dive into the true pros and cons of this game. [READ EVERYTHING, INCLUDING MULTIPLAYER]
Pros:
-
Decent fighting system
-
The game runs perfectly fine (Even with WINE)
-
I got it for $1.50 or something like that on Amazon

Well, what can you expect? It’s just another fighting game.
Aside from it being a 2v2 Assist fighting game, the art/graphics in this game and fighting style does make it stand out compared to the other games. Who doesn’t like girls fighting against one another in a struggle for glory? While the game itself offers very little, the actual fighting portion is very enjoyable, but maybe too difficult. Mashing buttons as a beginner, or performing combos as an experienced verteran, this game is worth playing a few times times over.

Arcana Heart 3 LOVE MAX!!!!!
This game is quick to dismiss for its price tag and its initial presentation of anime-heavy content but it’s actually fun to pick up as a fighting game and let’s be honest we could all use some extra cuteness brighten a bad day.
-PROS-
Mechanics are what you will enjoy here because everyone is capable of dashing/canceling very easily. It’s not as “on-point” demanding like in Guilty Gear or others that require (Roman) canceling to be done only with certain moves with very specific frames of attack.

Pretty great fighter, although it will take some time to get used to it. If you can put aside the theme (take my word for it, it’s tolerable in game), you are in for a treat.
There are three main reasons the game sticks out as a 2D fighter:
- Homing button
You can use it to jet yourself towards the opponent, delay your attack, fly around projectiles, extend your combo, dodge attacks. No other fighter allows you to be this mobile in the air. It’s something that you will keep finding ways to exploit, it’s pretty great.

SNK HEROINES Tag Team Frenzy
First and foremost, huge thanks to Abstraction Games for bringing SNK Heroines to Steam. Really appreciate it.

Things I like:
The way your health and meter for special moves are tied together.
- It forces you to actively think about how you are going to use your special moves and when you should tag in your other character. For instance, if your opponent’s health is low enough to hit them with a finishing blow but your first character doesn’t have enough meter, you can do a combo to tag in your other character and finish them off instead. This gives the game a lot of depth, because you have to manage your meter carefully in order to win. Killing your opponent with your super is mandatory, so you can’t ignore this aspect of the game.

Is this like KOF?
No.
Is it like Street Fighter?
Nope.
Okay, is it at least DOA???
Well, if you’re asking if SNK girls in sexy outfits will be pummeling each other, then sure. But this isn’t your normal fighting game. Some people will either love or hate it. I own it on the Nintendo SWITCH and have been playing SNK Heroines since it came out. My girlfriend and I absolutely LOVE this game. We play pretty much all the current top fighters out there, but this one is definitely a unique, couch co-op blast. I really want to stress that if you are looking for a tactical fighter like Tekken, look elsewhere. This one is all about absurdity. It’s the kind of game you play with your honey or your buddies where losing can be pretty hilarious and just as fun as winning.

Koihime Enbu RyoRaiRai 恋姫†演武 ~遼来来~
In short, this game is fantastic and a great way to keep a fighting game simple without making it stupid.
This latest update makes the game look much better, adds some things and rebalances characters. A great buy if you already own the game, but this game is a great buy regardless of whether you’ve played it before or not. Simple fighting system, no airdashes (unlike other anime), and the assist just adds an extra special move to sort of “customize” your main character. The game is based off of counter-hitting the other player if possible, giving you a stun state to work with for a solid combo. Damage is fairly standard, not crazy, and complex combos are actually fairly simple.

Suprisingly not bad.
Before you decide to give it a try or not, here are some factors to consider:
1. The game can be played competitively. If not, you may think the game is unbalanced (still fun though). As soon as you have some experience from other fighting game (street fighter, gulity gear, killer instict…etc.) than you should be good to go.
Sadly, the game doesn’t have a tutorial mode, not even a bad one. You have to figure out in the training mode yourself. Yet most of the mechanics are pretty easy to figure out if you have some prior fighting game experience. Combo trials are hidden in the training mode, just let you know.

Koihime Enbu 恋姫†演武
well if you like the anime, or anime girls you probably could like this as long evade story mode… so here i will say all i think about the devolopers of this game… sadly i can’t put insults or only insults so this will be hard.
Let’s say you make a fighting game based in something famous, for example dragon ball, then put a story mode that you know all people want to play and put a difficulty curve that go from the char not move to hey i will block all you will do and if you not block me i will do a combo that will kill you. And now think that for make players lose time each time you lose not only i will put a lose screen but a continue screen that take you to char select screen but if you change chars you will start again from 1 only for make you lose time… that is koihime enbu a pain in the xxx that devoloper never disguise. I have finish the story 3 times and nope each time it not becomes more easy it becomes more stressfull seeing how i need to learn a char enough well to defend and do specials for win.

With the recent influx of 2D fighters on Steam, sometimes the key to getting noticed is to have a different approach. Koihime Enbu’s angle is “Romance of the Three Kingdoms”, but almost every character is a girl. Guan Yu? Cao Cao? Sun Shang Xiang!? All girls. Furthermore, this game is a spin-off of Koihime Musou, an adult visual-novel/strategy game about a young man who travels back in time to this Three Kingdoms era. To be honest, I’m a little surprised that Koihime Enbu is an awesome fighting game.

Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel
Very awesome fighting game.
It’s a cross-over fighting game, but I was able to enjoy it with no knowledge of most characters when I first started.
It’s an anime fighter, as one could tell from the anime artstyle. Thus, you will encounter some mechanics from similar games such as air-dashes, a focus on long and flashy combos, burst and roman cancel systems, etc.
Like other fighters of this subgenre, normals are split into three buttons: A, B, and C, representing Light, Medium, and Heavy attacks. This game also include additional buttons D and E for even slower and stronger normals, as well as a universal dash-cancelling system.

When I was spending a year away from my regular school at my local community college, I always hung out in a room on campus where there were guys playing YuGiOh, Vanguard, emulators via a Nintendo Wii, and one guy always playing various fighting games.
There were 3 I remember the most, Tekken 6, BlazBlue (Don’t remember which one though), and this game. I played it with him a few times, liked what I saw, but I couldn’t get my hands on it, lack of a Playstation to put the disc into and all that. So, when I woke up to see that this game got released on steam and I had a coupon given to me because of some cross-promotion with Skullgirls (another phenomenal fighter), I spent little time adding the money to my steam wallet to pick this one up.
