Nameless ~The one thing you must recall~

Nameless ~The one thing you must recall~

This is the only VN I’ve ever fully completed multiple times (if you can’t already tell by my play time). I don’t think any other game has hit me as hard emotionally, it’s just absolutely beautiful.

Heads up, my review is going to be long so TLDR;

Pros:

  • Masterful storytelling & great character development

  • Romance was done really well (you’ll feel the butterflies)

  • OST is one of my all time favorites

  • Great art

  • Voice acting was A+++++

  • Worth the money, at least 30+ hrs of gameplay even if you speed read

The Game Which Obviously Played YOU than You Playing It

I want to say first that the first ever teddy bear I got was from my dad and I never forgot about it, my mom (actually) more than me cherishes that toy and keeps it where I sleep. It maybe dirty and smelly but yeah she does not want to throw it away. It is pretty sweet actually. I also still like it and I have kept all my toys in a cupboard so that other kids could play when they come to my home.

Ladies and Gentleman this is obviously one of the greatest Otome visual novels I have ever played. The money I paid for it is absolutely 300% worth it. I have zero regrets. Chertiz is literally a pioneer in Otome games, they know what the hell the girls really want and with that in mind let’s start this review.

Cafe Deux Femmes

Cafe Deux Femmes

This is one of the 1st in this world..

Though these girls are not, at presnt, linked to others in the following stories, Boston, Aspen and Seatle are

in some of the others and the Creators say that this will change in the the the coming months.

I forgot that I had played this when it first came out as I got side tracked by the brilliant VN’s that followed in it’s wake.

I did enjoy this story,, 2 Love interests, both at different ends of the scale, a loving older sister who is very hard working and she is straight BUT,,, issues in that area and it’s over Thanks Giving.

It’s simple and short, but really nice. Just a cute little week in a life of changes. Nice arrangement of choices for little personality moments, but they kind of just add to basic tallies. A plus though is nice background music.

Lost in Secular Love

Lost in Secular Love

I noticed this game long time ago while searching for cute backgrounds and it’s finally translated into English! I’ll say right off the bat the translation is very decent. It’s my first voiced Chinese visual novel. It sounded quite new and peculiar for my ear but soon enough I really fell for it! I know one developer who is creating a Chinese learning game right now and I’m eager to try it, that’s how much I enjoyed the voice acting here. Not only the language but also music (the opening is amazing) and visuals are creating a unique atmosphere of a different culture.

Rating: 7/10 (“Good”)

Recommended for: People who enjoy romance. I would recommend this for a first time VN reader.

My route order: ZhiKong ZiQing HuiHai. I didn’t have a least favourite guy, but my favourite route was probably ZiQing’s.

Lost in Secular Love is a Chinese visual novel where you play as QiYe, a young girl from a noble family. Unfortunately, her family has fallen in status and become quite impoverished. As a result, QiYe disguises herself as a man and works at a restaurant. Her mother devises a plan to get her married to a monk; this would bring status back to their home as well as ensure that QiYe does not live on the streets. In addition, QiYe will be able to support her family by sending them an allowance.

A Wild Catgirl Appears!

A Wild Catgirl Appears!

To start out this review, I’m going to go ahead and say that I’m a dude who really appreciates kind of shoddy/nonsense VNs, so when I saw this game appear on the front page of Steam the day after the Holiday sale for about as much money as I had in my Steam Wallet, I was in. I went in with no expectations or desires, and that was definitely beneficial to the experience.

This game is just very innocent, like an 8 year old’s journal entry except with a little bit more cleavage. The writing looks like the authors used only the 100 most frequently used words in English, so it’s very easy and fast to read. This honestly would be a pretty good game for someone learning English as a second language. They go to a mall! A beach! A cafe! It reminds me of a Spanish 102 lesson, and it kept my attention more than a Spanish 102 lesson because it had anime cat girls with big boobs in it.

Alright, I’m trying to be real fair here on the game. This game is rough in so many ways. Just booting the game presented major challenges that do not lend to a sellable product:

No music on the title screen, bare bones UI of “Start” and “Load,” and the game crashes when you alt+enter to full screen. This is a major red flag and should have been polished considerably more.

As far as UI goes, the interface is buggy, skipping text is hard to stop when you want it to stop and going full screen makes the window spill out of your screen if you have a smaller monitor. Hitting the log button reveals a similar issue to the save and load screen of very hard to read text, but with the added issue of the background image failing to load due to a broken asset link. Slogging through the game becomes a severe pain with these issues, especially when replaying for the other endings.

Camp Palut

Camp Palut

“Camp Palut, a summer camp for teenage girls that boasted a long list of typical activities. But, there were a few things that the brochure failed to mention. The camp is home to a dangerous secret. Looking back, I’m not sure what I could have done differently. Nothing could have prepared me for what I witnessed there.”

Camp Palut is a spooky-cute sapphic visual novel with magic, mystery, and a glimpse of the supernatural. Featuring four different love interests with multiple endings, and separate but interlocking stories that lead to a thrilling conclusion.

Dandelion - Wishes brought to you -

A lovely, charming otome that seems silly on the outside, but is actually a touching tale about growing up, overcoming fear of abandonment, becoming independent and your own authentic person even if that leaves you alone. This is the first Cheritz game before Nameless. Instead of dolls turning into humans, here we have animals turning into…manimals? Those cat boys and bunny boys are basically fairytale characters with cat and bunny ears, cause why not…The game has that beautiful sadness and melancholy that can be found in Nameless and shares some themes, but without its twisted darkness. It is also not a pure visual novel, but a stat raiser. This is the one thing that’s a turn off for a lot of otome fans.

From the company with a soft spot for bittersweet endings comes the predecessor of “Nameless” and “Mystic Messenger” - Dandelion. It’s another favorite otome game of mine. Some routes were better than others, but it’s still enjoyable regardless.

So, you’re playing as Heejung Kim - a university student who’s passionate about art, but is under pressure thanks to her unreasonable mom’s high demands. You find 3 rabbits and 2 cats in a basket on your doorstep and decide to take them in. After you’ve grown attached to one of the animals, they all suddenly turn into humans who are fighting for your affection. But who sent them to you and why? You’ll have to play the game to find out.

Good art- bad story. Meaningful choices are actually just guesses that zap you dead if you guess wrong. It reminds me of a comic book someone could write about an immature 13 year old trash talking super villain. I had to force myself to finish it as it would not be fair to review it if I had not finished it. It was a struggle. The writer created an interesting world but the story leaves alot to be desired. Example: Main character is in a tough situation so we give him a new power or say he wasn’t really trying hard until now–ect. Save your money!!!

Fatal Twelve

Fatal Twelve

This game kicked my heart in the d***. Every. Single. Time.

With that said, let’s break it down.

Visuals:

There’s a good amount of visuals here, given the number of characters in the game. Some stunning, some sad, but all are good.

Voice Acting:

They have a good pool of talent, I thought until they started crying. I’m not entirely convinced that most of the VAs know how to cry, but that’s the only bad thing I have to say about them. Well, that and pain. They’re not good at that either. Apart from that, they’re believable, and play their roles extremely well.

Real player with 34.4 hrs in game

FATAL TWELVE is a Visual Novel lasting around 20 hours. You basically play as Shishimai Rinka, who gets its fate of being killed altered and lands in a battle between 12 people called “Divine Selection”, in which only 1 will ultimately survive.

tl;dr: A nice round up VN, where you can make a couple of choices leading to 7 different endings in total. The character depth is what this game is about.

Story:

The deadly survival game is explained right at the beginning. Though not all of its mechanics are very clear then, but you get to know them throughout the game. Each of the 12 participants of Divine Selection comes with 3 cards: Name - Cause of Death - Regret. Since only 3 at random are given to each participant and their causes of death undone, they have to learn these 3 cards from others to be able to eliminate them for good. You learn about this game lasting merely 12 weeks, so you always know exactly at which point you are through the entirety of the game. The mindset of our protagonist greatly depends of its relation to others, which will be the main point of making choices. You realise very early where the main story arcs will lead you, so the outcomes aren´t very surprising, though a narration style, beautiful artworks and character depths make up for it. The actual outcome might be known, but the details make this VN very thrilling nonetheless.

Life Can Be Amazing

Life Can Be Amazing

Again another wonderful Yuri VN Based around the Women of Bahamian Rhapsody, Colorado Cocoa Club and Detective Rosie Morgan,,,

You get the Answer as to why The Doctor was a one night stand for one..

This is based just Before Cocoa Club and about a week After Rosie bedded the Doctor..

This is a very interesting and cute story,, I think Paula’s Best friend is related to the Police Doctor,, dont

quote me on it but it seems she is.

Their friend Carrie is nuts but in a fun way and is the half Sister of Blake from Cocoa Club, Blake does mention a sister in that story.

Art style is cute and characters look fine but rest of the game is uninteresting and boring. When I play +18 visual novel game, I want to see lots of naughty scenes and naked chicks. There isn’t anything in this game that comes closer to naughty. You just unlock 3 pictures that doesn’t include nudity. There isn’t even a single animation. You can find more +18 stuff just by looking at Google Images.
