Overall: 3/5 Competent

A KIng’s Quest is a short RPG Maker MV game revolving around answering questions on human anatomy and physiology (even when the enemy is not remotely human.) The game self-parodies its strange world where everything revolves around being a medical professor, including an early question where you must know the exact name of the part of your foot you want to stomp on a slime with.

Due to its brief length, almost every object in the game world can be examined for some cheeky remark or a few extra gold pieces. Or a secret enemy, sometimes.

Skyland: Heart of the Mountain

Skyland: Heart of the Mountain

This game was totally useless. It was confusing and full of shyte half the time. I’m not even sure the writers understood the story half the time. It is a beyond convoluted futuristic end of the world type plot with characters dressed up like Lara Croft one minute and a Viking princess the other. There is all kinds of technical mumbo jumbo and very little explanation for anything. Sometimes it felt like Artifex was trying to be scientifically accurate instead of entertaining. We don’t give a damn if the technology is correct! Just give us a game that isn’t some 40 year old trekkie’s wet dream.

The Game Review

Game Visuals

I want to mention that the visual for the game is nicely done. The visuals can be adjusted in the game’s option menu. Please do note that this is an old game, it might not play well on wide screen monitors in full screen mode; due to the game’s format.

CRONEWORLD RPG ADVENTURE - 1

TL;DR:

There’s seemingly a fairly appealing JRPG (this one is Korean, btw) beneath all the weird presentation peculiarities - like the cumbersome interface design and the unorthodox way the game runs and plays from a tech standpoint. Definitely not for everyone. Suggested for the technically inclined and geekily adventurous gamer, perhaps of the older crowd, who would not be averse to enduring some technical hurdles and the uncoordinated confusion (gameplay-wise) that is at least the initial part of the game as the player is getting up to speed with game mechanics.

Modern Tales: Age of Invention

Modern Tales: Age of Invention

Modern Tales: Age of Invention was an impulse buy. It was on sale for £4.19 and I just really wanted to play a puzzle game. So I purchased, downloaded and started playing immediately. I have several issues with this game, but it’s generally good if you’re not looking for anything special.

PROS:

  • Art style is nice, though the talking animations are weird (but I expected this from a 4 quid Big Fish game tbh).

  • The puzzles are genuinely pretty fun to solve and the sound effects are super satisfying.
