CountryBalls Heroes
For this review I’m considering three things:
-
this is a new game (so bugs are expected)
-
the developers are indie so they might take longer to patch and update the game
-
if this game is on your radar you probably enjoy polandball/countryball meme comics.
So, I want to start off with the negatives. Nothing I hate more than reading through a review, getting hyped for the good, just to see some stuff that’s a deal breaker for me. We’ll start off with bugs/design issues:
SAVE GAME BUG
Probably the worst bug in the lot. It basically makes saves a pointless feature. Basically, if you load a save game all/most of the settlements disappear. They disappear from the map, from the quick bar to the right. Essentially destroying your save.

As an old Heroes 3 Fan, CountryBalls Heroes was a must buy for me.
Graphics are nicely drawn, animations are ok and the music is nice too. Nothing spectacular, but not bad either. I like the basic idea of HOMM 3 meets political incorrectness and the game has humor and charme. I got some chuckles here and there.
The gameplay is 100% HOMM 3, but a bit simpler and more shallow. You build your base, ride around the map with your hero, fighting for resources, producing more units until you’re strong enough to attack the opponent.

Memory Battle
Classic and Casual memory game, never get old, it’s fun and improves your memory! Has a nice 2d art. They created a “battle mode” that should be the twist… But tbh, i don’t feel like it have any “real twists”, almost same as classic mode but can take longer, and the board gets a bit easier since it gets divided between shield/sword cards, so you know what you’re looking for more easily.
So far you can play 1v1’s on local and it has remote play steam support, which is awesome, but a direct multiplayer and increased player cap (for classic) would be welcome. Also you can fight AI in three difficult settings (ez,normal, hard).

You’ve played memory before, right? Find the cards that match… Use the pairs as attack and defence in a fight. DLC for different cards. Can be solo, but it’s really better played 2player VS

Pray for Death
Amazing trip back to the hallowed days of 1996.
Feel all the frustration that comes from the absence of 20 years of video game progress.
Probably not worth the price tag.

Heroes of Might & Magic V: Tribes of the East
If you have never played a Heroes of Might and Magic game, shame on you. This series spans back to my early childhood. The Heroes game I played the most was WOG, a custom expansion for HoM&M3. I loved this series and logged countless hours into these games. They are indepth yet easy to pick up, hard most of the time unless you are a seasond vet.
Build up your town. Recruit Troops (this version allows upto 7th level units). Upgrade your buildings to get bounses, like resorces, spells, or your creature dwelling. In HoMM5 you can select from 2 differant upgrades for each creature type. You have a army that is lead by your hero(s). On the map you will be just one person, but if you attack a creature stack or another player the map closes in and you switch to battle. This is simalar to RPGs where u wander around a map and you trigger combat then cut screen, there is your party ready to kick some butt.

TL,DR: Treats Heroes 3 itch, but doesn’t offer much new.
Pros:
-
good ‘ole Heroes 3 with expanded hero and creature skill system
-
a bit too cartoonish, but still very solid and stylish graphics and overall design
-
every faction is very different gameplay-wise due to new global racial ability system
Cons:
-
too many crucial things are random-based, way too many for a TBS
-
low variety of interactive nodes on the map: either a guarded treasury, a permanent or temporary + to some stat or an outdoor variety of some sort of a town building. Some challenged nodes like “+1 luck to all owner’s heroes” or an architect’s hut that gives some discount on buildings in owner’s towns or allows to build twice per day would be nice. Alas

Medium Rare
Medium Rare is a local-multiplayer party game where you and your friends play as cute dragons!
Up to 4 players chase each other around arenas, breathe fire, & have a dragon-good time!
Hitting an opponent with dragon breath turns them into a… chicken leg! Score points and win by eating the most chicken legs!
Rounds only take a couple of minutes. The action is fast, easy to learn, and it’s fun for both new and experienced players!
The game’s two competitive modes are Death Match and Gauntlet. In Death Match, you play in quick one-round matches and you must eat the most chicken legs to win! In Gauntlet mode, you battle across hazard filled gauntlet maps! Score the most points over three rounds to the Gauntlet!
Sageball
Sage Ball is a local multiplayer sports game where players will use their character’s abilities in conjunction with each other to create amazing combos and great plays in order to score!
The rules of the game are simple, hit the ball into the opponent’s goal more than the opponent can hit the ball into yours. Scoring goes up to a predetermined number that is set prior to the start of the match. When one of the teams reaches the determined score mentioned above, the game ends.
_After displaying unparalleled magical feats over the ages such as immortality and unlimited energy, a mysterious Sage has been highly sought over to reveal his secrets. Naturally the sage proved to be quite elusive, and wouldn’t give his secrets away to just anyone for fear of falling into the wrong hands. For each appearance over the ages, he would select someone to become a champion as long as they triumphed over others in certain trials. These were trials that were always different every age, and the location was always different and initially hidden.
This time, the contestants found the challenge inside a pyramid with a court, the sage, and a single ball in the center of the court that he stood on. He told each challenger the rules for this competition. After days of preparation for the competition, word spread across the populous, and the championship for the powers of the Grand Sage began. Who will rise up among the rest to win this amazing competition?_
Floppy Heroes
A smashing evolution of an old formula. People who’ve played and enjoyed Ragdoll Masters, Ragdoll Kung Fu, Hammerfall, and other turn-of-the-century physics-based beat-em-ups will recognize the excellence of this title immediately.
For the uninitiated, you control a ragdoll character in a puppet fashion, flailing their weapons toward enemy weak points. In this game, armor provides some resistance to damage before falling off entirely, and further damage to un-armored limbs will result in dismemberment. Armor can provide offensive capabilities as well, which one-ups previous titles of this kind. An armored boot beats a bare skull, and even limbs holding weapons can be lopped off for proper disarming. Ranged weapons are included, and seem pretty fairly balanced with their limitations of reload speed and aiming precision. You can block with your weapons, as well as equip shields in your off-hand.

Let me start this off by saying I liked the game so much on my friends computer that I bought it to play on my own. I would have been willing to pay about 3-7$ for this game, if it works.
Now the real reason I put the “do not recommend:” the game refuses to open. I can get to the page where I can select resolution and whether it is windowed or not (I cannot change resolution or anything except for the windowed or not part), but this makes no difference. I can select windowed, hit play, and the game will proceed to open, play the (amazing) music, but just shows a black screen when I hover over the icon in the taskbar. If I click this icon, nothing happens. I have tried restarting my computer, uninstalling and reinstalling, verifying cache integrity, and looking online for something I might have missed. I DO want to play this game, badly, but without being able to play it I cannot give a good review. I feel these issues might have to do with windows 10, but I’m not sure. If you have a solution or an update that would fix this, I am watching for updates and am waiting for a response to this review.
