Hero’s Hour

Hero’s Hour

If you’re interested in Hero’s Hour, please wishlist and follow us :)

Hero’s Hour is an accessible, yet-deep and content-rich Strategy Roleplaying Game. Take control of your hero, explore the world, build up your town, fight fast-paced battles, level up your hero and amass an army large enough to take out the opponents - before they take you out.

Turn Based + Real Time

While exploring the overworld and developing your town and army are both turn-based, giving you time to think and plan out your next moves, in battles your units will do the best to fight for themselves in real time - all hundreds of them. Cast spells and give attack orders to swing the tide of battle - or just sit back and watch as your might unfolds.

Procedural Generation

Hero’s Hour brings impactful procedural generation to the strategy game formula, ensuring that every time you play, there will be new areas to explore and strange buildings to enhance your hero or army. Seek out obelisks to start you on small procedural quests that send you around the world. You won’t even be able to use the same build order each time you play the same faction.

Features

  • 10 factions with special mechanics, strengths and weaknesses

  • 20 hero classes, with a special skill each

  • 36 common hero skills

  • 134 units (without counting upgrades)

  • 70 unique unit abilities

  • 145 artifacts

  • 75 spells & abilities

  • Dozens of impactful map buildings

  • Local “hotseat” multiplayer

  • Co-op with other players or even with the AI

There’s a lot of stuff in this little game!

Being on the faster side compared to other turn based strategy games, you may even be able to finish the hotseat games that you start!

INDIE FANTASY LOCAL MULTIPLAYER GAME FOR FRIENDS AND FAMILY, SET UP ON THE WORLD OF ETERNALIA

Two games in one; Classic Arcade mode and First Person Medieval Shooter. There might be a third mode coming if you people like the videogame; a party RPG, integrating the story of the Essence Reaper Ritual with the mechanics of this videogame. You decide!

FEATURES AND CONTENTS

  • Local multiplayer fantasy game, for 1-4 players, sharing same screen.

  • Steam Play Together. Invite your friends to play with you even if they dont own a copy.

  • An Arcade mode campaign, to play with your friends or solo. Hack and Slash.

  • A First Person mode, following the same campaign than that of the Arcade mode.

  • An Arena mode; gather your party, venture forth and face five waves of enemies, each wave of increasing difficulty.

  • 5 different characters, each one with their uniques skills and combat styles.

  • Subttile and menus in three different languages; English, French and Spanish.

  • Beta version will have one full playable level. As we move forward, up to 4 more leves will be added.

  • Each level is set up in a different atmosphere, with different enemies.

The idea of creating this videogame came in when spending time with our young family members (e.g. nephews and niece) playing a videogame. It should be easy to play, not too many buttons, yet plenty of fun. We are scripting from the very beginning everything to accommodate three languages; English, French and Spanish, so the videogame will be available en those three languages.

We just give you for now a video and a couple of screen capture of the first tests.

We are thinking on adding a script to be able to import your own pictures to the game, so instead of having the 4 portraits of each character, you may import yours. I bet my niece and nephews would love that.

Alpha version of the videogame, actual game play, is working well.

Initial early version: integrating First Person Mode on split screen with main campaign, for up to 4 players;

GAME CONTROLLERS

You may use;

  • Xbox One controllers or similar

  • Keyboard & Mouse

LOCALISATION

I have been integrating different languages from the very beginning of programming / development. I use Dialogue System from Pixel Crushers which allows easy integration, and for specific short texts as in the Main Menu, I have just hardcode it. Once you choose a language, Dialogue System keeps / save that info for the entire videgame, so upon load an scene, Dialogue System load all previous saved data including language chosen.

Well thought out and follows the LoTR story very well, including movie voice clips. As a bonus, content from the books is hidden around which was really fun to find.

Dungeon Siege III

Dungeon Siege III

Dungeon Siege III is an action R.P.G. developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Square Enix. For centuries Legionnaires have protected the nation of Ehb until they were betrayed and all but driven to the brink of extinction. Years later, now that evil has returned to Ehb the people turn to the few remaining Legionnaires for the protection of the past. As an heir to the Legion will you accept this plea for help? Dungeon Siege III is the latest entry in the beloved long running classic roleplaying series from Square Enix. It is worth nothing though that this title is quite different from the previous games in the series.

Awwwh “Dungeon Siege III”… I can’t have a clear opinion about you. No, wait. I have…

First of all: Dungeon Siege I & (especially) Dungeon Siege II were one really big part of my gaming history while I was a kid, I loved them! So, I was really excited when I heard that a new “Dungeon Siege”-game will come out. But then I saw the negative reviews of how disappointed the people were… so I waited for a sale and grabbed it, with good conscience. The whole series only cost me 5 bucks - so I left out my daily dosis of coffee and pizza… nevermind.

R.A.W. Realms of Ancient War

R.A.W. Realms of Ancient War

Wow this game somehow manages to do everything wrong for an RPG.

  • The combat is floaty;

  • The character classes are pretty much the same in terms of damage, skills, health, defence, etc.

  • The skills are generic (and I am being generous here) with vaue descriptions such as “deals high damage to enemies in an area”;

  • The enemies have variation only in terms of skin but function the same;

  • There’s clown cars, some of which endless with no indication if you should keep fighting or not;

  • Most fighting takes place on narrow paths/corridors and the modus operandi of the game is just mass crowd spawns, so any hope for tactical play goes out the window;

IN A WORD: MAYBE

IN SHORT:

WHAT TO EXPECT: Pretty graphics. Linear but replayable levels. Solid, if repetitive gameplay. Limited character creation. Decent range of skills. Decent range of equippable items.

ACHIEVEMENTS: ONE BROKEN. ONE GLITCHED.

STATUS: COMPLETED.

WHEN TO BUY: ONLY ON SALE.

More info below….

THE LOWDOWN:

Realms of Ancient War is a solid if average ARPG set in a familiar style fantasy world. Choose a character from: Warrior, Mage & Rogue. Move through 26 or so replayable levels killing a variety of animal, humanoid and etheral/undead enemy types. Face a few bosses and demi-bosses. Perform limited sub-quests. Gain experience to spend on a variety of unique upgradeable skills. Equip characters with a variety of armor, weapons and jewelry. Open chests. Trade with a vendors for unwanted items to buy ones you do. Get to the end of the level to make the next one available. Rinse and repeat.

LEGO® Harry Potter: Years 5-7

LEGO® Harry Potter: Years 5-7

First of all, I love both LEGO and most TT games (especially the STAR WARS games) and I grew up with Harry Potter.

Storywise, there is some really good, typical, visual humor and the Story is of course amazing, if you enjoy Harry Potter.

The big deal with this game is however, that the raw gameplay is fantastic. Of course, you have to own a controller, because the game is, in my opinion, unplayable without one. But if you’ve got that figured out, there is nothing between you and an amazing game.

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 (Action-adventure)

Notes: Controller highly recommended! Ginormous snake warning!

I’ll skip the usual options and general gameplay description since I covered it all in my review of the first Lego HP game HERE . There are a few changes to the core of the game besides the expected changes in scenery.

First off, the graphics are more complex than in the first installment. The changes help to illustrate the growth of the characters, both in physical age and in maturity. Those familiar with the HP series of books/movies know that eventually we move away from Hogwarts and into entirely new areas. LEGO HP handles these new areas very nicely, and they manage to tie everything together in a way that feels both isolated and connected at the same time.

Manic Archers

Manic Archers

One of the best party games I’ve played! Unique, the artstyle is pure nostalgia, and the gameplay is just hilarious/random. This is a great party game, and love it’s Steam Co-Op compatible.

Well, first: you really do need a controller in order to play, it won’t work with mouse and keyboard. But even if it did, you’d still want a controller, I’d say. So now I probably need to buy a better controller for this…

The game has an awesome retro vibe, especially the music. The title doesn’t disappoint: the gameplay is frantic. You’re an archer, jumping around, shooting enemies, dodging projectiles, potentially hitting yourself while trying to get rid of the waves of enemies spawning. Fortunately your ammunition is also constantly spawning in random locations, because you need to keep supplied. And what an arsenal you can collect. It reminds me of the loadout of worms or xenon 2: absolutely ridiculously overpowered.

Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince

Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince

Playing Trine 4 right after Finishing T1,2 and 3.. The revert and a step back to Trine 2 design rejuvenate my faith for the game.

First of all, the concerning about Trine 4 continuing what they did in Trine 3 is gone. Trine 3 never existed in Trine 4 universe other than the inherrited assets and ideas (which also ruined Trine 4 in a way).

The Devs start a new story in Trine 4 with nothing related to Trine 3. Trine 3 never existed. You don’t get to see the ending of Trine 3, but you also don’t have to worry about getting half a game continued from a previous badly made one. This here is a full game of its own.

achievements

easy 100% - achievements order you to either finish a level or collect all obtainables. plenty of guides, plus it isn’t hard to find them on your own. DLC doesn’t contain any achievements, so you may skip it and still get 100% (unlike in Trine 2)

Trine 2 or Trine 4?

any of them will be good. Trine 4 has better graphics, polished HUD and better UX; Trine 2 has a better puzzle-combat flow. in other words one game nailed the presentation, another got gameplay right - but either of them will be a nice choice. I prefer Trine 2, tho

next games are better

it is hard to review Trine 1, with Trine 2 and Trine 4 - much better and polished games - being around, but reviewing the game solely on the following games' experience isn’t fair, so let’s check game’s its own merits but keep in mind that the latter installments are far superior than Trine 1. if you are stingy on money, then look for Trine 2 or Trine 4 instead
