Bleeding Moons

Bleeding Moons

A unique and entertaining point and click adventure game in the vein of Space Pilgrim about war, politics, love and everything in between. The game is more of an interactive novel, the puzzle part is very easy, too easy I would say, so if you are expecting to get creative about picking things and combining them in the inventory, this is not the game for you.

The game tackles adult issues such as rape and abuse, but very tastefully, which is testament to the overall excellent writing. The world is rich with characters and they all have a story, even the many NPCs will tell you their tale. The creators really took their time with every detail, including some humorous: in a city with many stray dogs, of course you will find poop on the street :) … which should have been an achievement itself.

First of all, I’m writing this review as a huge THANK YOU to the creator. I just finished the game and I’m absolutely in love with it! I spent about a good 10 hours playing through the story and because I’m that kind of guy that wants to know everything, I logged over 200 saves. I’ll be going back to my final save later this week to try something a little different. After that I’m likely to try again from the beginning to see what I might be able to change.

! I was surprised to find out I was locked out of Luna’s ending but the rest were available to me

Played a bit more, and decided to add some new and fresh feelings. I definitely recommend this game, like 99 out of 100. Though lots of texts, even the opening took me like more than an hour (I’m a slow reader, though).

Highlight of the game, I think, is the way of building characters. Each character have distinct personalities and personal stories, for like 30-40 characters? It also built a pretty complete world, with reasonable explanation for all things I can think of.

This is a mixture of romance and strategy, like half-half. Yet I guess a reason why this game is not very popular is that neither is out-standing. I mean, both are great, but if compare each element to famous games like Civilization (famous strategy game) or 蝶の毒 華の鎖 (famous romance game), neither part stands out. I don’t play strategy games, so I only can speak romance-wise. The number of characters is both the tame’s highlight and weakness. With so many characters, it is just impossible to make everyone’s story equally impressive. Personally, only one character’s route made me feel like in love. All other romance route makes me feel average-good but not impressive (or maybe I’m too harsh). Though most non-romance routes are beautiful.

Highly recommended.

-Romance parts are optional and not required to finish or to enjoy the game!!!

-It has two difficulty settings, normal and difficult.

-You can’t just click your way through the game. If you fail the strategy part then that means game over.

-Has partial voice acting. The 7 “poster boy” knights are all voiced, while the 20 kights are not voiced. Some of the Lords are

voiced, as well as the Princess’ two aides.

-Don’t focus too much on voiced characters. The rest of the cast all have their own stories and the majority of the characters can

Divided Reigns

Divided Reigns

I never review games. But I know this game is very new and I’d love to convince someone to give it a try.

Divided Reigns starts with your main character, Ailfred, who is the captain of an army who has just conquered a nation but committed atrocities in the process. But his conscience isn’t being silent about it, and his efforts to change course lead to a series of events that go far deeper then he could have ever imagined.

If you’re looking for a high quality movie style cut scenes and fifteen different ways to mash your buttons in combat, this is not your game. If you loved the classic turn-style JRPG’s (think Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger) and are looking for a fresh take on them with an impressive storyline, you’re in for some terrific hours of gaming.

This is an edited re-review

I’ll start this off with the positives:

This dev duo is incredibly responsive to their community. You never know what to expect when something comes out of an indie group, but they seem to go above and beyond trying to fix issues IMMEDIATELY after launch. My original review was a down vote because of the amount of major bugs I had ran into. I recorded them here and even emailed more to their developer-email. I can’t say if they’ve all been fixed, but I know at least one was rectified within 24 hours of reporting it.

9/10

20 hrs for a fast reader

18+ Patch: https://www.johren.games/games/download/haremkingdom-dlc-en/

For:
  • People who want harem routes:

  • People who want a light hearted comedy

Not For:
  • People who want a deep story

  • People who want a 1 on 1 relationship with a character

  • People turned off by incest (half-sister)

  • People annoyed by minor bugs with the VN system

HaremKingdom is the 2020 Smee game, winner of a 2020 pink award from Moe Game Award, the 4th officially localized Smee game, and the 1st one to be localized by Shiravune. Like in typical Smee fashion this is a very light hearted comedy featuring virgin heroines, but this time Smee uses the recently popular Isekai setting and features harems instead of single pairings. Also in typical Smee fashion, this is better than every Smee game that came before it, imo, but that recommendation comes with a lot of caveats.

I swear Japanese can actually make good comedy when they try, HaremKingdom is the proof. The game is absolutely littered with over-the-top humor and intentional ridiculousness, it takes tropes from isekai and fairytale fantasies and twists the shit out of them to fit into the game’s crazy story. Comedy is all about subverting expectations, after all. When it comes to jokes, well, it’s almost always the delivery that sells. And yeah… This game does deliver. Seriously, HaremKingdom is legitimately the funniest game (VN) I’ve played (read) this year, no contest. Royal Seal of Approval.

The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante — Chapter 1&2

The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante — Chapter 1&2

Wonderful experience!

Much depends on how will the plot develop further but what is already seen in the game is incredible.

Advantages:

  • Universe. Game world is interesting. I think a lot will be uncovered by further progress of the story, but what’s seen now makes me curious at least. Not sure about how much I like certain details, like miltiple lifes a person is given with (yet it’s well integrated with game mechanics). Overall, the universe provides for very interesting story developments and reflection.

Never liked interactive fiction, this one seemed interesting though and had me hooked.

One of he good thing is that the choices are very hard sometimes, and that harder choices actually cost attribute points. If you’ve done a series of actions that has taken up all your willpower you might only be able to helplessly watch as some terrible thing happens before your eyes since you can’t muster up the will to act. This gives a new dimension to player choices which I had never thought of and is extremely interesting, especially when thinking of doing another playthrough.

Shutterbug Stud

Shutterbug Stud

Shutterbug Stud is a fun, character driven, scavenger hunt, where the player is commissioned to take pictures of local girls for a calendar. As such, the player must roam the town and countryside looking for willing girls to photograph, and fulfilling tasks for ~almost~ willing girls. For every (quality) picture you deliver you are paid, and are one step closer to the goal of a finished calendar and, hopefully, a fat wallet.

An RPG Maker game, enjoy exploring the town, seeing the sights (and the girls) and maybe finding some hidden secrets to discover.

The core game is filled with characters and pictures that range from cute to a little suggestive. A planned expansion has pictures ranging from suggestive to very suggestive, but still fairly tame. Further expansions (or third party art) may push these limits even further.

FEATURING:

  • • 12 Major Characters

  • • 24 Reward Pictures

  • • Scenic Morlock Lake (Town and Environs) to Explore

  • • Standard RPG Maker Controller Support

  • • Art package free (found in core game files)

  • • DLC Coming Soon!

Wonderland Nights: White Rabbit’s Diary

Wonderland Nights: White Rabbit’s Diary

You are the white rabbit working for the queen of hearts. There is a 4 day submit with the other kings and queens from the other countries in wonderland to decide how they will govern between war, magic, trade and borders. For the 4 days you’re there it’s your job to schedule the activities between the kings, queens and their daughters/sons/advisors.

Quite an interesting game, I’d say. Basically, you will unlock mini plots and stories between the characters depending on who you pair off with who. Re-playability is a given. It’s highly advisable to play it many many times to get all of the plots and it will involve a lot of trial and error for a lot of the acheivements without a guide. Luckily for you, 1 complete playthrough is quite short so you wont have to worry.

City of Atlantis

City of Atlantis

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1273100/Builders_of_Greece/

City of Atlantis is an isometric city-building survival game set in the world of the mythical Land of Atlantis. According to legend, the city far surpassed other nations in terms of scientific, military, and economic advancement. One day, however, it vanished from the face of the Earth. Now, after centuries, it re-emerges from the ocean depths.

City management is key. Plan each expansion in such a way that it ensures maximum efficiency of production chains and transportation. Workaround non-workable areas and utilize gathered knowledge to constantly progress and improve. A well-designed city will significantly improve its economic efficiency, greatly increasing your income. Be cautious though! Bad decisions and neglecting certain aspects of city life can result in the tragic death of an entire society.

Atlantis must not fall. Defend your city from tsunamis by building huge water breakers and reinforcing the outer layers. Build defensive structures to fend off armies of ancient warriors from Greece and Egypt. Control the spread of deadly diseases.

The life of the keepers of Atlantis is priceless. Make sure that their work is not interrupted and they are protected from harm. Keep providing them with the necessary tools and create safe working conditions. Citizens are very difficult to replace as their education and experience don’t come cheap. Each will represent a faculty such as military, education, or health. They might excel in many areas such as agriculture, hygiene, architecture, technology, militarism, medicine, politics, commerce, philosophy, or art.

The city of Atlantis has a mission. It must discover and preserve the knowledge of the world. Train and equip heroes who will travel across the land and gather knowledge about the culture, history, law, art, and science. Make sure that you send the right people for the job and ensure that they have the best possible equipment at their disposal.

Court of Ashes

Court of Ashes

Full disclosure, I’m the brother to one of the Court of Ashes developers and brother-in-law to the other. That probably means my review won’t mean much to you but I still have a good reason to write it.

Over the last month I and some others have been beta-testing the game and providing detailed feedback. During my time testing I was very vocal in my comments. When something didn’t feel right I wrote it down and let them know right away. And no matter how often I or someone else brought something up did the developers ever make an excuse. When something could be better they made it better. Entire portions of the game were reworked based on the comments the developers received and the game had become so much better for it.

I stumbled on this game in my search list. I often browse indie games for little gems. This is one of them. This is a simple game that I believe is meant to teach you something about morality and service.

After the first 10 mins of playing the game, I thought there must have been a mistake at steam to give this game away for free!

Then I read the Dev message. I enjoyed this little game and would like to give you something in return (As Artimis may have said). “You have the makings of a thriving enterprise. You need only leverage the excess material at your feet, and like the fishmonger in my story arch who is told to turn low grad cuts into broth. Transmute what you believe to be refuse into accelerant.”
