Short but mostly alright defense game

Every now and then I give a shot for a game that looks pretty bad for some reason. For this one, it was very plain looking achievements: each of them just “shoot X arrows”. The defending archer shoots them automatically. In other words, you get them by passing time in the game.

So I expected this to be bad. It was okay instead! For a €0.50 it’s just barely recommendable if you want a silly casual game and some achievements.

OceanCraft

OceanCraft

I am going to play this a bit :) There is no options menu and I can not seem to get it out of full screen mode on the desktop nor have I been able to move it to another display; frustrated with that :(

Movement it not easy on the raft, it is teleport only no other option and does not seem to work well with the index controllers I usually have to try a few times to get it to work. It is difficult to move from side to side fast enough to get stuff. also frustrating.

I suppose, With the extreme lack of Good survival VR there is this. For now it will have to do.

Ocean Craft is a game I would encourage you to purchase. if the dev team updates this game it can be one of the best VR games. at this point we have hit a wall, cooking is interactive as you must prep the food before you cook it with fishing technical as you have to catch the fish you can see. farming is also fun as it is a direct process of putting your crop into the dirt and watering it. building is easy but at this point isnt needed unless you plan to mass produce duplicates of your basic needs. you can create your character from a list of various styles and colors and connecting to friends is never a problem. you cannot go into the water and the shark is not a threat. it is easy to starve or die of dehydration and your characters head is so large you eat food by mistake. after a few hours you will find that you have everything you need that is available to just survive on your raft. overall it is a great vr game to play with friends or family .. game has great potential.

Niche - a genetics survival game

Niche - a genetics survival game

I’ve been searching for a game with breeding mechanics, and this game scratched that itch I’ve had for so long now. I love how it’s not just a “Red parent and blue parent have purple child” simple type of breeding game, tho those are fun to play too. It actually uses real life genetics. So there are some genes that are dominant/recessive, co-dominance, incomplete dominance… and you run into real problems if you inbreed too much.

There are so many genes! You can make your nichelings be primarily herbevores or carnavores. You can make them fly or swim. They can survive hot climates, cold climates, and even poisonous swamp environments. Or you can make them anything inbetween! And these are just the genes to help you survive the environment! There are tons more genes that are purely cosmetic

Niche – a genetics survival game, is of course an early access game. It revolves around these creatures, which aren’t anything specific. Many people describe them as cats and bunnies combined, with plenty more. You start off with Adam and Eve, and must breed them, occasionally using the Mutation Menu in hopes of getting specific or better genetics for your creatures. As you go on you must strategically pick each creature you mate together in order to get the most optimal genetics. There are many islands to go to and fro. During your adventure you’ll come across many challenges, of course. This includes carnivores, who come to of course eat your creatures (or, really, just to kill them), or going into harder islands you’ll encounter birds, who will eat your babies if they’re not within a hexagon (or square, step, spot) of the baby. There’s also Dodomingos who will take every chance they get to steal a nest, and if you attack it, it’ll attract more Dodomingos, and perhaps even carnivores. Perhaps you’ll encounter a Rogue Male (previously Horny Male) who will breed with your females if you’re not watching. There’s also leeches who will attach to unsuspecting creatures, even if they’re on the shore. There are also a few biome specific creatures, such as the different (Hearing, Seeing, and Smelling) Apes, who you’re suppose to run from rather than fight. Or the Mountain Biome creatures, such as Walrus Deer (Who I believe is prey) Arctic Ramfox, who is also like the carnivore, and will steal meat you haven’t picked up, or the infamous Balance Bear. The Balance Bear is the Apes of the Mountain biome. You’re suppose to run from it, rather than fight it, and it only appears during snow.

Pandora : Wild Origins

Pandora : Wild Origins

I highly recommend Pandora Wild Origins to anyone who enjoys animal simulators with beautiful graphics !

I really love playing a mountain lion with all its well-made animations

The quests at the beginning explain well how to control our animal (I recommend following them until, at least, the one giving you level 2)

Then we’re ready to explore with plenty of activities (hunting, surviving, meeting a partner, raising our babies…)

I particularly enjoy having skill points to either specialize in hunting fast preys or killing agressiv ones and, yes, there’s kind of 2 categories of preys, which is pretty interesting

WolfQuest: Classic

WolfQuest: Classic

WolfQuest is a game I had always wanted since I was about 9 years old. This was at a time when wolves were my favorite animals, and I loved drawing them and learning about them. I had finally managed to get my mom to let me download the original free version onto our shared family laptop. Flashforward to when 2.7 came out, I was facinated by all the new options that became available and all the new adjustments. It was one of the first games I had bought on steam.

This is a game that I grew up with, even though my love for wolves may have lessened and my interests have changed. Wolfquest is always updating and improving, as the developers try their best to make the experience more enjoyable and efficient for everyone. Wolfquest is my most played game, and for a good reason.

To start off, yes, I have played this game an unbearable amount of time. I feel as though I can give an adequate review with that in mind.

The graphics haven’t changed, clearly, and while it might be nice if they did, I believe they simply do not have the funds. I like the nostalgic feel, though, from 2.5. They’ve added new creatures-all evolving around these graphics-which are foxes, cougars, and moose. The only unkillable creatures are the eagle (it only appears to kill pups and you can run into it to chase it off) and the bear (you can get it down to 25% health, but it has to be in a multiplayer game to get that to happen before it despawns.) Only elk, moose and wolves can cross rivers, so you can herd fast animals to the water so that they turn around and you can bite them. Elk are the only animals that spawn together, consisting of 8 cows and 1 bull. Cows are easy to kill if you have even stats and can be done by yourself, and so can bulls, but with bulls it’s easier on multiplayer if you’re looking for quick exp. There are also stanger wolves that will attack your pups if the territory marking gets low enough, although I’ve never checked to see if they are killable.

Orczz

Orczz

Orczz is a tower/lane defense game and a blatant ripoff of Plants Vs Zombies. Gameplay is mostly identical.

One of the simple rules of thumb when it comes to ripping off games is that you have to be better than the game you’re ripping off, and exceed that game is most respects. Orczz is inferior in all respects. The resolution is fixed and there’s not even widescreen support, the game runs in 4:3 pillarbox, despite being released in 2016. The $4.50 price tag is a joke. I do not recommend this game.

SURVIVORS LEFT: X

SURVIVORS LEFT: X

Well. I’m finally done with this game. I am the actual world first, you could say. The game is fun, pixel and has the unusual controls. It could make you an evening or two, the game is totally worth 2$.

Real player with 2.3 hrs in game

The game is straight forward and creative! Your goal is to make the little pixel folk survive by pushing the right letter key, beware if you think this is a simple.

The game challenges you in a clear but somewhat cryptic way which tickles your brain. The difficulty goes from trivial to surprising, you’ll find yourself facepalming while laughing at yourself in the best possible way whenever you make a silly mistake that you thought you wouldn’t do. The game is endearing and has fun surprises every now and then, you get good feeling messages to keep you going.
