Reactor Tech²

Reactor Tech²

A game about watching number rise. But what is life, if not watching the year count rise and your bank account dwindle?

Now, I’ve just finished my first “complete” playthrough and there are a few things I want to talk about. Let’s start with the most important: most of the negative reviews are old. The UI isn’t perfect but it’s not bad and same with the tutorial. In my entire playtime I’ve only found what I think was a bug once.

The artstyle, music and sound effects are gorgeous.

DO NOT buy this game expecting something similar to a city/base builder. Actually you build very few structures, and spend most of the time upgrading your existing buildings, changing the engineering cells and min-maxing the different configurations.

It has the marks of an interesting, fun little game, however…

Be warned:

it’s not really release-ready, regardless what they claim.

The game is full of annoying bugs and overlooked illogical elements, the controls are inconsistent, the whole thing is sorely in need of a UI/UX overview, it’s hard to navigate, hard to sort out what’s what.

Currently expansion is impossible, due to a heating issue.

And in my personal opinion it does not look good.

I’ll persist, maybe it’ll be a good game; currently it’s a beta, that’s not very playable.

Gameplay / Story

Insects where the world is moving? Exactly, you read that right because that is the content of this game. The invasion begins from the planet Zardoz. This planet is ruled by the alien race and is under the command of train rapoids. One day she came down from heaven, who likes her, disgusting, nasty insects. But it’s not just insects, because they can mind control over all insect rights, in order to wage them and against us, to gradually deposit the planet. The first battle takes place in our house. You have to feel yourself room by room against all kinds of crawlers and flying enemies. As in every classic TD, waves wave weirs and the level consistently gold-plated with 3 stars. You collect technology points that are used in your towers to be gold-plated, to enjoy new special attacks or other bonuses. This means fight and make sure they haven’t even thought about hearing the phase phase over. Destroy the problem before it becomes a problem!

I hate the fact that you don’t have the option to just play regular chess. How hard would it be to add such option. Also it annoys me very much how you can’t just get rid of that stupid “You Won!” pop-up so you can just look at the board and go through the older moves. It HAS to analyze it online in a browser. Other than that, the game is a good way of learning chess for beginners.

So I think i’ve played this game enough to write what I think about it so far. So, being the first person to reach 1000 trophies, I already see a problem. There comes a point in the difficulty curve where nobody will be able to beat anyone else. I see this becoming an issue in a week or so as I feel people will obtain such high levels on their reliks that they won’t be able to be beaten. The struggle begins at around level 16. This is when the challenges become so long that it is almost impossible to beat them without using some third party program to track what is happening and copying from there. At the same time, you also are able to pay for the gems to purchase pack openings, and with enough microtransactions, I feel someone could become the #1 player and never be able to be beaten. For example, someone who pays for enough packs to reach level 20 in each puzzle could easily hold the top unless someone uses a recording software to track everything and play it back for themselves.

Pros:

Its really a great Puzzle game to compare your skill whit other People.

The learning Curve is also gud its easy at the beginning and get’s harder whit the time.

Cons:

As one of the top player I Also see the same Problem how DJ b0nK!. Someone could just make his puzzle on level 20 whit the pay factor. So you could not beat it anymore whitout using third party programms and even whit them i believ it is not so easy to beat. The problem beginns when you reach level 16 the Puzzle getting so long that you can make only 1 mistake and rewatch the hole think befor your time run’s out. But the Puzzle are So long that is whit level 16 Pretty hard to remember evrything in the right order

Will of the Gods

Fun and enjoyable, maybe even a bit addicting game to play with friends.

Bots are allright, but after while you start to learn their pattern, and beat them again and again.

If you have friends to play with, I recommend this game.

This game is actually pretty fun. Nothing special but it is only 3 euros.

  • Cheap

  • Fun time killer

  • Can give a real challenge when mutators are active

  • Easy achievements

  • Easy Steam cards

  • Supports the Xbox 360 controller

  • Limited multiplayer (only local or with Steam friends)

  • Too easy when no mutators are active

  • Single player gets boring since the AI is dumb

  • Mutators are a little unfair towards the player

  • Mouse moves too slowly

Hexonomy

Hexonomy

Hexonomy is a game of strategy and economics. Choose from hundreds of different businesses to build and use the resources at your disposal to create the largest economic empire before time runs out. Be sure to keep your eyes open for any weaknesses in your opponents business strategy, placing the right business, at the right time, in the right place, could mean the end of it all for your opponent.

GAMEPLAY

Start with a blank slate. You begin by creating Resource nodes on the map. These will set the basis of the game. Where you place your first resources could affect the outcome of the entire game. All businesses derive from a resources in some shape or form.

From there, you advance into Tiers. Each Tier requires a business from the Tier below it. For example, a Tier 12 business requires a Tier 1 supplier. A Tier 6 supplier requires a Tier 5 supplier. And Tier 1 suppliers always require Resources. The higher the Tier, the bigger the risk, and the bigger the reward. Higher tiers will requires a wider variety of supplies from multiple businesses, so you have to be sure that all the suppliers are met. For each supplier on the map that supplies your business, you get a boost to efficiency, which results in more money for you.

If you own the supplier to your business, you get a HUGE discount on supplies. Meaning, chaining the suppliers and business makes great economical sense when possible. But that may not always be the case.

THE CATCH

There can only ever be ONE of any business. Which means if you need birch wood, and your opponent owns the only tree farm, you HAVE to buy from him. You cannot decline to buy from a supplier. If the supplier is available, you have to buy from them, and you have to pay their price. Meaning, if you know your opponent needs Gold in the future for their Jewelry brokerage, it would be wise to put down a Gold mine if they haven’t already. You would profit tremendously selling to your opponent, they wouldn’t get a discount, and that means leverage by trying to hike the price up as much as possible.

However, they can do the same to you, so its wise to be careful about leaving any vulnerabilities in your supply chain. These vulnerabilities sometimes may be unavoidable, since the higher Tier business may already require resources that your opponent bought early in the game. This is where prediction and smart calculations will win you the game.

TACTICS

Businesses location and information varies as well. Certain business only do well in certain time of the year (the time of the game is calculated in a 12 month system, using economic quarters and sprints). Some businesses have higher shipping costs than others. Some require a higher amount of resources to produce their product. Other business may have to be placed next to other tiles. Some business cant be within x amount of tiles of another business.

These placement restrictions and variables make it a little harder to create good economic chains. However, they can also be used to your advantage in order to put your opponent in a tough spot. If you know what their strategy is, you can restrict certain businesses from being built by creating others that counter those businesses. Knowing the supply and demand will help you overcome this as you learn about the Hexonomy.

UPGRADES

Once you have businesses placed, you can start thinking about how to upgrade. There are many types of modifiers in the game. Ones that apply to the whole board, ones that apply to all your businesses only, some that affect an area, and some that affect a single business. You can purchase these modifiers for Capital. By doing this, it will effectively cost you Net Worth, but in the long run, may help generate significantly more income. Spend wisely.

WINNING AND LOSING

As the game goes on, you are constantly trying to increase your company’s Net Worth. The more property you own, and the more successful businesses you have, and the more Capital your businesses earned you, the higher your company’s value. The player with the highest Net Worth at the end of time is the winner.

Create the empire you want! You can choose a hundred different paths to victory, as long as you have a great strategic and economical mind!
