3rd eye

3rd eye

The first thing you need to know about 3rd Eye is that its illustrator is Koto Inari. Whereas most Touhou artists try to make ZUN’s girls cuter, lovelier and more stylish, Koto Inari gives them uncanny, twisted, often morbid or even mutilated forms.

You won’t be drooling over your favourite Gensoukyans in this one!

But that’s not why you’d play 3rd Eye anyway. It’s a gloomy, psychological horror adventure game with fairly simple puzzles. Solutions are usually found quickly so long as you investigate all objects you come across. Sometimes you’ll get different results or find invisible points of interest if you activate your Third Eye mode first. Not that much logical thinking is required, as the majority of items you pick up are used automatically once you interact with the object or person they are intended for.

TL;DR:

  • Diet fran bow with touhou characters.

  • If you are a touhou fan and you are on the mood for a scary game. Go for it. You gonna love it.

  • if you like this artstyle and atmosphere: you gonna love it.

  • If you come looking for more fran bow just keep in mind this is a way smaller game in scale but I bet you will love it. Like a small delicious snack.

  • if you know nothing about touhou you may not recognize or make sense of a lot locations, behaviours or jokes but you don’t need to know that. The game gives enough hints on what to do. You will enjoy it.

You need to go room to room hoping Sakuya does not intervene while searching for 6 books to steal and escape all while not being caught by Patchouli, nor making too much noise as to wake Flandre. Be careful, Koakuma could be hiding among those books.

The items and books randomly spawn apart for the first book which triggers everything once you take it. Each run is different and requires you to have a bit of strategy to making it out alive; Gathering the books is the easy part, maintaining your noise level, stamina and figuring out when to use items makes a challenge of getting out alive.

You can buy Blood & Bacon for the same price (half the price at the time of writing this as it’s on sale) as this game, and that game has 10 times the effort or charm this game could even hope to have.

Features of this game: MSPaint Graphics aside from the one good sprite in the game, less than 2 hours of gameplay depending on if you get lucky, unbalanced mechanics, no actual 3D character models aside from your own bizarre viewmodel, powerups taken directly from Baldi, which this is a ripoff of.

The Midnight Sanctuary

The Midnight Sanctuary

With a vibe like a ps1 game time forgot, the Midnight Sanctuary is the most singular VN I’ve ever played. It’s like… the Deadly Premonition of VNs, though its highs and lows aren’t as extreme.

It doesn’t do everything perfectly, and while its visuals are strikingly unique I wish there had been a shadow shader to at least give SOME volume to its shapes. It breaks pretty much every rule in 3D animation… and because of it, I’m going to be thinking about it for a long time to come.

Nice and sweet gameplay experience, very good indeed with Voices included. This game is small but creative, filled with strange atmosphere as well as a great story. While most of the visual novels chose to display itself with pictures, this game creates a unique style which has something to do with old school 3D animation. And as it takes impact in game, it puts all of the factors together in an inquisitive format. Recommended.

Hey bro , my note operating system is win10, there is no any stuck, the scary part is not bad, currently playing the sixth chapter, have time to continue playing~

A very interesting game! Mildly spooky and seems like a walking simulator at first. Then the difficultly ramps up at about chapter 5, where I am currently stuck because I’m terrible at hiding. 3

The game runs well and I haven’t had any problems with it aside from me being bad. Worth a try at the very least! I’ll update my review if I’m ever able to beat it. :)

Midwintar

Midwintar

Midwintär catches you at Khazar’s Pass.

You shelter in a cave as the days and nights grow long and cold,

as the snow seals you in and as the world darkens.

Midwintär is a narrative-driven stealth action game inspired by medieval horror folklore that combines careful tactical planning with fast-paced arcade execution and innovative gossip mechanics. Play and switch between three protagonists - a werewolf, a vampire, and a moon witch - to exact your revenge on a vicious religious cult.

Off-Kilter Sunny Horror On the outside, Midwintär takes place among sunny, medieval villages populated by friendly, hard-working, and devoted inhabitants. Stay overnight, though, and you might be horrified to reveal the true nature of their sacred rituals. The world of Midwintär is gruesome and dark but also funny.

Sun / Moon Gameplay Cycle Midwintär features a 3-minute day-night cycle that changes your abilities. You must use your daytime skills such as lock-picking or spreading rumours among villagers to best prepare the terrain for the night-time havoc when you transform into a bloodthirsty, overpowered monster.

Gossip Mechanics Each villager in Midwintär has their own suspicion-meter you can influence by gossiping and spreading rumors about other villagers, and there is also a panic-meter that changes the AI behaviour of all villagers on the map. You can use this against villagers - hide the firewood to lure the lumberjack into the night, kill him near the chapel to incriminate the priest, and later spread rumours on seeing him covered in blood. He’ll be hanged in no time!

Three Playable Characters You will be able to choose, play and switch between three playable characters - a werewolf, a vampire, and a moon witch - each of whom possesses a distinctive skillset and boasts a different playstyle.

Non-linear Skilltree You will be able to customize the skillset and playstyle of each character by opting to complete alternate missions in levels, which will reward you with a special bonus skill of your choice. Will your werewolf hone his terrifying howl, or will he become one with the wolf-packs of the forest?

Co-Op Multiplayer Midwintär will feature a split-screen and a local multiplayer for up to three players, enabling all three characters to fight together.

The corrupt and self-righteous religious institution Oblique Order is attempting to destroy the peaceful cohabitation of people and magical creatures in the pagan world of Midwintär, and enforce their order by uniting people against the powers of the wild. You must stop them before they exterminate your kind…

Midwintär starts off as a revenge story that slowly shifts into an exploration about our relationship to the unknown, and about the limits of what we can hope to control or understand.

WEREWOLF

The main protagonist is the werewolf, a former disciple of the Oblique Order, disillusioned and out for vengeance. During the game, he is guided by the voice of Midwintär, an ancient force of nature. His skills revolve around spreading panic and using brute force.

VAMPIRE

The vampire, once a powerful force of the night, his might now reduced by the spells of men. He cannot cross running water nor enter houses uninvited, but his power is in his allure - he can enthrall people to do his bidding, or forge blood links to ensure undying loyalty.

MOON WITCH

Then, there is the moon witch. Saved just before she was burned at the stake, she had felt on her skin the terror of order, and wishes to rid the world of their influence. Her skills revolve around misdirecting suspicion at others and using concoctions to alter their behaviour.

“Attending the Masked Meeting, you overhear their plans - they have already set all things in motion.”

The theme of religion has been flagging up for me as of late and I sure hope it’s not a sign from above… The only other similarly themed horror game that I’ve reviewed was Lucius but that was about inflicting pain being inspired by the Omen films. It would be fine, had it not Intersect with another sub-genre I had NO prior experience at all (ZILCH)- FMV games! Hold for shock… I have come across many on Steam, but not once did I see the appeal behind them- if I wanted to watch something…you know where I’m going with this!?

Spooky, cause like i’m afraid of literally every bug that ever existed.

I don’t understand why the first like hour was just black though.

The game seemed long at the start but faster when things started going.

I don’t know if this is going to get updates or more story but overall pretty spooky man.

The story is pretty good and the art is too.

For what is I don’t feel that it would be worth $1 as the story is kinda short.

But if you like this sorta spooky text story then I definitely recommend, but this game just ain’t my cup of tea.

In hindsight, I should have known this, but there is absolutely zero gameplay. However, it is a very interesting story which is thoroughly enhanced by the sound effects. It does what it does well, but it really doesn’t do much. A little bit overpriced even with the low price of .99.

Food Delivery Service has promise, but does not yet feel like a proper game.

The story is interesting but that is about all it has. The play is fair to middling for a game of this price and the story means you’ll endure that quality of play for longer than you want to.

  • If you have enjoyed other Kimidori games you will likely enjoy this game, but be aware that it is less polished

  • If you have not played a Kimidori game, hold off on this one and play Forklift Load or Lost Egg as they are enjoyable and far more complete game experiences.
