The Shepherd

After finding an old picture of your grandfather on a camel, you decide to leave the city and set off into the serenity of the desert. In order to become a great rider, just like he was. Train your herd, befriend desert-folk, fight predators, and navigate the mysteries of the desert.

Key Features

  • Protect your sheep from predators in turn-based battles where your attacks are made using a unique time-based bar mechanic that minimizes your dependence on luck. Each of these predators has their own special attacks and abilities.

  • Feed your sheep as they roam around the grassland eating grass patches they encounter, or if they’re lucky stumbling upon special flowers which increase their stats. Once the sheep have been fed, you can shave off their wool to sell in the market.

  • Buy and upgrade your weapons to help you defeat stronger predators. Each weapon has a different battle bar that can be enhanced with upgrades.

  • Strengthen your sheep by increasing their core stats of beauty, fertility and agility.

  • Breed your sheep to make various genetic combinations each with their own appearance and attributes.

  • Meet variety of desert-folk and help them with their problems. Help them and they will help you back with gifts, some helpful advice, and some not so helpful advice.

  • Find the 6 mystic wells by seeking out the maps that will lead to them. When your sheep drink from these wells you will be able to select special upgrades for them. Unique to each bread.

Legendary Journeys

Legendary Journeys

So, this game is rough right now but it has all the pieces to be a decent blobber. Folks don’t make those anymore, so I strongly suggest supporting this game if you have the means.

It has several classes, races, stats and skills that make up ye olde fashioned crpg. Now it just needs to be cleaned up and more content added but the basic framework is there. I found the monk, bard, necromancer to be incomplete at best.

There are skill levels initiate, novice, expert, master. Most of the expert trainers are missing as the land they live in hasn’t been developed. You can level up to max but it’s not in questing, just endless respawns of mobs. There are some higher level mobs to make it less tedious.

If you are old school, like me, and loved playing Might and Magic, you will love this game as well. Yes there are quite a few bugs, but it is EA, as soon as I watched the video, I immediately bought it, knew it was my cup of tea..so to speak. Most of the bugs are fairly minor(more annoying than anything). The one that stops me is when I get to the temple, all my icons in the HUD disappear, as soon as I enter and cannot move other than spin around. But reading the discussions, the developer is very active, and addresses the issues. So with that in mind, try the demo first( I did not, cause it is my type of game). The map to this game is huge, when it gets done there will be many hours that will go into playing this Journey. I know I cannot wait, so I am off to start a new party. :)

I was going to protect this game because of the nice memories, but I can’t at the moment.

There are only 5 servers shown 88-92 (I bet it will eventually get to hundreds, glad that doesn’t show them all and say “you can’t join this server”), in the old browser version, servers had different timezones, from those five, 3 have the same time and the other 2 has -1 hour… It would be cool if you could actually see the timezones before creating a character, I made one for all those servers just to get dissapointed… I know the rest is some grind and P2W stuff, but not sure if I should play with the time issue, should I wait for other servers?

Edit #2

After completing what i believe to be most of the new content and testing the balance changes that came with the latest update, I can gladly say this game is in a pretty good place now. I’ll address the problems I had in the previous patch below and how they were fixed below.

Fist off as always is combat. Enemies now more consistently take damage, so long as you are fully invested in what ever type you choose. There’s really not a lot of room for using multiple forms of combat, if you’re gonna go for automatics or rifles, you have to go in. You’re not gonna have enough points left over for other weapon skills to still have enough points for other skills unless you’re importing a character from the first game that’s some ungodly high level. One final thing to note about combat is that melee enemies still seem to do crazy amounts of damage. This wouldn’t be too much of an issue if they didn’t stun and crit you as often as they do. I swear i must have been crit more times in one hour of this game that the entire campaign of the previous one. Not that it’s too much of an issue, I found that as long as you have enough AP you can run away and shoot every other turn. Just make sure you avoid anyone with armor and a knuckleduster.

Quick and dirty review

Pros:

-Updated interface

-Perk system

-Weapon mods

-No need to buy the first game if you want to experience the atom world

-The world is still a fucked up hellscape with random and various strokes of gray as most choices just like the first don’t have a good ending just people surviving

cons:

-its not fully released yet AND I NEED MY GOOD RPG GAME FIX NOW!

Full review of what i so far think of the game:

So far i’m once again enjoying the atom world this definitely an expansion and for the full experience you should play the first game so you can import your character over and gain a better understanding of both the world and whats going on in this story, but you don’t have to as this can be played alone and with out context from the previous story if you just want a taste before possibly deciding to buy the previous game. While this isn’t as harsh as the previous game you can up the difficulty if needed as people that import there character may find this to be a bit too easy or too hard depending on your builds as you wont be able to fill in gaps using companions right away so for more for those importing characters you may want to even start a new one from scratch, but that’s just my own view you should always give a chance to your current build and see how it turns out. As for the overall story and not revealing spoilers you are thrown into searching for a solution to a very large and imminent threat the world still retains its bleak outset with many citizens within Trudograd suffering within the great city and some having grown soft inside its walls making certain decisions and quests just like the previous game not having the desired effect you want or a happy ending if there even is one. I would simply say this is the Atom team giving us a wonderful expansion and if you cant wait and need a taste give it a try or wait for the full release and get the full product as if you don’t want to wait for updates.

FINAL FANTASY II

FINAL FANTASY II

I’ve always loved FF2. I realize most people do not. But I’ve probably replayed it more than any of the others, honestly, due to how freely you can customize your party. It’s just so fun and satisfying to increase your strengths in any manner you wish, and this remaster makes that experience better than ever.

I hope I don’t get in trouble for this, but FF2 was the game that got me interested in emulation back when I was younger and perhaps not so scrupulous. This was before the game had seen an official English translation (in Origins). I had just gotten into computers and the Internet, and I loved Final Fantasy (the original, that is). I still have a printout of Zach Keene’s FF1 walkthrough (dated July 1996, if memory serves; printed March 2000/2001) in a stack of notebooks right on my dresser. It was on the early fansite Mysidia.com (Nintendotaku) that I saw a link to Final Fantasy Fever, and on that website I discovered what was then called “FF2j”. It all just sounded so cool, this game like my beloved FF1, that had never been released outside Japan. I just had to play it, and embarked on a frustrating journey to find the means to do so. Long story short, I was deeply engrossed from start to finish… sadomasochistic HP training, canceling hundreds of magic commands, and all.

The definitive version of a stillborn mess of a game.

If you’re reading this, I’m sure by now you’re seen review upon review calling out the terrible experimental leveling and progression system in the game. But how is the rest of the game? Can’t you just read a guide, figure out how to navigate the leveling system and then enjoy the game from there? Well, I’m here to tell you, the answer is NO.

I’m going to talk about the REST of the game that I rarely see mentioned. Outside of the leveling system, the game is pretty bad all-around, here’s a few of its most egregious faults.

Deepest Chamber

Deepest Chamber

2 days in is too soon to give a full evaluation, but I am certainly enjoying this early access game. It’s a crowded genre, and this game is not without its similarities to others. However there are stand out aspects to this game that I greatly appreciate. The enemy combat prediction is unlike I’ve seen before and very enjoyable to dive into for each of the classes. Each enemy has a variety of various abilities, each tied to its own cool down timer, and fully visible. Building my decks as i get to know the enemy better has been a joy to evolve.

Deepest Chamber is an interesting title, with great visuals mixing elements from Darkest Dungeons and Slay the Spire.

I agree with a lot of the reviews, both hoping to see the development of the game in the future, but also the negative side, such as lack of card synergy, trinket management and cluttered UI.

A downside I would like to add is the evolving difficulty.

  • Whenever you complete a certain amount of kills of various enemies, you will be able to “unlock” them into more opponents you will meet in future runs.
