In my opinion weakest title in the series for two reason:

Just one campaign, so it’s quite a bit shorter than the others

The new faction doesn’t really feel at all central to the story. Sure you field naga units but the story is entirely centered around humans with the faction just being randomly attached. It could just as well be orcs or possums and nothing would change.

Still the game is good enough to give it a thumbs up. If you are looking to enter the series for a first time I’d start with the others.

surprisingly fun

hard mode is very difficult. It forces you to get good to advance. but it’s still very doable. A puzzle with a thousand possible moves. a good challenge.

It’s very much more of a puzzle game than an RPG, but it’s still like an RPG in that any advantage you earn you keep

Also the undo button is great. You can go back about 30 fights. Great for testing a course of action

First I played on hard mode. It was pretty great for a while, but midway through the second zone it started to get really slow, because I was struggling to find ways to proceed without dying. I thought “well, it was fun while it lasted. I definitely got my money’s worth out of it already.” and was about to just be done with it. But then I thought I’d try normal mode instead. Started over on normal, and it definitely went a lot faster. But it turned out to be too easy after having played hard. I had literally 10x as much health saved up by the time I got to where I stopped on hard mode. No risk at all. But! the second run gave me some ideas. So I started over again on hard, and this time did better. made better use of my resources, and was able to save up a little more. and it paid off. Was enough to let me keep going.

This game is brilliant! Alot of fun if you like strategic/puzzley RPG games.

This was my first ever “Magic tower” game and i enjoyed it thorougly, its amazingly well designed, great music too!

The price is super cheap for what you get if you ask me, i think this game would easily be worth 5$.

The dev was also kind enough to help me with my savefile personally when i made a mistake that couldnt be undone.

I rate it 8.5/10

Battle for Esturia

I’m really mixed on this one, I hate to say. Personally, I love the look/feel/style, but there’s a few things that hold it back for my personal tastes.

First off, I can’t stand the “all your units go” and “all the enemies go” style of “tactical” game. It’s just a bunch of back and forth dogpiling and removes the potential for so many mechanics.

I also was surprised to see only 6 or so classes, each of which only has 5 or so skills. The game doesn’t have any controller support, which isn’t a big deal (but would flow nicely for the style of the game), and is weirdly lacking in full screen.. alt-enter doesn’t work either, you just get the options of “small window” and “big window.”

An 80’s style, retro RPG which seems to be influenced mainly by Ultima games, maybe with a sprinkle of Zelda as well in terms of dungeons (usually has a boss blocked by a special key). It is a party based RPG with turn based battles that take place directly on the map. Like most Ultima’s, you start with one character and all others are found during game play and are set classes. The game is open world, although the world is smaller than most RPG’s. Unlike Ultima, the dungeons are also the same 2d, looking straight down view. The controls are very simple, point and click for movement or using skills, etc with no keyboard needed (never tried controller so not sure if it supports that).

Kim

Kim

Backed on Kickstarter and now a review two things i rarely do. Unless i feel something is special which Kim most certainly is in my opinion.

First off i have never read the book but i have now purchased and it’s on my reading list.

Kim is like a geography, history and survival game all rolled into one.

The first thing that appealed to me was that the gameplay reminded me of one of my favorite ever games Burntime a post apocalyptic scavenging game ( hint for your next game pleeeease devolpers this game design is perfect for it).

Normally I don’t do reviews on the games I play, but when it comes to Kim I really felt that I should do one because of two things.

  1. First is obviosuly the merit to the game itself. It is really enjoyable, unique and probably one of the best indie games i have come across. Once you start a playthrough, you just immerse yourself in the character, the beautiful settings and the writing it offers. The music is lovely, so the deluxe edition is reccommended.

Gameplay wise, having to weigh in the pros and cons of actions as well as taking into account of the limited time and resources available to the character in the playthrough is the strongest element of the game. Basically, you have to make smart choices to score high but at the same time you also get to choose the high road or the low road in making decisions and that will put your own morality to the test, which I really like to see in all kinds of games.

Build 1.1.6 review

This is an Indiana Jones (Temple of Doom/ Raiders of the Lost Ark) inspired role play tactics game that is suitable for players relatively new to tactical games. This is because each skirmish is generally resolved within 5 minutes. The adventure itself can last an hour or so depending on your choices and the number of sectors (maps) assigned to that adventure. Each adventure sector will always start and end at defined locations, but the possible routes are always procedurally generated. You can save after any encounter has been resolved.

🎤Introduction

Pathway is a turn-based rogue-like that takes its core mechanics inspired by the Xcom series and its art style and story inspired by Indiana Jones. Neither of these hinders the game because it’s not original, in fact these two combined work well together. Though the rogue-like elements don’t suit the strategic and cautious gameplay style very well and overall it makes the game more repetitive and frustrating than it needs to be.

Apocalyptic Adventure: Episode 1

Apocalyptic Adventure: Episode 1

A Gem, yet to be Found

As the store page states it, this game is made by a small team and is designated as an early access title. But early access is not the right word for what we got here so far. Think about Apocalyptic Adventure: Episode 1 as an advanced Demo of what this series might can become in the near future. The coremechanics are already fleshed out, the menu and backpack system is on a good way, Your inventory, which can be grabbed from your back, works as you place it in the world intuitively. Especially while crafting weapons and tools at one of the many workbenches, you get a feeling for the intuitive “grabbing in the bag” to get your resourcess. In addition to the backpack storage on your back for big things, the player got a small pouch on the lef hip in which utility items, like stones, bombs and ammo can be stored and quickly acessed. To get rid of the infected hordes which come at you as you progress threw the map, the player mostly relies on melee combat. While beeing able to use your fists to push the infected away, the game tells you quite early that the use of tools, handcrafted weapons and traps are the way to go against the undead. Handgun combat is also part of the game, while ammo is always low and it is meant as the last devestating defence in the most tragic situations.

This seems like a good quality merchant trading game, but it seems like the game has you running annoying errands sometimes. The main menu is in Chinese when you start, and you have to change it to English.

Misha Adventures

Misha Adventures

Tells a breathtaking, beautiful and loveable story. This is more of an adventure game than the usual click-and-point-collect-to-solve-puzzles genre of game, the story is well developed and alternated for a video game, heavily story driven, and each chapter has an independent title that keep it to the point.

Real player with 12.0 hrs in game

Misha start his adventures and we can help him get to end of levels. You encounter with different obstacls that you need to overcome but it’s not so hard and you can make this. Good music, beautiful background, minibear wearing a hat (so cute), many heavy and easy levels.

Nomads of Driftland

Nomads of Driftland

Very entertaining game with innovative mechanisms. I can recommend this title to all RTS and god game fans. It felt great to move islands around the world, discover new lands to unlock new units. Unlike in Driftland base game, this free expansion allows the player to manually control the units and does not provide multiple choices of buildings to build, which makes the player have to combine and explore new lands to diversify their kingdom.

Do not get discouraged by the maps order. It seems that it is sorted by mission type, and it felt little boring to play three defences in a row, but it gets better later on. However, be aware that the maps are challenging.

Real player with 16.9 hrs in game

So much to do with the free content, I can only imagine what the game is like once you purchase it. So much potential. I’m a big fan of the Nomads aspect which feels more like an RTS to me. The base game is more economy and micromanaging but harder to deal with threats because it is so limiting on defense.
