Tales From Off-Peak City Vol. 1
Tales from Off-Peak City is the third game in Cosmo D’s series, after Off-Peak itself, and The Norwood Suite. While playing both of those games isn’t necessary to enjoy this one, it is recommended, as there will be references to the characters in the previous games. (And, y’know, Off-Peak’s free.) At its core, Tales is a walking-and-talking game, exploring the surreal locale of the corner of July Avenue and Yam Street. Make pizza, take pictures, get caught up in about three different conspiracies.

Tales from off-peak city is a third installment of the series of games that take place in the Cosmo D universe. Just like in the Cosmo D’s other games it features a colorful cast of characters that oftentimes verge on nonsensicality but it nevers goes too far and so retains some relatability and feeling that you can piece together what is actually happening in the city - that it’s not an Inland empire kind of unreachable avant-garde. This, i feel, motivates the player to explore this absurd, surreal and intriguing world.

Pattern
This isn’t really a game. It is more of a work of art and a story.
There is hardly any game play. There is a small stamina mechanic, but you are mostly just able to explore the environment. At least for me, this was more about slowing down and enjoying the beautiful scenery.
There aren’t that many areas either. There are only four. But they are all very, very lovely to wander about in.
The other part of this is the story. To summarize (minor spoiler warning?), The game developer talks about his experience creating games and art, and talking about what it means to him. It isn’t too long, but it is a very nice read.

Not bad, but full price is too expensive. Get it when discounted.
The game is procedurally generated, but the in the end you will always cycle the same 4 different environments + the room, more variation would be better or at least making the order in which the levels appear more random.
Another simple feature that I would like to see implemented is an auto-walking key, like what you have in Meadow: you press F and the character just walk by itself, freeing you of the need to keep pushing the W button, which is a bit annoying.

Aritana and the Twin Masks
“They are not ready…”
Are you? Prove your value in Aritana and the Twin Masks. An adventure based on Brazilian mythology and culture that will carry you deeper into the forest’s mysteries.
This second Aritana’s adventure extends gameplay possibilities, bringing a bow and arrow gameplay, 3D movement, vast sceneries in open landscapes and powers that help the player solve several puzzles. Explore a colossal temple, find artefacts that can be mixed in many special potions, and prepare yourself to save the Tree of life.
Also, you can further explore this magical universe with comics that shows more about the temple’s events. Unmask all the mysteries and follow Aritana on his journey to save the Tree of life, discovering ghosts from his past.

In the vast region of Tiba, a dense and very old forest shelters the city of Tecnopia, home of a technology created to coexist in symbiosis with nature, and of people that are not unanimous when it comes to preserving this coexistence. Amid the growing tension, Ventree, a powerful corporation with global prestige, entered the region to explore the Ancestral Energy, a long forgotten natural resource, and retrieve a device that vanished from their head office at any cost. Meanwhile, a young Tori kept on with the common life he always had – until finding this device, having it accidentally integrated into his body and becoming the target of a conflict much greater than he could imagine.

Great concept, better execution. + for both sound and visual design, options to customise both would make it even better, however i cant find a negative, hope to see more!

Matter
Matter is an awesome, but also very short virtual trip.
You play in first-person view and jump through dynamically forming levels that give an organic and psychedelic feeling. The sound and music seems to react to your movement as well. Where are you? Who are you? Looks like you are in some kind of organism. Or is it space? Who cares, it’s trippy as hell!
There are some slower parts where you run around little planets and search for artifacts, but the main part is “just” running and jumping. You can reverse time a bit if you miss a jump. Gravity seems to be all over the place and changes, so some of the jumps can be a little tricky, but if you just push on, you will be able to get into a flow state and enjoy the game to its fullest.

Ok, I know well the devs, but they didn’t ask me to recommend the game. Take it as it is, but I will try to be as objective as I can.
I just finished the game. What I could say is that it was a delightful dreamlike trip, with very special attention to the ears and feeling of gravity. It’s the kind of game you can’t forget after playing to it. It makes bubbles in the stomach.
Except for the jump, which is sometimes a little bit harsh for me (no air control, but it doesn’t block me), I did not have much frustrations.

ESPRESSO REVIEW
Not a meditative, relaxing game as I assumed, but more a good reflex dodge em up with great rotational labyrinths to escape from. The remaining impression of rotating, expanding and collapsing levels will stick with you after you are done.
PROS
Intricate mazes to figure out
Monochromatic layout is a gorgeous modern art experience
Not as easy as you would expect
Music is a very nice low key electronic soundtrack that is well composed

Follow me, says the game with a chime.
A week ago, I received an email from Expand developer Chris Johnson inviting me to play the game ahead of release. Since it was a game I was already interested in, I jumped at the opportunity.
Chris describes the game as a “meditative exploration through shifting circular labyrinths”. It is a game that I find hard to frame my thoughts on - Chris' words are certainly accurate, but the game has another quality to it that’s a little more difficult to define.
