One Pixel TWB

One Pixel TWB

2D platform game with minimalist graphics in Pixel art, your goal is to climb the castle while defeating various bosses that try to prevent your passage. With each floor you pass the game will present you with increasingly difficult bosses to defeat, add this to dialogs that portray the history of this universe and an extremely difficult difficulty for the vast majority of people.

To defeat these bosses you have the following abilities:

  • Create Platforms Underneath You.

  • Shoot.

  • Dash.

  • Jump and Duck

  • 2d Movement.

The graphics of the game has a focus mostly on the colors black, white, grayscale and red, in some parts of the game other colors may appear but are almost null.

During the game you follow the point of view of the White Pixel who is having his city attacked, you as a good emperor must stop the enemy and if you have a thirst for knowledge can try to find out what caused all this chaos.

One Pixel The War Begins is our second game presenting this very interesting universe of Pixels, unlike its older brother this game has a much wider variety of Phases, mechanics, Enhancements, Characters and more.

Also the soundtrack of the game is absolutely original of us.

Cons:

  • no in-game pause

  • no in-game ending the game unless you windows key out

  • no saving the game

  • level design

  • lackluster enemy sounds

  • some items can’t be picked up because they are placed at an odd angle

  • stairs and latter don’t seem to work

  • weird “blackouts” when you pick stuff up

  • enemies seem to have problems getting through doors

  • reached the end of a level enemies literally spawned in from out of nowhere right in front of me, didn’t get to kill ‘em because the game decided to end the level although I hadn’t entered the boat yet…

Abandonware garbage.

The dev abandoned it, and so should you.

It feels like whoever made this didn’t bother to play their own game.

Levels don’t even spawn enough ammo for you to kill every enemy. Level design is terrible. Asset store models are carelessly inserted into empty and lifeless locations. I have to assume every aspect of the game was brought from the assets store, since there is no visual coherence between locations and monsters. Random enemies with zero context spawn in and all you can do is shoot them with whatever weapon you have, I don’t think weakpoints exist in this game. There is zero strategy involved here. Since there is only like two weapons and not enough ammo, the combat is tedious.

Veiled Basilisk

Veiled Basilisk

I played the game for more than an hour. Overall the game is interesting to play. If you can develop the full version with the features you mentioned, it’s going to be a killer. Melee should have been there in this build as an alternate option of offence. But still it’s ok as I managed to use bullets efficiently and run away to objectives. Routes are tricky to find yet I liked that too. Also I agree with IZER above for every point mentioned. Overall I recommend this game to try on and is worth your money.

Edit: Had a significantly longer update typed out, but it did not save for some reason. So here’s the short version:

The melee option appears to be only an animation that does no damage and grenades also seem to do no damage. Still no in-game option to remap keys or change sound or mouse settings. ADS/crosshair misalignment has been fixed, but the weapon model still blocks too much of the screen, including making it difficult to see inside the actual sights.

I had a much easier time evading many enemies, so running speed might have been increased.

I can finally begin my training to kill trump! (only joke)

Amazing game 10/10

Worth spending 1.6 euros on!

This is actually one of the most fun and original games i have played in a long time, big respect to the dev.

Real player with 24.5 hrs in game

I recommend it, but just be warned; there is NO BIG BIDEN. This is a major disappointment. There is no actual final boss, only small Bidens. This makes the last level quite anticlimactic and is disappointing. However, the first three levels had an ingenious story line and plot, and the progression was absolutely awesome. Would recommend.

TL;DR - 3/4 Good, 1/4 Bad
