A Knight Never Yields

A Knight Never Yields

Pretty nice game for a one man studio. Has inovative gameplay mechanic, to describe it without spoiling too much, I only say that you must feel the rythm :)

I already finished the game, but its catchy. Looking forward to return and try to finish all trials on single try.

cool design. Interesting to play. Mechanics not hard to remember. Good game to kill some time just to have fun. I love this types of game where your actions bind to game’s music. Some minuses: 1. Sad doesn’t support gamepad(or i can’t find where to enable it). 2. Not many challenges. I want more, much more) 3. Dialog window small, and white text to hard to read. Actualy that’s all for now. Anyway it was fun to play and i don’t regret for spending money. GJ!

Good for a quick laugh, maybe a giggle, and if it were a $1 or so game i’d say its alright but not for the $8 price range. You have very little control over your actual dude so you just flail your character around and hope to hit your opponent. Chances are that you’ll play it for maybe half an hour and be bored of it.

I thought i’d give it a go because its hard to find a decent fighting/mma game on steam, i knew it was physics rag-doll based but i wasn’t expecting it to be just random flailing with little to no control over your character.

Pencil Fantastic

Pencil Fantastic

Pencil Fantastic is the perfect amalgamation of unbridled creativity and structured imagination. Akin to incessant hammer-strikes against red-hot steel, the developers bellow the flames of improvement day in and day out, heating their homes with strained GPU’s (and the drive of their passion) as they forge the new standard of cerebral application. The force behind the single line drawing mechanic rides in parallel to the vision of this wonderful, evolving paragon; forward unto dawn upon a river of endless possibility. You will hear the clarion call of inspiration as Mr. Fantastic glides across the screen (whilst subverting his own desires) to channel your pure emotion into a work of art. How you answer that call will determine any & all fortune within this realm of innovation.

This game is more like music creation software. It is not meant to be a game apparently and should not be on the Steam platform. Don’t bother

Update - review changed to positive after developers response.

–————————————————————————

Previous review below:

A little nice game so far, for those who understand aircraft behavior (at least on a vertical plane). A little conversation with the developer convinced me they are striving for a good detailed sim - just without the yaw (and side winds on rwy and vectoring before that of course - we are talking 2d here). Gave me a good impression and I do have a good feeling about this (hehe).

This game’s really good, just waiting for more words. It can get kind of rough with some of the more out there words, but everyone I’ve met have been really great to play with. Looking forward to seeing this blow up on Twitch.

Taught the Dev what the word Simp was. Never laughed so hard in my life. I absolutely love the game creators humour,

It is a very good party game, good for joining and trolling around in! Strongly recommend giving this game a shot, especially for the price it is a steal!

All Our Asias

All Our Asias

The game was quite surreal. I have gained some insight within the Asian community and addresses true feelings and doubts toward those who are mixed in race from Asia to America. Floating around the atmosphere felt interesting and intriguing, with an old PlayStation One style graphic to help set off the oddity. It’s a free too, so id day give it a try. There are a few things that could make the experience better but doesn’t set off the mood so I’d give it a 7/10.

The graphics are obviously supposed to be unintelligible but in a way gives the player a sense of what it’s supposed to be, as what PSX style is supposed to be. The environment is great, from simplistic looking geometry to image based texture. There are some places that are un-textured, but doesn’t ruin the experience and not that obvious to others who aren’t familiar with engines. I like the empty space, but I would like a bit more on the environment.

Aside from the price, I was intrigued by the title and the visuals. What would this free PS1-style title about multiple Asias be about?

Truth is, after reaching the end I’m still not entirely sure.

Don’t get me wrong, there is a premise and it’s a good one, but I’m not sure I get all the plot in the middle. I found this didn’t matter though as the script was a pleasure to read; it was good quality prose and there was just about the right amount of it.

I wouldn’t say the visuals suit, but I think in “All Our Asias”, the visuals aren’t that important. This is a game where the ethereal whistle of the soundtrack can be recalled many hours later and, I don’t the have the words for it, but the mood and tempo of the game is both melodic and melancholic at the same time.

Lucifer Within Us

Lucifer Within Us

Normally I operate a £1/hr to determine if a game is worth playing, and I’ll admit that I was worried about “Lucifer Within Us” when many were seeing short play times in the demo. However, I had enjoyed the demo so much that I gave it a chance knowing that it was very doubtful the game would be very long.

Having completely finished the game with all achievements, I feel the game was worth it.

The story is very well written and pulls you in with the voice acting adding that touch of atmosphere to convey the character emotions perfectly, particularly during confessions. My personal favourite was the second investigation where, despite having worked out what was going on, I was still shocked by the outcome and confession. The little touches with the voice acting delivery and graphic choices were key to creating that atmosphere. Well done!

I’ll start with the good things. This game has an interesting style and setting. The color pallet doesn’t hurt the eye and the graphics are passable if you don’t scroll too close. A strange mix of high-tech and theology would make an interesting setting for a bigger game. The mysteries themselves are pretty good and may take some time to solve on the first playthrough.

But the problem is, you will only play it once. Now, to the bad stuff.

1. The game doesn’t allow you to lose. You can’t accuse the wrong person, you can’t frustrate the suspects to the point of angry unresponsiveness. In fact, you are encouraged to do so, based on achievements. The absence of failure allows you to just play dumb and spam every possible combination of clues and statements until it clicks, making the whole detective part meaningless. Even when performing the exorcism, you are safe. Wrong daemon name? Well, just try another one!
