Disillusion

Disillusion

pretty cool game, especially cause 2 of my favorite games are earthbound and LSD dream emulator

One thing I can say is please fix the issue with the tracks looping when you can. it’s very noticeable on the shorter, early tracks or tracks that are short by nature, like cutscene tracks or the title track. When it loops, its really noticeable and choppy and kind of irritating. I like almost everything else about the game though. I hope you will add a lot more and finish it someday.

EDIT: Also, I got softlocked. Its after the floor where the green faced “ryan” guy chases you, i fought ebikaron and the purple room i was poisened for a few floors, idk why if it was the demon sticker or what, but pls make it obvious how to get rid of poison. Because now I’m softlocked in the room(s) where I have 1 HP and its a forced Brock Lee fight where he says “cement? no thats concrete baby!” I went through the door to the dojo but theres nothing there besides crows, a ryan who just talks about lsd, and then the door back. you can walk through the sprite to the door back and see some sprites from sun tzu eastern mind but they dont work when you press space on them

a funny yet dissociation-inducing journey of quirky internet humor, horrifying eye imagery laced with morse code, droning tunes chopped with decades-old vocal samples, and bizarre visuals that shine like old internet and LSD dream emulator. followed by one of the nine muses, climb your way up a tower where each floor becomes more deconstructed than the last.

the story is vague, something something nirvana, something something samsara. the importance and potential philosophy of it can become lost in the witty comments about the bone zone and the vague images of a man-fish wearing a “women want me fish fear me” hat. but it’s supposed to be bizarre. you’re climbing, because everyone climbs the tower.

It’s a solid game on it’s own right, but gets a lot more meat around it’s bones through the achievements.

An interesting combo of snake game and metroidvania, with a desolate, Jumper Redux-esque atmosphere.

Black Ido

Added new game mechanics with gravity and physics, no rotation. This is a good independent

game in a gloomy atmospheric world.

Creating a sequel to a good game is no simple task. But somehow, Dnovel did it. They

improved The Square Key every conceiveable way.

If you liked TSK, you’ll LOVE Black Ido.

Was rather enjoying this, but then it crashed twice in the space of 15 minutes an didn’t save my progress either time, necessitating a restart.

This is the best archery game for Virtual Reality ever made. It’s so obvious. Don’t bother with Quiver, or The Lab, or what’s the main one? Holopoint. Don’t bother. Lantern Light Vr with it’s spot on aesthetic and fantastical back story will have you hooked from the get go. I know what you’re thinking. “byteframe, you just played this for 45 seconds and are giving it a positive review because it was given to you for free via the curator program.” Go to hell, you lie! I love this game!

! I believe on of the characters might be a trickster, be careful. https://youtu.be/XA2jJjKN1CY

Das Geisterschiff / The Ghost Ship

Das Geisterschiff / The Ghost Ship

Short version: You can die in the tutorial. Hardcore! 10/10!!!

Long version: This game is the long lost cousin of King’s Field, if it was a sci-fi title made for the Virtual Boy. As such, those looking for shiny graphics and twitchy gameplay should stay away: the game’s unique art style looks blocky (although in exchange it works with a toaster, if you can read this you can play it), it’s a turn-based dungeon-crawled that demands patience to be played.

The sound effects are okay, nothing special in my opinion, but they do their job. The music though, it’s something else: It perfectly conveys the nightmarish, claustrophobic survival horror scenario that the author wanted to convey.

Laser-focused, ultra-minimalistic dungeon crawler. Think id’s mid-to-late 00s mobile RPGs (Orcs & Elves, Doom RPG, Wolfenstein RPG) their slim frame further stripped down of tissue so that the mere bone of combat, resource management and exploration remains. There are no crutches here, nothing placed at one’s disposal is superfluous or optional - one really must master what mechanics there are. Tutorial mustn’t be skipped.

The presentation is just as spartan yet equally put to just the desired use, minimal wireframe visuals supported by excellent soundtrack conveying this desolate, claustrophobic feeling.

Der Geisterturm / The Ghost Tower

Der Geisterturm / The Ghost Tower

Der Geisterturm is a game i could only describe as “hostile”.

It’s a grid-based, first person dungeon crawler not unlike say, Warhammer 40k’s Space Hulk, except you’re piloting a mecha - and i don’t mean the “protagonist” kinda mecha. You’re essentially stomping around in the kinda grunt suit that gets oneshot by the Gundam 5 seconds into a battle setpiece. You know, a Zaku I basically.

Now, while nothing in the game will actually oneshot you, what this means is that combat is often going to be an extremely risky endeavor, as to even have the slightest chance of survival you’re going to have to learn to:

The spin-off sequel to the mecha dungeon crawler Das Geistersciff. Der Geisterturm improves on every aspect of the original title. Like the original game, an emphasis is placed on moving with purpose instead of slowly farming experience for levels. The player must manage limited resources such as ammo and the overall durability of your Robotic Combat Suit through the use of repair stations scattered around the tower. The player also has to worry about the health of the suit’s pilot as durability decreases, putting a heavier emphasis on avoiding enemies and damage whenever possible.

The Mirum

The Mirum

It’s a good game and one of the hardest I’ve ever played. I definitely recommend this game. I assure you this game is bug free (at least at the time this review was written). So if you are stuck here and there, Just look better or try another method.

Real player with 7.0 hrs in game

I do not remember how I encountered this game but I liked it a lot. In Mirum, you play as a human (I guess) trapped in the eponymous miniature world along with other people. It is not clear how or why you ended up there but one thing is clear: you cannot die. In fact, every time you are killed, you respawn in the main city of MIrum. I found it clever that the game takes a common videogame concept and turns it into an existential question. Mirum’s citizens are divided into two camps, the pro-immortality Priests, who want to stay in Mirum and worship its creator, and the anti-immortality Seekers, who want to escape and live a mortal life. There is more background on the world scattered around the game’s levels, which is neither presented perfectly nor I understood it fully, but I greatly appreciated the creator’s effort to provide it, as well as his obvious zeal for the story.
