I’m trying to determine the best way to describe Space Hole 2020. Not necessarily a game, exactly. At least not in the way the equally amazing Space Hole 2016 and Space Hole 2018 were (in one opinion.) More the culmination of the reversal of everything the YEAR 2020 has turned out to be. It’s as if all the misery, pain and loss of Year 2020 was thrown into the air, but instead of falling, everything that made Year 2020 so awful converted into the various objects of their opposing beauty and wonder, music, color and art for gamers to explore and enjoy as Space Hole 2020. What you’ll quickly discover is that Space Hole 2020 is almost equally game and art installation (though not in a pretentious, scary or off-putting way,) And the music is a world of its own, and you likely find yourself as much experiencing the music as listening to it. Simply beyond description (which, I suppose, is a reasonably good description for the game in general, if “indescribable” can technically be used as a description.)

All Our Asias

All Our Asias

The game was quite surreal. I have gained some insight within the Asian community and addresses true feelings and doubts toward those who are mixed in race from Asia to America. Floating around the atmosphere felt interesting and intriguing, with an old PlayStation One style graphic to help set off the oddity. It’s a free too, so id day give it a try. There are a few things that could make the experience better but doesn’t set off the mood so I’d give it a 7/10.

The graphics are obviously supposed to be unintelligible but in a way gives the player a sense of what it’s supposed to be, as what PSX style is supposed to be. The environment is great, from simplistic looking geometry to image based texture. There are some places that are un-textured, but doesn’t ruin the experience and not that obvious to others who aren’t familiar with engines. I like the empty space, but I would like a bit more on the environment.

Aside from the price, I was intrigued by the title and the visuals. What would this free PS1-style title about multiple Asias be about?

Truth is, after reaching the end I’m still not entirely sure.

Don’t get me wrong, there is a premise and it’s a good one, but I’m not sure I get all the plot in the middle. I found this didn’t matter though as the script was a pleasure to read; it was good quality prose and there was just about the right amount of it.

I wouldn’t say the visuals suit, but I think in “All Our Asias”, the visuals aren’t that important. This is a game where the ethereal whistle of the soundtrack can be recalled many hours later and, I don’t the have the words for it, but the mood and tempo of the game is both melodic and melancholic at the same time.

I bought this game for $2.49 USD during the Steam Lunar New Year Sale 2019. I thought I was getting a good deal for a hidden indie gem in VR. It looked very cool in the store page video and screenshots to me … a relaxing platformer with cool visual aesthetics.

Unfortunately, the game is a buggy mess. This game has one of the most horrible UIs that I have ever dealt with in VR. It’s difficult to start the game. If you look at the Steam Discussion area for this game, you will see a post about the game not starting. Well, that’s because the UI is so horrible that it’s very easy to not see how to start the game. It will test your eye sight to start this game because you will have to find the vanishing red reticle to start this game.

Fun game with a somewhat difficult learning curve. Lots of levels to improve your skills on and once you’ve gotten used to the controls, going for best times on individual levels is really fun too, especially when there is more competition.

Probably would be pretty fun to speedrun, I imagine it would be similar to meatboy, with lots of deaths and lots of hype!

Really fun game! Looks easy at the start, but the difficulty ramp is just right, and getting all stars in each level is a fun challenge. It might not have mind blowing graphics but it does have some “Styyyyyyle” which makes up for it.

The Line is a tricky puzzle game with a Snake-like twist. I ran into a few small bugs that I think will be patched soon, but otherwise the game is a rather fun and unique concept. 6/10

“Sometimes words alone can’t paint the whole picture.”

A VR game about depression.

Change the dim world, fill it with light.

Each inky struggle improves your sight.

In real life as in game the isolation is absolute, yet you are never alone in your suffering and struggle, so many suffered before you with you and long after you are gone. A game, a virtual symbolic space for introspection and calm confrontation with the topic depression. No instrumentalizing of depression for a story. Depression is the story. with its duality, undramatic yet all consuming, Isolating and yet indirectly unifying aspects. if you need a place to confront yourself with the topic depression, for your own sake or others you love, this is our effort to create it.
