Lusitania

Lusitania

I absolutely love this game. I’d recommend making the list smaller when it is at it’s biggest. Her largest list was 25 degrees to starboard with her smallest list being 6 degrees. If it is gonna be that big then don’t make her settle up that high at first, it makes it look unrealistic. Make the lifeboats launch later as that was too soon. Lastly, add a head trim to it. Nevertheless I do recommend this game. TBH, for now I could care less about the mistakes now since as it was released an hour ago as of writing this review.

This is a 10 minute long, purely cinematic experience. It’s running on the Unreal Engine. Looks & runs good, even on my 1060 GTX. If you like X-files and believe the truth is out there, then this is for you. If you believe you have been intimately probed by aliens in the past, then this may be too much for you and trigger PTSD.

I have a video of my full playthrough of this game on YouTube. However, I don’t recommend seeing it so I won’t link to it. Just experience it for yourself. And no, the smoking man isn’t in this one.

If $5 is a huge deal…then its not worth it for you. If you like having a wide variety of little experiences and $5 is the equivalent of an espresso, then its worth a try. Had one decent scare but mostly its a bit odd. Still, ill keep it installed as a quick showcase for friends or family that dont have VR and want to quickly try a few different things. Plus i dont want to discourage further development of these types of things …

EDIT: I played a trick on my 5 year old who has loved VR so far. He either plays Angry Birds/Spiderman/Flying Hero games, drivers, Roller Coasters or short Videos. I told him this was a new video… Hes not stupid. He was getting a creepy vibe and asking if it was going to be scary. I lied. And got a heck of a good laugh at his inevitable scream :)

Drop it down to a dollar, bro. At $1.99 it does not compare well to The Visitor at the same price, nor TNTCD at half that. I liked floating in the middle of the large bed, it was nice to have my whole play space be that, but everything does kind of happen at distance, if you can even see it. First generation VR games can only be so dark, y’all. It’s the optics, or the pixel count, hell I don’t know. She was fairly aliased as well. I find it strange that the store page is showcasing parts of the level that you never see, and cannot move to. I wouldn’t bother with adding any more updates, it can more or less stand on its own, but again, it’s not worth $2.

! Also, part of me thinks the Demonic Guest was just a hungry beast, who smelled the remnants of Dinner’s Dirty Dishes rotting in the sink, and (like a bear or wolf) just followed the scent. Are bears from hell? No, that would malign bears. Are there bears in hell? Probably. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRghitjCUf8

Scared me a few times, runs for around 5 minutes but its enough to put you on edge, hopefully the dev continues to add stuff to this because it looks like a solid project.

The payoff at the end of the ride is well worth the journey and the $2 spent.

This game is really puzzling. The only thing the player can do in the game is to quietly watch the light from the outside of the elevator door swaying and enjoy the fear of the claustrophobic space.

Let’s not say that the game has great requirements for space. If the space is small, the player can’t reach the only elevator button that can be touched in the game. Even if the button is reached and pressed, nothing will happen.

All in all, this game is just to let players feel the claustrophobic fear, no other gameplay, more boring.

Wilhelm Gustloff’s Death

Wilhelm Gustloff’s Death

I remember when I learned about this ship once. It has a very strange and sad story looking into the vessel. Despite that it is the worst maritime disaster in human history, when I saw it come out tonight, I knew I had to give it a green light. The ship model looks good.

Very good game. The only thing that’s missing for me is entering the bridge. I have played all your games (Titanic, Britannic and Lusitania) and I had lots of fun with this. The ship model is very well done, and when I´m playing this I feel like I were on the ship when it was sinking. Hope that there will come more games with sinking ships. Good job :) (sorry for bad english, I’m from Germany)

edit: Maybe I would like a free camera mod without sinking on daylight for exploring the ship outside :D

NYC Bungee

With all my strong fear of heights – such a great game! Not only the bungee, but the climbing is one of the best I ever did in VR and the balloon is pretty cool (I doubt I will ever do it in real life, so thank you VR!).

Can’t want to have my family try it as well

I think this game could be better than Richie plank experience, but it need few imporvments:

  • Then you press button with your keyboard it should not be teleported to the scene, but to press the elevator button as it is in richie plank;

  • Bungee jumping feel enormous motion sickness. I am quite strong for moving in VR and adapted for motion sickness, but here is quite strong feeling

-Graphich could be more polished with more details.

Banyu Lintar Angin - Little Storm -

Banyu Lintar Angin - Little Storm -

It was hard for me to write a review about this not even 3 minute lasting “game”.

This because, Banyu Lintar Angin is not really a game, it’s not a visual novel either, it’s actually a slide show of hand drawn illustrations.

It’s showing the lives of 3 siblings that are living together in Indonesia.

The hand drawn illustrations are absolutely stunning, adorable and cute!

The music is really catchy and fitting too.

But in all honesty, I don’t see why this has to be on steam…

I was expecting so much more than just a slide show of drawings.

Britannic: Patroness of the Mediterranean

Britannic: Patroness of the Mediterranean

Overall I say the game is rather good and is worth the time. Graphics are nice, and experiencing the sinking is mostly pleasant.

Though there are some quality of life changes that I’d only hope are implemented in future updates. For example, the narrator Robin has a feature to toggle his dialogue. With all interiors that you can go through requiring you to return to the main menu, you need to toggle Robin every single time if you want to hear him. A way to save the settings for him and keep them as selected would be beneficial. Some text had some serious overlapping issues, and there’s some grammatical errors dotted around, and that could use another editor’s pass.

Real player with 21.5 hrs in game

I recommend this game but with a few caveats. I believe it’s worth noting that I don’t have VR at all.

I’m a huge Britannic nerd. I love the story of her construction, career, and her sinking. This game was a must buy for me so I was thrilled to pick it up and explore the ship. The thrill is still here for me months later and I know I’m going to just walk around even more in the future.

Positives

  • Exterior exploration is spectacular. The numberous information points have helped me learn new things about the ship and the overall visuals are very pleasing. Both the RMS and HMHS models of the ship look stunning. During the sinking, things get a bit more interesting, especially when there’s another deck above which really gives a feeling of being trapped. That said, I mainly stay in the bridge.

Singularity

Singularity

I certainly liked this experience. It’s a walking simulator thing in the night in a cool particle foreset with pensive ambient music. The music builds up and I like it. I like the particle trees too and all that made out of dots. I just don’t understand the point of it, maybe I should have been thinking more about all the objects I found in the woods.

! Something about AI or the future, hell I don’t know. https://youtu.be/yToVvvWXRBc

Singularity is a free VR experience about Virtual Reality Art piece, exploring the Law of accelerating returns and the development of A.I. It worked on my HTC Vive, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. You walk down a path and collect data object as you find them. Teleport is the VR movement mode and you use gaze to collect the objects. Take around 15 minutes to finish.

Try this short walking experience through the data forest.
