Wellp… I’m in two minds about this game.
On the one hand, there are pluses, which are few in number and which are rather subjective, but still:
-
lovely color spectrum that creats peculiar mood;
-
interesting ideas and details, especially these creepy snowmen.
On the other side, there is the whole Mount Everest of minuses. Bugs driving me crazy (red coins will appear in my wortst nightmares); a lot of pointless interactive subjects which don’t hold any secrets or don’t have any value for the plot (why? are they for distraction?); knowing absolutely nothing about the protagonist, who is he or she, what happend to him/her, why is the whole village abandoned, where do these creepy snowmen come from, what do they want, ARE WE EVEN ALIVE????? Ugh, so many questions, so little answers.

VR: Vacate the Room (Virtual Reality Escape)
For those of you who are interested in room escape experiences, I recommend VR: Vacate the Room. While the initial experience may seem a bit easy or short for the experienced player, it is very well done. Overall physics of the game are very cool & certainly add to the overall game play. There are a few minor flaws. Objects are sometimes difficult to pick-up off the floor. While there is an in-game work around, it sometimes can get frustrating and decreases the overall immersion. Also while the room has a cool atmosphere, the fact it is so dark makes it a bit difficult in VR if you can’t figure out what to do next. You can “replay” the room with different and considerably more difficult puzzles once you escape the initial room. This adds some replay value to a game which is relatively inexpensive. I hope to see some more Vacate Rooms from this developer as the experience translates very well on VR.

Absolutely love this game. It’s a relatively short experience ( 1 hour). But it’s priced appropriately. This game would serve as a good introduction to the Escape Room genre. The room-scale design is great. No need to teleport (even though it’s not a con). The puzzles are simple enough to be enjoyable. There’s no leap of logic here. The in-game clues are spot on. (Spoiler Alert: the only doen side I could see is that shorter players may be at a disadvantage. This is something the dev should consider)

A-Escape VR
This will be the first review I write for a game I now own, but whose demo is the only experience I have of the game (actually, that’s a lie). I could not complete the demo because the puzzles were too hard, and I accidentally unplugged my HDMI cable during the video! Oh no! I’m a VR escape room aficionado, though, so will try to ‘wing’ it. The demo room is featured in the screenshots. It was alright. Everything in that level was a bit dark/gray and the overall graphical presentation is a bit muted. The other room you see in the screenshots appears nice and cozy, so overall, everything looks fine. Considering the price and likelihood on bundles and sales, this game is a positive entry in the genre. I like the promotion and work put into the lock picking systems, although I didn’t understand how to do one of them.
! When I was a youth, I hacked the password mother put on the computer. Her hands were wet you see, and I was able to figure it out! It was ‘Lock’. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzlspuZ_gFg

Been wanting to play this for a while and picked it up after it got Oculus support. I went in with low expectations, and by the time I finished it I was pretty happy with it. The puzzles have a lot of depth and make you feel accomplished when you figure them out. I don’t see what everyone’s complaining about though, the game works perfectly fine. Sure it’s not the most polished game and the controls take a little getting used to but it at least tried to do something innovative and unique.

Escape from Kyoto House
Amazing game! Really had fun my friend whilst playing it! Includes a variety of puzzles ranging from the periodic table to country flags (not as hard as you think, I suck at chemistry and still managed it lol!) Overall incredible chill fun to play game for a considerable price. Check it out! I also played their other Escape game (Escape from Skull Dungeon) Which was as fun.
Really great game, wish they would release more puzzle games since they only have 2 which I both played and finished, haha!

If you enjoyed Myst and Quern, then you should enjoy this game. The puzzles are fun. The graphics are very good, of course. I’ve played it twice and enjoyed both times.

Oneiros
Oneiros is an absolutely fantastic experience that falls on blind eyes: It’s realistic yet mysterious approach to world building, the bright color palette, ways in which the story progresses, transitions through-out the journey, comedic moments, strategic methods regarding puzzles, and enjoyability from beginning to end. All of it together paints a journey…of a man, created by Coal Valley Games.
This new endeavor for the creator’s developmental journey, was a way for the developer to branch out. After years of experience as a game developer, he always felt the need to make a story-driven game, so in 2018, he started production. After two years of hard work, on March 27th, 2020, Oneiros was public for the world to see…or…not…see…

Oneiros
First Impressions🤔
After completing the game I am glad I stuck with it, and enjoyed most of my time playing Oneiros.
My mind changed from positive to negative a few times mainly due to an infuriating psychedelic maze and an awkward platform level. They were almost enough for me to quit the game completely.

PAGAN PEAK VR
As far as Escape the Room games go, this is one of my favorites; very well done, great atmosphere, a decent story, two different endings and logical puzzles, not too hard but not too easy either.
It took me two hours to finish it. For someone very experienced in this type of game it could be much shorter, about one hour but it’s totally worth it.
One thing that surprised me is that you don’t necessarily need to solve all the riddles to finish the game. I left a box unopened in the first room and I could still make it til the end.

About
If you are a fan of SAW the movie, you will likely enjoy the premise of this game. Pagan Peak VR is an escape room experience set in a dark atmosphere where your ability to survive is dependant on your riddle solving skills.
-
Gameplay
The game is fairly optimized, at least for Oculus Quest 2. It allows free roam, which is always a plus in VR for most games. The interaction with the environment feels smooth without noticeable bugs. The only “bug” i experienced was getting stuck on a table or a box where i had to physically move my body to get unstuck, but fairly minor issue.

Paranormal Detective: Escape from the 80’s
Nice puzzle game. If you’ve played other escape room type games, you’ll like this. Lots of 80’s references and humor throughout. I had to refer to a walk through twice: once for something I should have picked up on but the other was something I may have eventually stumbled upon what they were expecting you to do (tip: just play with everything extensively!)
Looking forward to the 90’s sequel, which is already waiting in my wish list.

This game is totally RADICAL DUDE! Just played through and I loved it. Great escape room elements with so much 80s. Such cheesy acting and there is even a rap to dance to. Don’t want to give away too much. Took me about 2 hours to complete. I did search pretty thoroughly for Easter eggs and such.
The game nailed what is wrong with so many escape games.
-
It has a great, fun story! This is lacking in so many.
-
Everything is polished and works well! (surprisingly hard to find)
-
A great length! I have played waaaay too many 15 to 20 minute experiences. This took me well over an hour to explore, complete the puzzles, and complete the end.

VR2: Vacate 2 Rooms (Virtual Reality Escape)
a nice short vr escape room game. it is an upgrade to the first one. it is very enjoyable and not too complicated.
you do not need to play the first one for the story, though i do recommend it.
i have found the secret exit. i was not expecting to play the game again but i was very curious.
tip=
! absorb everything at the end :)
please do not spoil it for anyone. i recorded the game and put it on youtube but did not put the “secret” ending there to not spoil it for anyone.

This game was incredibly short, and I’m pretty sure the last puzzle is messed up a bit. I love escape rooms (real life ones) so I was excited for this in VR, but its was way too easy and rather boring compared to the real thing. If you can get it for $3 or MAYBE $5, it might be worth it for the 20-30 min of playtime, but I wish I would have saved the $10 i spent it on and did a real escape room instead.
Side note - the elevators made me a bit disoriented and nauseated, and I rarely get sick from motion sickness. So a tip if you do buy this: close your eyes when you’re on the elevator(s).
