Halo: The Master Chief Collection

Halo: The Master Chief Collection

I’ve played all the various Halos since ~2002, and have 3000+ hours on MCC. Despite all that, I can’t recommend it. Here’s why:

The Good

  • The ports of the games are reasonably solid. The games look great in 4k. Several longstanding H1 graphics bugs have been fixed. MCC is now the best-looking versions of any of the legacy Halos.

  • There is online co-op for all games - something that H1 & H2C historically lacked. However, H2 co-op can be very buggy. The others work well.

  • The achievements are varied, mostly fun, with some good challenging achievements also.

Worth A Buy. HOWEVER…

This is one of the best value purchases you would ever find. MCC is a steal even with no discount.

For 40$ you get 5 masterpieces… and Halo 4.

…MCC is packed with content. So if you’re wondering if it’s worth a buy, the answer is a resounding yes.

That said, as per 343i’s MO, this release has many hiccups that hold it back from being definitively great.

These issues are inconsequential to some, but I’ll list some of them and why I think they matter.

I was dreaming of the entire Halo franchise coming to PC ever since I played CE. Till finally MCC’s PC port was announced in 2019.

Rise of Nations: Extended Edition

Rise of Nations: Extended Edition

I am nominating Rise of Nations – Extended Edition {RoN-EE} for the 2020 “Labor of Love” award.

RoN-EE is the 2014 update of the “old” RTS from 2003,

when it won several GOTY awards for Big HUGE Games.

Despite its age, RoN has held up well, especially when I am in the mood for a quick Strategic War. A full-scale 1 v 3-or-4 game typically will run 60 minutes {game-time} or less.

Using ** pause /pause **can effectively make RoN-EE a TBS.

Rise of Nations: Extended Edition

The game from my childhood and the only strategy that I love to play even now. This is a remastered version of the game from 2003 and one of the most popular strategic games. Extended Edition contains the full contents with the addition of Thrones and Patriots. Rise of Nations offers a lot of nice campaign where our goal is to lead our nation to dominate the world. During the game you have to take care not to be destroyed by other nations but also develop a number of aspects such as economy, science, technology, diplomacy and military power. Each of these aspects will give you the opportunity to develop troops, build new buildings and to develop new opportunities in old buildings, but also move to a new era. With each progression of the game is changing the look and statistics buildings, military units and other things. Each nation has its own unique army as long as the nation still exists. In the game to expand, we have to use wood, stone, food, science, and oil at a later stage of the game, not forgetting that each of these resources can run out of. There is also an advanced diplomacy through which you can contain very beneficial agreement with other nation. In the game you can also play scenarios and multiplayer, but only with friends because no one plays. The game in terms of gameplay has hardly changed, improved graphics and added more resolution size. I like this production and do not regret a single hour spent at the game. Great soundtrack, an old but still nice graphics and a lot of things to do while playing the game. In my opinion this is the best strategy game I’ve ever played, many hours of fun for me. The game I am able to recommend, however, the game also has a bug that irritated me at first because I could not change my resolution because the game was crashing. However, it was manageable change in a text file.

Bean Battles

Bean Battles

My In depth review and analysis of Bean Battles.

How would i describe Bean Battles?

I would describe Bean Battles simply as a master piece, this game is far far ahead of its time and i foresee the game becoming more popular than fortnite.

What is Bean Battles?

Bean Battles is a game that follows the trends of the battle royale genre, an unoriginal idea executed in a way that is so unique, it beats out any up and coming battle royale game (such as Minecraft Hunger Games) It puts up to 16 people in a battle royale scenario but is far different from any current battle royale. In a typical battle royale game the aim of the game is to survive and be the last one standing, this often leads players to play incredibly passive and finish games with few kills. Bean Battles changes this by introducing a scoring system, each player is rewarded for their winning and becoming the last player standing but also rewards for kills, two kills is better than one round win, this makes the player play smart, but also agressively to beat thier opponents.

Once in a lifetime you’ll come across a game that truly captures the history and cultural distinctions of the modern world the way a person can subjectively perceive it through our guided field of perspective. I have to admit, I had my doubts when I first learned of the game. After all, Bean Battles? Will this game even be good? How ignorant was I to even have these thoughts. Little did I know I was about to indulge in what may have been the best 1 hour and 21 minutes of my life. The game started out strong. The maps enticed the audience with a captivating enigma. I was so taken aback from the next-generation animation that I almost didn’t even realize the underlying symbolism in the ongoing games. It wasn’t until my twenty sixth game where I finally got my bearings together and was able to focus on the gripping and labyrinthine stratagem. The underlying analogy for 19th century distopianism and the evangelical deviation of typical orthodoxy was enlightening to say the least. Just when I thought the game could not get any better, the increasing conflict before the climax began. I could not believe the complexity of game as the bean protagonist. My bean struggled with the everyday endeavors for a quintessential bean such as the consistent up- hill altercation of the fight against misogyny and the fiscal synergy of opposing interplanetary dynamisms. There I was, gripping to my chair as the conflict of the game began. I was so enticed by the game that I felt as if I was both practically and relatively apart of the game. This is a special kind of high that not even the strongest of drugs can give you. Was I part of the game? Am I inside the game right now? This game will leave you questioning existential nihilism and the objective skepticism of our perceived valuation of anthropological existence. At this point in the game, I was fully intoxicated by the avant-garde animated art style. That’s when the game finally aggrandized and I was completely stupefied. You could have lived a thousand years of isolation trying to predict the plot twist and you would never even scratch the surface of what actually transpires in the game. I was so bewildered that I actually had to stop playing the game so that my existential crisis didn’t dive too deep inside of myself. Even restarting the game was surreal. It’s almost as if life restarted with the game. I felt as though I had actually become a cinematic tangent quantum. The effects are still wearing off and I haven’t been able to play the game in several days.

Just Cause 2: Multiplayer Mod

Just Cause 2: Multiplayer Mod

Excuse me, I might not have enough experience in this game.. but I believe this is one of the best multiplayer out there, it doesn’t feel like there is something you really try to achieve, but something you rather enjoy with other people and friends.

I personally recommend to not join freeroam servers as the interest dies out pretty quick in such scenarios, I didn’t even play singeplayer.. I started first with the multiplayer by joining a server called “Real Life Server”, it was very complex and hard to understand as a newbie with a lot of custom game mechanics/server mechanics and server rules to get used to, but eventually when you really know everything by heart and you have experienced most of what it has to offer. You will probably have the same opinion.

Real player with 4183.4 hrs in game

Multiplayer enables much more possibility than single player, with lua coding server developers can create all sorts of things. From faction and administration systems, freeroam servers, a survival server, or a whole server dedicated to airplane simulation. Heck I know someone even made a whole Minecraft script for this! Either way depending what type of server you may be interested in there are still quite a few to choose from. Pretty much everyone knows that this game in general is dying out compared to what it used to be years ago with hundreds and thousands of players that used to passionately play. It is quieter these days, but some servers are still holding on a rather decent player population daily. Some may disagree, but you can meet some really nice people depending what server you settle in. In some cases one server for example has a whole community with it, and I can say I have met many nice people there and made some friends along the way. I had enough interest and dedication for this I decided to help and be a staff member of said server.

Watch_Dogs™

The storyline and complexity for a world first game foreshadowing our current future with technology.

This is a classic that you need to buy/play before going to Watch Dogs 2 so you understand it even more and characters in 2.

7/10 would play again.

This is the first Watch Dogs game that I have played. i bought this game on sale. And it was completely worth every penny. First of all, the story line is engaging and attractive. As it is with Ubisoft, you could do side missions as well (if you want to). I am writing this before playing the last act; and even after finishing this game, I would love to play this one again sometime in future. It was an overwhelming experience for me with Watch Dogs.

Adventure Time: Finn and Jake’s Epic Quest

Adventure Time: Finn and Jake’s Epic Quest

What time is it? It’s review time. I’ll get right down to it: this game sucks. At first you think it’s going to be fun playing an exploration game in the vein of Adventure Time, but it’s anything but fun. The “look for stuff and backtrack” design of gameplay is just tiresome by the 2nd world map, and by the 3rd, you just want it to be over and done with. The first Toe Jam & Earl game for the Sega Genesis had a similar feel and look, but was loads more fun.

Not very challenging since you can easily avoid most enemies. Also disappointing that you can only level up to level 15, and as a result, you don’t feel very powerful when defeating enemies.

This is a long review so if you just want a brief summary of why I recommend this game skip to Results and read from there.

NGD Studios does a great job bringing Adventure Time to the video game world with this epic hack ‘n slash adventure. Adventure Time: Finn and Jake’s Epic Quest is a fantastic game that mixes the great elements from RPGs with the awesome level schemes of ToeJam & Earl.

Story:

Adventure Time: Finn and Jake’s Epic Quest takes you out of the Land of Ooo and throws you into a new world that splits Ooo into floating islands. You play as Finn and Jake as they find themselves in a video game, which they use to explain all the weird elements. BMO has gone missing and it’s up to you to bring him back, but where is he? As you progress through the game you receive clues that help you find your lost comrade. In order to solve the mystery you must find artifacts scattered throughout the worlds, and eventually you will find the key.

Company of Heroes - Legacy Edition

Company of Heroes - Legacy Edition

Company of heroes is a masterful example of how Detail and polish on even the smallest of elements can marry Gameplay and theme to create something that truly deserves a place among the greatest games of all time.

Company of Heroes is a Real time strategy game with a WW2 era finish, and my god this finish is pristine. The game’s basic gameplay elements (both single player and multiplayer) are unique and offer true decision making and deliberation on your part to be successful; positioning of weapons teams and the will to only fight when you have something to gain is most important of all. Holding territory and maneuvering into a position of power is the game of war, not pointless bloodshed.

I remember having played this game for the first time when it was released. Being a fan of RTS games, especially the ones released by Relic, there was no way I was going to let this one go. It wouldn’t be an understatement to say I was literally hooked from the word go. No RTS before or since has been on the same level as this.

The single player campaign was just brilliant. If I had to point out a weakness, the only one I can come up with is that it’s a bit short. I just couldn’t have enough of it. But it’s not a perfect world. Relic’s competitors can maybe come up with a 20 mission campaign with mediocre results, but this one gave you 13 that were nothing short of brilliant. They were varied in terms of gameplay, offering multiple methods to achieve the objectives.

Freespace 2

Freespace 2

There are no words in the English language (or any other, for that matter), to describe how much I loved Freespace 2. Especially Free Space Open from the modding community of the Hard-Light Project, which is basically the definitive edition of freespace, enhanced to todays graphical standards and featuring hundreds of hours of very high quality user made content they could actually charge money for. Writing, voice acting etc. the modding community did a better job at those than many AAA titles within the industry.

Why I recommend this game

This game is what made me the gamer I am today. I bought it back when it first came out, I bought it on Good Old Games and now I’ve bought it on Steam. Why? I’ll tell you why - I believe it’s the greatest game ever made.

Why this game is awesome and deserves your attention;

  • The original graphics were fantastic back at release in 1999.

  • You won’t be using the original graphics when playing the game.

  • The story was - and still is - amazing. Far better than the usual tripe.

“On the 6th day of the investigation, officials found a diary that belongs to a former, presumably dead employee. We’ve been able to recieve latest entries of the diary and it’s truly shocking! The employee claims that the destruction was caused by a video game. We always knew video games are evil and now it looks like we’re having an actual evidence on our hands. The following text is taken straight from the diary:

“Day 724. Our system is ready to test Sky Battles. We’ve been reported that it might be the game we’re looking for - a Unity game that doesn’t suck. If they’re wrong, the outcome is unpredictable. We’ve been feeding our machine with bad games for far too long. We’d better take a break, but there’s not much time left, we’re doing it for 2 years already…
