All my hours are logged on the switch version (~150 hours), I love this game despite how gut punching it can be with difficulty and bugs (of which are mostly patched in this version). It makes up for all of it with its overflowing charm and dedication to fan service. My artwork is in the game too I guess! Underneath the bridge in Akasuka.

Emanate

Gameplay
Emanate is a single-level, vertical world filled with jumping patterns made up of various platforming mechanics. The most common of which are the orange/red bounce pads, purple wall-jump pads, and the fading platforms, that vanish from under your feet after a very short amount of time. Combining these simple mechanics urges you to keep moving forward, making for some incredibly challenging and intense platforming gameplay.

Moody, atmospheric environments: Starting from the bedrock of oblivion, up through deep ethereal forests and vast looming clouds, to huge other-worldly cathedrals.

Fast, exciting soundtrack: An ambient, break-techno tracklist that increases in speed and intensity as you progress through the game.

Emanation orbs: You have three chances per checkpoint to learn the patterns ahead of you. If you fall, expend an orb and you’ll recall back to the last checkpoint you activated. Any misstep after your orbs are gone and you’ll find yourself falling back down below.

Cubico
Cubico is a free game where you play as a ball with weird physics in a simplistic geometric world to overcome all sorts of typical platforming obstacles
My first impression after starting this was: “This feels like some kind of university project.” It then took me a few minutes to give my 15 year old gamepad a working configuration and figure out the basics. The game tried to guide me with specially colored and shaped objects most of the time. At some point though, this seemed to have failed and I was hoplessly lost and a bit bored. I then checked Leeson’s achievement guide and found out I wasn’t lost at all, I just felt lost. I also found out that this was indeed developed as a Bachelor Project.

Completed this one sitting. A solid, hyper stylized platformer that was a blast to play. You’re basically moving through an open world environment, terraforming different nodes to get you from a to b or deducting to get into places. The goal is to achieve a series of parts, scattered around the game world. I went into this assuming it would be a marble madness like – and when it wasn’t, I was slightly disappointed but after getting around to what the game really was, I was elated. Great job devs!

There are 230+ songs from all kinds of genres, one of the most varied song lists I’ve seen in a rhythm game. Also, we’re getting 4~ new songs each month for free.

I get over 500 fps on a slightly dated setup, making the gameplay smooth and input-lag free.

The difficulty distribution covers all skill levels, so both beginners and veterans can enjoy most of the content (except for the 8-keys mode, which only has 1 difficulty per song for now.)

The patterns are quite varied and complements the songs very well, there’s also modifiers to randomize the charts in multiple ways, so you can enjoy the same charts in different flavors

This review is aimed at newer rhythm game enthusiasts looking for another game to play and wondering if this game is for them.
What is EZ2ON ?
EZ2ON is a PC spinoff of the arcade series EZ2DJ (now called EZ2AC for legal reasons, more on that later) which is an hardcore (and I mean hardcore) rhythm game heavily inspired by beatmania. The series is considered extremely high quality by rhythm game standards and is beloved by a niche, almost exclusively Korean, really hardcore fanbase.
EZ2ON first released as a free to play game in 2008, shutdown then revived in 2013 with a new interface and some new songs, then shut down again as the free to play model wasn’t viable. The game was also exclusive to South Korea.

Russian Subway Dogs
8/10: Russian Subway Dogs is a fun, silly arcade game of barking, snatching food out of the air, and surviving the hazards of the Russian subway like bears and chocolate bars. MOLODETS!
Russian Subway Dogs is based on a true, real-life occurrence of stray dogs in Russia using the subways to commute into the city in order to find better food, the commuting back to the suburbs for safer places to sleep. Choose from a collection of referential dogs and cats and get to filling your belly with shawarma and burgers before the other dogs and animals.

Oh c’mon this is a fantastic arcade game with a ton of charm and meat-on-the-bone. Yeah, the price is off-putting at first, but I assure you this is top quality stuff. There is a solid campaign mode that helps you learn the ropes in steps. There is an endless mode complete with Steam Leaderboards. And lots of awesome unlockable characters that are largely cameos from other indie games. It’s surprising how much great diversity they crammed in here. Finally, the pixel art and music couldn’t be better.

Personally, I love this game, the hours played represents that, and personally, I grew up with Harmonix and their music games so t heir marketing is nothing new to me. Each DLC song is 1.99/USD and is purchased separately, which while is a shame there are no packs available, it does allow you to pick and choose which songs you wish to use in the game. The initial set is enough to get you going and through several hours on their own. The mixing itself is very intuitive for a game and I daresay you can entertain a small party or gathering by playing this game. I’ve done twitch streams that were several hours long just jamming to the games Freestyle mode with a custom crate I assembled with different songs, instruments, and sound effects/modifiers. The game comes with 4 main modes, Campaign, Freestyle (and Coop Freestyle where people play together and if the lobby is big enough, a small audience that can make requests of songs or instruments or genres), Battle, and Social Events. The game comes with an integrated mix capture option where you can record up to 128 bars and export it as a video format to share on social media, YT, Twitch, etc.

This game could easily fool anyone as a Triple A title. With it’s extremely astonishing graphics, highly detailed characters, it’s so easy to get sucked up into this world of creativity and imagination. Let’s start off with the gameplay and controls ; the objective is simple , “Find pizza in the highest place”. You’re going to have to walk , jump , climb your way to victory to “Find the pizza in the highest place”. These controls are the least clunky I have ever seen , they are extremely smooth and easy to understand. Oh, and don’t get me started on this game’s soundtrack. It is a musical masterpiece , with it’s wide range of tracks, all of them are all lovable in their own ways. I rate this game a 10/10.
