Hero of Not Our Time

Hero of Not Our Time

I’m recommending this game based on what it could be and on its innovation rather than the gameplay.

This game has a lot of interesting ideas that are badly implemented (and need fixing):

Good idea: Lootboxes for Rogue-like gameplay.

Bad Implementation: RNG is crappy for no reason.

(Late-game, I stopped opening chests because it wasn’t worth it.)

Fix: Improve RNG.

Good Idea: Cybernetic Upgrades.

Bad Implementation: No explanations of items, uses, etc.

Fix: Add explanations for each item.

Good Idea: Modular Weaponry.

Where do I even start…

Every time I try to find something good about this game, I seem to find something wrong. “Initial aesthetics are pleasing! Oh, those enemies with no animation, just static sprite wobble, are ugly as sin.” “Soundtrack seems pretty bangin'! At least it was the first three levels, getting tired of it starting over instead of looping every level transition for the next seven.” “It’s mouse aim, you can’t screw that up! But now it’s not locked to the game field and I’m clicking menus instead of shooting.”

Hey there fellow gamers, I’ve been playing VR rythm games for a while now after switching from Flatscreen Rythm and think I can give at least a somewhat informed recommendation for why GG is worth checking out.- So let’s Cut straight in;)

-So Whats the Game about?

In basic words it’s pretty much a cross between the two smaller VR rythmgames Audica and Synth riders, it’s shooting targets and catching incoming bullets. So yeah, obviously it’s inevitable for any VR Rythm game at this point to not have mechanics aligning with other predecessors of the genre but GG does this quite well and makes for a unique and definitely different experience. (And I will get to this in a bit but it’s EA so certainly the mechanics are a constant WIP and will get fletched out further).

If you are looking for an extreme rhythm game challenge, this one is really well done! The scoring system scale down on a constant quite nicely from perfect timing or accurate shots, so there is a whole ton of room for self-improvement. The developers made tons of accessible options for better performance, or changing up the colors, effects, positioning of your hand and shields, brightness for specific assets, and are also very responsive to the community and bugfixes! This game does take alot of patience to get used to, and is not very casual friendly passed 3+ diffficulty (Sharpshooter), but heavily, heavily rewarding! Been playing it for months now, and its quite the mental satisfaction!

Nice twin stick shooter, with different map types. good although short sound track. tries to have rogue lite elements like ship upgrades, and while they are cool, i was able to unlock all of them right away (with the exception of 1 tier3 unlock). it almost feels as if those unlocks should just be like PowerUp drops during the game. but overall so far i have had a #Funtime

Great game; this game gets more and more dynamic as you progress through the levels. It can get quite intense but the relaxing sound-track adds a nice balance. It seems to be well optimized for PC because it runs smooth and takes little storage. My favorite level so far is 10; maneuvering around the asteroids is good fun and makes a great scenery. I look forward to exploring the rest of the levels and arcade mode.

Typomancer in the Feather’s Way

Typomancer in the Feather’s Way

A very different proposal with a very frantic gameplay this is Typomancer. At first I thought that having to type in the middle of a game would make for a strange experience, but I was totally wrong. The fact of typing brought something quite innovative, where we can have frantic moments when it is necessary to type very fast or even moments when we can prepare for the worst by anticipating typing. I really liked the game’s proposal in combination with the effects. 10/10.
