Ship Handling Simulator

Ship Handling Simulator

If the player has any ship handling or boat handling experience, then he/she will find this simulator of great interest. As others have commented, there is a lot that is missing from it. But, there’s a pile of good stuff that it has got for the ship enthusiast. And, there’s plenty of work to do. If any player can complete all of the tasks set out in Ship Handling Simulator, for all of the ship models, for all of the weather conditions (within reason), then let him/her come on here and boast about it! This game is money well spent.

Being a veteran of Ship Simulator 2008 when my PC was on Windows XP, it is very refreshing to finally have a bug free maritime platform.

One doesn’t have to read all the negative reviews that Ship Simulator Extreme has accumulated, to realize that it has been chronically bugged for way too long.

Now comes to the rescue Ship Handling Simulator.

My operating system is on good old Windows 7/64 on my backup PC, and SHS runs perfectly.

No crash on desk top, smooth FPS, and really nice graphics.

Must point out that everything is unlocked from the very start, all ships and missions are available.

LOGistICAL: Italy

A tale of north versus south. It will keep you bouncing between the two until you finally get what you need to do done. Otherwise very straight forward and will avail you to some quick victories and build your city count. 9/10

Logistical Italy is a great standalone DLC for Logisitical and offers over 1400 more towns to complete. This time there is a more heavy focus on exploring and unlocking everything needed to complete this country wich was great and i highly recommend playing this if you want more.

However, if you are a new player this DLC is not the best place to start as things can get quite tricky and knowlegde of more advanced techniques is useful.

As an added bonus you get 3 extra countries when you get Italy. Malta, Vatican City and San Marino are all part of this DLC.

This one will keep you going for a while with its puzzles, limitations (especially money and where you can build), and the sheer length of the country. While one of the smaller modules, you will still cheer, groan, and maybe rage quit a time or two before it is done!

LOGistICAL: Brazil

Disclosure: I received a free key for this game for beta testing purposes.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Logistical series, I recommend trying out the free demo of the game (“LOGistICAL: ABC Islands”), and then moving on to another module such as Oregon or the base game (Australia) before purchasing this, as the gameplay is radically different from a normal entry in the series. They’re fantastic games well worth playing, but this specific module is not the best entry point.

If you are familiar with Logistical, Brazil is a new entry with about 2,000 towns and no consumption. This means that the module operates very similarly to the Xmas 2017 content addition, where towns are absolutely massive and the challenge lies in having a proper supply chain set up rather than in making sure towns are being completed as efficiently as possible.

Real player with 7083.5 hrs in game

Another fantastic addition to the LOGistICAL family. This module takes some of its cues from the free xmas2017 module, such as a complete lack of town goods consumption. This makes for fairly idle gameplay, perfect for playing alongside another more active module. There are some very complex locked industry chains to solve, which is where the difficulty (such as it is) comes in. If you like LOGistICAL, this is for you.

LOGistICAL: British Isles

Completely addictive. “Just one more city” and then you realise it’s 1am.

Unlock new routes by delivering road building materials. Deliver goods to towns to “complete” them. Sounds simple? Well, yes, the basics are simple, but that’s the appeal I think.

It’s more of a logistical jigsaw puzzle - unlock this, which unlocks this.

I haven’t as yet worked out how to level up storage depots (if possible) for the areas where you can’t get your big trucks on the roads, and you don’t have enough small trucks to deliver all the goods before they are consumed..

If you haven’t played Logistical before, I recommend you check out the base game (just called “Logistical”) and look at the reviews on that, as they cover the game in much more depth than this review, which is mainly focusing on the content addition of the British Isles.

If you have played it before, you know exactly what you’re getting into, and Logistical BI is more of the same. So far it’s probably my favourite module in the series, playing similarly to a much larger version of the Netherlands. There’s no scenario-specific ruleset (like New Zealand’s unavailability of industry-building, or Germany’s quarantine), but that just lets the game play to its strengths in my opinion, giving you a solid pack of uninterrupted content that you can do without needing to focus too heavily on any individual step of the process.

LOGistICAL: Caribbean

This is a great entry in the Logistical game empire. It has some interesting twists and puzzles, some of which may have you scratching your head for a bit to figure them out (or looking for spoilers if you get stuck - the Logistical community is great), and it will keep you busy for a while.

I’ve played almost all of the Logistical modules, and this is one of the few I didn’t enjoy. The idea behind it is interesting - multiple quarantine zones, restricted roads, and use of aircraft - but it just ends up feeling repetitive. I normally played in short bursts, as I found myself getting frustrated if I played more than an hour in a go, and eventually realised I wasn’t enjoying it at all anymore. The thing with puzzle games is, when you solve a difficult puzzle, do you think “oh! I feel glad I worked that out!” or “thank god that’s over”. With Logistical: Caribbean, I found myself thinking the later. There’s much better Logistical modules out there - I can’t recommend this one.

LOGistICAL: Russia

NOTE: I received a key for this game from the developer for beta testing purposes.

This is a review for the Russia module, not the entire game. If you’re looking for a review of the mechanics and enjoyability of the game as a whole, I recommend reading my review of the base game , as the core gameplay loop hasn’t changed too much. If you’re new to the franchise, Russia may be a tough module to start with, but it’s certainly worth giving it a shot if you’re looking for a challenge.

Real player with 893.6 hrs in game

oh my god this is a huge module. This will take you hundreds to thousands of hours to complete. You will get alot of play time for your money and you will have to work through layers of twists, quirks, and limitations. You will cheer, you will groan, and you will rage quit, all with frequency.

One of the first really grindy (but in a good way) modules in the logistical world. You have alot of work to do to begin to get to work! And some small challenges and puzzles, and then New York City and of course their BIG need for one particular resource. You will be challenged by this one!

LOGistICAL 2: France

LOGistICAL 2: France

This is one of my favorite Logistical modules. Why? Because it has puzzles for you to solve, but then rewards you for them in a way that is balanced and very satisfying. The short solutions give you the ability to get a few quick towns quickly. The longer puzzles that you solve give you regional sized rewards worth the effort put in. That kind of statisfaction in a game is to me a hallmark of what I am looking for. I am not saying there are impossible tasks, but there are challenges and completing a rather difficult town can get you excited watching the demands fill up and empty…

Real player with 277.1 hrs in game

LOGistICAL 2: France is one of my top favourite modules so far. It has a great balance of puzzles to solve, both small and large scale. The rewards for solving a puzzle keep you motivated, and are commensurate with the size and nature of the puzzle. It does include some of the L2 businesses, but only as points of interest, not to block town completion. It also makes use of the real world style roads, which make for a nice visual appeal as your trucks wind their way across the country. If you like LOGistICAL, you’ll like France.
