The Holy City

The Holy City

This is an amazing tool for anyone curious to learn more about Jerusalem and the many religions that coexist in this fantastic place. Very well executed. I have to say it’s very unusual for me to review projects. This because very few actually wow me to the point of actually wanting to share it with others…. This is an amazing experience that allows you to feel like you can touch the Holy Sepulcher and place a note on the Western Wall. Just fantastic. I know this is a virtual visit- but the fact the places were scanned from real life really makes me appreciate the accuracy and be able to enjoy looking at each location at my own pace. Throughout this journey I really enjoyed seeing the beautiful realistic-looking recreation of many Jerusalem temples that allowed me to freely look around and spend a lot of time inspecting painting and inscriptions on the walls. When it switched from the interactive gamefied version to the 360 video version was totally amazing to recognize the precise location where the camera was placed and enjoy seeing it filled with real people. I hope to see more soon.

I certainly liked this experience. It’s a walking simulator thing in the night in a cool particle foreset with pensive ambient music. The music builds up and I like it. I like the particle trees too and all that made out of dots. I just don’t understand the point of it, maybe I should have been thinking more about all the objects I found in the woods.

! Something about AI or the future, hell I don’t know. https://youtu.be/yToVvvWXRBc

Singularity is a free VR experience about Virtual Reality Art piece, exploring the Law of accelerating returns and the development of A.I. It worked on my HTC Vive, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. You walk down a path and collect data object as you find them. Teleport is the VR movement mode and you use gaze to collect the objects. Take around 15 minutes to finish.

Try this short walking experience through the data forest.

This app originally released in Russian so I didn’t download it. Luckily, English language support was added back on November 3, 2021. I strongly recommend this experience for anyone interested in history. I will note that the developer is a Russian government owned news agency (Russia Today). However, I found all the information in this app to be historically accurate.

And this is an important piece of history to remember. This is about the trial of five Nazi criminal defendants which include: Göring, Dönitz, Rosenberg, von Ribbentrop and von Schirach. You’re basically collecting evidence in this app sufficient for their conviction and sentencing for crimes against humanity. The whole experience takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes to complete. Most of the information is narrated for you and you will see some videos, lots of photos, & several texts, along with visiting different historically important locations for these defendants.

Nuremberg: VRdict of Nations is a free to play VR experience that is about history. It worked on my HTC Vive system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok, was understandable. This program is now in English, by selecting the English flag on desk. Has 13 steam achievements. Has instructions on vr use at beginning. The English voiceovers was understandable. You have 5 persons of interest to investigate. Looks like there is more than 30 minutes of playtime in this program. You have to search for clues in a linear fashion.

This is a very moving visual novel that does an excellent job of creating small vignettes, introducing the player to many characters. I really felt how they emphasized the weight of a human life, how much was lost in this horrible attack. It’s very short; I recommend you spend half an hour to play.

One of the best zach-like games to exist thus far; A perfect rendition of simple rules leading to complex interactions. The retro pixel art and story featuring historically accurate rock star scientists lends itself well to a fun and engaging game about building the worlds first analog computer. The developer is active and responsive, adding more content fairly frequently, and the community is already both friendly and competitive.

First and foremost: This is a positive review.

I’m unable to beat this game however (PEBKAC) though, so I’m going to caution prospective players:

This game is HARD, and the tests in each level are NOT comprehensive, nor will they give the same results when run individually versus the ‘run all tests’ results. It’s VERY possible to make solutions which pass in test-all but fail on every single test when run individually. Chasing the test scores can easily box you into a dead-end solution path.

The test score results are NOT an actual metric for how usable parts you design are, and almost every part is meant to be used later after it’s made, without any clear description of errors compounding or what to watch out for.

Riddle of the Sphinx™ The Awakening (Enhanced Edition)

Riddle of the Sphinx™ The Awakening (Enhanced Edition)

OVERALL RATING 9.5 / 10.

It took me around 20 hours to finally complete ROTS Enhanced, and I must say it was well worth the price (I’m including the DNCs I also purchased in my opinions: Night Exploration DLC and the Dead Ends/Hints DLC).

First, the DLCs I purchased:

-The Dead Ends (Hints) DLC helped a LOT along the way, when I needed it, which was once in a while. None of the “puzzles” were, to me, illogical…so with some help and nudging I was able to complete everything. There are a LOT of different areas in the game and thus a lot to cover, which the DLC does well. I also appreciated the way the Dead Ends DLC was structured: either hints OR direct solving ,depending on which area/node you were visiting during the game. Player’s choice, and the entire DLC was easily integrated into the game: right click during the game, then click on a menu icon, taking you to the menu where the Hints DLC resides, without quitting out of the game, per se.

Riddle of the Sphinx is a point and click adventure game that was released in 2000. Recently, it has been “remastered” and updated to run on the latest systems. I was very excited to hear that this game was coming to steam and even more excited to hear that the game was being updated. I remember playing this game back when it was first released and I recall loving it then. I was looking forward to reliving fond memories of an awesome game that combined two loves of mine. Puzzles and Ancient Egypt.

After finishing the whole game, despite of my strong objections that I’ve written about in my original review (below), I’ve decided to change my review into thumbs up.

It took me some time to analyze my thoughts, and while I still have strong objections about inconsistency of various gameplay mechanics, the game truly has a charm, is well done and doesn’t deserve negative review, even if as a programmer purely analyzing the consistency of the gameplay I’d rate it negatively without a second thought.

Let me start off by saying that I actually really enjoyed playing the game. The challenges are fun to solve and while they generally were not very difficult, I often found myself going back to old exercises and solving them in different ways.

Nevertheless, with the current state of the game, I cannot recommend it since there are just too many flaws that I cannot overlook even for an early access title.

Many of these are easily fixable, which is why I will go over the major problems one by one so that the developer(s) can consider my feedback.

its not what i expected. you dont get to run your own vet practice. you dont even get your own house or anything. very short game. not very fun.

The devs have apparently never seen an American farm or talked to a real vet. The hillbilly music playing constantly in the background isn’t bad, per se (it’s pretty good, for what it is), but I don’t particularly like that style of music. And not everyone who lives in the country is a hillbilly, for gods sake. So why that music? If they added some alternate tracks, I’d be okay with it.

But the main problem is that it’s goofy. No vet would send an intern to scrounge around in the forest for “healing herbs” (which he can’t even identify) or let him be sidetracked into becoming a delivery boy for the local farmers. He’s ON THE CLOCK. Not to mention the fact that farmers don’t generally leave clumps of goat cheese and bottles of milk just lying around the farm to collect later.

Briddle

Briddle

For the price its a good riddle game, in 3 hours I managed to get to level 13, with some hints. I really liked how the art is all made by hand, gives a very cool look, in my opinion. The game has a very good price-quality, but sill has space to improve on UI, but overall until now I really enjoyed playing and would 100% recommend to someone who like riddles and puzzle games.

If I needed to rate this game 0/10, I would give it a 9/10, the only issue that I found is the UI honestly, apart from that really good game. Sry for my english :/
