Stonehenge VR SANDBOX

Stonehenge VR SANDBOX

Experienced on the Oculus Rift and Windows Mixed Reality

You can view my gameplay and initial impressions review here: https://youtu.be/P983oWnWdyg

I’m surprised that this app doesn’t have more reviews. It’s a good educational app. You get a nice narrated tour of Stonehenge. I definitely learned some things that I didn’t know before about this ancient monument.

You even have your own sandbox where you can change stuff like the time of day or night, the angle of the sun, fog, or you can change the colors of the stones, or add your own. You can listen to your own music while you just chill. You can even fly around and check it out from different angles. You can add your own decorations such as butterflies or your own campfire.

Stonehenge VR Sandbox is awesome software. Very polished and authentic. Stonehenge is one of those places we think about as a child and were looking forward to trying in VR. This experience was more than I hoped for! It is also one of the experiences which everyone in the family can appreciate. It’s a must to try, especially if you are new to VR and want a superb first experience.

OnTheWire

OnTheWire

Sur Le Fil or On The Wire (OTW for Friends) is a game focused on the electricity / electronics, in an interactive and fun way, with 3D animations.

The goal is simple: Have fun while learning to understand the electron, helped by Prof’Fil, your mentor. But, be careful, for a good understanding , Prof will also give you explanations of physics, mathematics, chemistry, mechanics and even history since the game tries to respect the chronology of knowledges.

Sometimes Kelhann, one of Prof’s students, falls asleep and travels through time. You will play it in more or less ancient universes where the villagers will give you missions to improve their daily lives. It’s funny, beautiful, and you will be able to apply your knowledge gained in previous levels. You will have to reinvent great discoveries such as the telegraph, the telephone, the water pump, the lightning rod, the radio and so many other great inventions before you get to contemporary technology.

Prof will also teach you to weld and you will be able, via an experiment mode as well as kits of parts, to manufacture in real what you learned about the game.

No basic knowledge is required and the recommended age for the player is from 13 years old.

For PC, Mac and Linux computers.

Language: French / English (to start)

PC Building Simulator

PC Building Simulator

Pretty relaxing, pretty awesome. When I first downloaded this game my knowledge of hardware was way worse than now. Thanks to this game I feel confident on building a PC. Yes, it’s not perfect. It does skip some parts of the PC building process and this might be bad if you’re trying to learn only through this game. Still, the gameplay is easy to learn and in some minutes you can master it. What made me play it so much was the campaign, that took me from a small company on red to one that builds expensive PCs everyday. Now with the IT expansion this experience is much more improved and it feels much better to play it. There is also the free build part, which basically consists in you being able to build a PC with whatever components you want. Even with all these great things, I think there should more customizable features such as choosing another OS or moving the peripherals. These are certainly not necessary as the game already works perfectly, but it would be cool if they added things like that. Another suggestion would be to implement a multiplayer system, which you could build PCs with your friend. Also not necessary, but me and my friends would love it.

Relaxing little grind game that gives you a fresh perspective on PC building (it doesn’t just blow Nividia weiner) and is great to do while watching shows or movies!

P.S. messing around and making super computers on someones $1200 budget is always hilarious

Noda

Noda

I love 3D data visualization. It really works when the interface is intuitive and you can focus on your data. It’s also amazing to feel the benefit of externalizing your thoughts in a 3D space - the model that you have in your head gets visualized, so that your mind’s eye is in a feedback loop with your real eyes. From imagination to creation, your idea can take form.

Noda makes this process seamless and easy. The visual design of the world and interface is elemental and intuitive, and the resulting creations are beautiful. I used Noda to organize my music library into different genres, something that I’ve always wanted to do. It’s great when you feel at ease and meditative when creating, and Noda is the ideal VR experience for this.

Hi devs !

I bought Noda and immediately spent a whole night on it, working on my story.

It felt amazing, so thanks for that !

Here are my observations and suggestions :

  • My first working environment choice was “Sky only”, but i had to renounce it when i noticed the teleport couldn’t be used there. Could you add an invisible floor to make moving possible there, and in the empty environment ?

  • I made mistakes sometimes, deleted elements, moved this or that and then changed my mind…. I had to redo a lot of things. I don’t know what kind of coding it would implie, but i would definitely have gained some efficacy, had i had a “Ctrl Z” of some sort.
