Does a good job at teaching some interesting information about astronomy, and a pretty cool story line that I liked playing through.

Duru – About Mole Rats and Depression

Duru – About Mole Rats and Depression

Tuli leads a simple life in the mole rat colony: she collects food, meets with her friends and paints the best pictures in the colony. All the while nobody but her sees the dark creature that makes each of those activities a near unbeatable task.

Duru is a 2D puzzle adventure about mole rats and depression. It shows how we all can help people affected by this illness.

Set in a West-African inspired mole rat colony you play Tuli, one of the gatherers of the colony. One day everything becomes harder as Bel, an AI companion and the personification of Tuli’s growing depression, joins the party.

While running, jumping and painting your way through the tunnels surrounding the colony you have to find a way to deal with Bel and its manipulative behaviour. Your constant companion moves objects you painted around, eats them and holds you back in which ever way possible. Learn to use Bels behaviour in a way that lets you progress.

In the mole rat colony that Tuli calls her home her friends notice that she’s acting strange. She’s less talkative, is always late and seems not interested at all in hanging out with them. Some of them get tired of her tardiness…

You can always see how Bel twists Tuli’s thoughts, how it makes her not feel worth being friends with. Through exploring the mole rat colony and interaction with the other characters you can find out which behaviours are helpful to Tuli and which just make Bel grow.

Follow the story of Tuli – a story about the struggle with insecurities, depression and friendship, told in a colorful, accessible way.

What awaits you:

  • a puzzle adventure in a colorful, West African-inspired setting

  • a story about depression told through animation and picture dialog to enjoy regardless of language

  • an AI companion that works with and against you

  • drawing objects to puzzle your way through a lovingly designed world

  • cute characters of the mole rat colony to befriend and uncover their individual stories

Game Of Puzzles: Slavic Mythology

Game Of Puzzles: Slavic Mythology

A very easy, relaxing game with beautiful artwork. The main draw for me was its educational jumping off point to look into the folklore creatures more thoroughly elsewhere. The game play is a simple jigsaw puzzle block mover, and I got through it all in less than an hour on my first play through. I’ve gone back to it a few times when I’ve been stressed and just wanted a pretty game where I had no possible way of failing.

I think the game would be good for kids.

Bakery Shop Simulator

The game starts slowly, but in a good way. Nice slow pace to learn the game and the best way to balance your spending vs. selling. Once you get the hang of it, gameplay speeds up.

Con’s: Rather short play time. Once you have everything you can buy, there really is no goal and it just keeps going, doing the same thing over and over with no new milestones or anything new to be eager for. I would love to see more options open up in the future. Perhaps ad items to spruce up your bakery to make it more, you. Plants, wall decorations, color options, renaming option. These things can be unlocked as you play, giving reason to keep playing.

It’s a simple game, at first your just trying to meet the basic needs with very limited money, which is quite fun, but later after you upgrade a few things your kind of done with nothing else left to strive for. No customisation available to your shop or the wall hangings, your just locked in your little booth with stock and sales register.

The customer requests increase from 1 to 3 items per visit, but that’s about it.

I completed all upgrades/recipes in under 4 hours with a good amount of stock and a full star rating, so it’s very short for a simulator.

I think this is a nice virtual art gallery. Keep in mind, this is not a game. It’s simply a simulation of an art gallery with fractal art being the only type of art featured. You’re in a cozy up-scale gallery and you teleport around to view the art work, I would have preferred full locomotion with smooth turning as an option.

There are several pieces to enjoy. You can stare at them for quite awhile and move around in your playspace to get different views. If you stare long enough, more than likely you’ll start seeing the images moving, even within the static images. Other pieces are not static at all and you can see the images transform and change colors.

I LOVE fractals! Really wanted this to be awesome, but it is not. I dive in and get lost in a good fractal on my VR often, but have yet to find a better option than youtube on my virtual desktop, with the screen stretched as big as I can see. This “game” is just a small collection of still shots, a couple animated fractals, and a odd view of the mandelbrot set that dose not zoom in or do this piece of mathematical art justice at all. I would not buy this even if the fractals are updated regularly, it just lacks the trippiness I’m looking for.

Tombeaux

Tombeaux

A short and (bitter)sweet dive into the American history mostly from nature’s point of view. You’ll get to watch how the last few centuries have treated a beautiful river area that is full of tiny, easily missable details. Your main objective is just to wander around and pick up items that trigger story snippets that - as far as I understood - were written or said by real people of that age. All in all the game seems to put a lot of value on historical accuracy, which is certainly a refreshing thing to see in a video game. And when all of the profits made from this game are even donated to environmental charity, I can only recommend giving this walking simulator a try!

Real player with 2.5 hrs in game

No. Sorry. As much as Tombeaux tries to be an atmospheric walking simulator and simultaneously perform as an educational title it succeeds only in the lastly mentioned and barely. Despite of delivering some quite interesting though general knowledge how indian and western culture clashed in the past and how mankind’s ignorance can lead to the disaster, it is very short, thin and one-sided. While I acknowledge the sins of the white man, this game makes me ponder that should I be ashamed of myself for what happened or should I just shake my head and ignore the game’s far too naive and pious statement.

This is not what I would call a great exercise app for VR. It’s definitely missing a lot of the bells and whistles you might expect from a top tier workout program for VR. The visuals aren’t the best. The interactions are very basic. The UI looks pretty bad.

However, it’s very cheap and it gets the job done, especially if you need rehab exercises / light workouts. This also works as just a meditative experience for VR. There are 2 maps: the forest and the garden. In my opinion, the garden looks a whole lot better than the forest.

I really enjoyed the universe this game brought me to. It consists of a beautiful world filled with dazzling colours and quirky creatures which creates a feeling of otherworldliness. The music option should always be ON as the classical pieces really goes well with this mystical world. The yoga and physiotherapy classes are easy to follow along with, although a bit low intensity - which is understandable as it is meant for rehab. Overall a very relaxing and pretty game!

Algotica Iterations

Algotica Iterations

2.5D logic puzzler with a bit of adventure thrown in. Vivid, colourful graphics and engaging gameplay but spoiled by sloppy execution.

You play as a little robot (I think there are 3 of them but if so they all look the same). You have to plan a route for him along catwalks to hit nodes and reach the exits. You do this by setting a series of actions (forward, backward, turn-left/right, activate, jump, attack…) and then running the program to set him in motion. You keep modifying the program until you get it right, so more often than not you’re running the program over and over, adding new steps to get further each time. You have a limited number of ‘memory cells’ (steps) to reach the exit and I vagely remember something about the less steps the better.

Real player with 9.9 hrs in game

Despite nice looks, I won’t recommend this game… At least for now. It certainly has a potential, but the execution is quite poor and raw. There are quite a few bugs in the game, which sometimes are irritating and make you restart the level, but nevertheless they aren’t crucial (as in you can still progress through game, because those bugs occur only occasionally). Besides all the bugs, my laptop cooler starts spinning like crazy whenever I run the game. Putting that aside, I wouldn’t say that the UI is that well-thought-out either. By that I mean, for example, that to exit the game, you need to first exit the level, then exit “the room”, and only after that, after you OPEN SETTINGS, you can quit the game. Not the most rational way to do it in my opinion. Another issue is, if for some reason I am to write all the robot’s actions one by one, they all don’t fit in the zone where you have all your commands pinned down! And there is no option in this scenario to scroll down to see what you have in the end of your program! And there’s many, many more of such mistakes.
