It’s a nice simulator but it’s still feel like an unfinished product. The train worked fine but after unlocking the other ones it gets quite buggy. It can be a chill game while listening to something else and play this but I will only recommend it if it’s working without bugs.

The game has stopped for me, no new objectives come up and there’s nothing to do. Useless waste of time.

Sid Meier’s Railroads!

Sid Meier’s Railroads!

Sid Meier’s Railroad Tycoon was the third game I ever purchased back in the 1800’s, no, I’m kidding (Though it feels like it at times.) I actually purchased it in 1990 not long after acquiring my first desktop PC. I have played the series religiously since. I have roughly 100 hours in this game in the original 2006 disc retail box version. It certainly isn’t a successor to the venerable Railroad Tycoon III, but it’s still quite enjoyable if you realize this going in. The game is more of a “beer & pretzels” type real time strategy game with an emphasis on attracting more casual type gamers. The game has a charming art style more akin to an HO or N scale model train layout than the ostensible real world look of the previous Railroad Tycoon games.

I’m big on train games. I’m also not the most educated on the finer details of signalling and routing, and find the concepts confusing. I enjoy the business aspects of railroad games more, and like games that let me focus on that.

Sid Meier’s Railroads does just that. It is a very approachable, enjoyable take on the transportation tycoon genre. Block signalling is automatically done for your tracks, and is easy to understand. You get to focus on the fundamentals: what industries have goods? What industries need goods? How can I get from A to B profitably? That is what the game gets fantastically well.

Train Fever

Train Fever

When this game first came out it was a little buggy, and people expected huge things from a developers début title. Which is a silly thing to do for any new developer. (I blame the amazing trailer)

Pro:

 • What do you mean 40 degree incline? - You can’t build wildly inaccurate track as you can in most games, the track has to be quite straight and realistic causing most initial plans that you would try to reuse from other games like TT and RT to be thrown out almost instantly and real planning to come in.

This game always felt like a very expensive Beta. And it is. It’s a 40 dollar beta. It is unsettling knowing that the devs can essentially take the money and run at any point. Though, they’ve stuck with it so far.

So…why shouldn’t you get this game?

As stated, it’s simply not finished. This is hearlding to be the next Transport Tycoon/Locomotion. And it’s just not that. Want to electrify all your rails? Click every individual section, miss one and your train wont run. Don’t know what section you missed? Good luck finding it.

Hi all,

If you look for a management game with a complex economy where you need an calculater to do the maths before you do anything in the game then TP is not for you. If you look for a game which is as realistic as the real world then TP is also not for you and you may want to stop reading now.

If you look for a sandbox game which is easy to learn and gives you an infinite amount of maps where every map puts you in front of new challenges then you may want to continue reading.

Transport Fever works just fine on any computer with better hardware than the minimum requirements. Its not recommended to play the game with just the minimum requirements but i am sure it will work.

150 years of transportation, no accidents, no late arrivals, no lost luggage and no downtime.

This game is addictive. It’s a great overall game, with lots of potential to grow and improve. In terms of stability, I’ve not experience many crashes or bugs, except for out-of-date mod, which have been corrected since. There is a little bit of frame drop late game, but nothing to get crazy about, as it happen mostly mid and end month when there is high budget calculations with a very heavy network. It is very fluid and pleasant to grow a game into late stages. Game mechanic and coding are very stable and well done. Graphics, textures details, sound and soundtrack are above average.

Transport Giant ‘gold’ was/is a great game to play. Nice features for a small game and a lot of opitons for a great transportnetwork.

This game is simular to the 2004 game Transport Giant Gold Edition.

There are a few new feautures who are added on. And the tool to zoom out/in has become a great tool to oversee your map!

What I realy miss in this steam version: " the competitors “. When you start a random map/free to play, the game asks you how many compeditors you want to add on, but they never show to your list of competitors. With this big miss no one can make a nice strategy to overpower the map and take-over other competitors.

don’t buy it. seriously, just DON’T BUY IT.

first at all : I LOVE THIS GAME. spent countless hours, hundreds of them, dozen nights playin' the TG GOLD. really, really love it. and i still love this game. so i was happy to see it at 2 eur and smth on sale. took it right away, start playing it. and the sad truth is that is not worthy of your time. why?

 • FLICKERING. despite what the devs might say, the flikering is unbearable. no way you can play it without headaches after 15 minutes. the devs are claiming that they fixed the issue, but on my GTX 750i video card, it is driving me crazy. at almost each other second, flickering. almost black screens. it was impossible to support it, no matter how much i’ve tried to ignore it.

A-Train 9 V4.0 : Japan Rail Simulator

A-Train 9 V4.0 : Japan Rail Simulator

A-Train 9 V4.0 is not about instant gratification. A-Train 9 V4.0 does not care if you feel daunted or confused. A-Train 9 V4.0 has no time for such trifles as tutorials. A-Train 9 V4.0 makes actual city planners tremble and weep.

And, I love it!

To start, calling A-Train 9 V4.0 a mere rail simulator is like calling a pizza nothing more than a kind of bread. Oh, no no no. AT9v4 is a full on city builder! It focuses around rail transport (be it cargo or passengers). But, soon (very soon!) you will find yourself managing truck routes and distribution centers, setting up passenger bus lines, playing the stock market, and even taking a leisurely cruise around the nearest ocean bay or scenic lake on your yacht.

A train 9 is a fantastic game, don’t let the price put you off as this game is so absorbing you will certainly get your money’s worth. First off this game is pretty hard-core, and reading the manual is essential. It’s also worth remembering that it’s a Japanese game originally and therefore not aimed at the Western market so there are a few quirks which may take a while to master.

Once said quirks are mastered you may actually die of starvation as the “just one more thing” mentality really bites you once you get the hang of this game. The graphics are beautiful especially when use the “train window” function or using a leisure vehicle to drive around the city.

At present: very rough around the edges in the UI department, with a very tedious menu/window navigation scheme and hierarchy. Taking users through many pages of data that is both largely uninformative as well as redundant eventually requiring one to open window after window to reach the end of a menu thread which sometimes yields informative data or a shortcut to a specific object. Also featuring a very basic pathfinding logic regarding railroad placement which will very quickly bog down rail based transportation if not managed personally with signals and the “specific track placement tool.”

I’m quite new to this kind of game. Played some Open TTD before, which i enjoy a lot (free here on steam, check it out!)

This has a lot of the same concepts as Open TTD but expands on it in a smart way (settle on other planets like moon and you can have interplanetary supply chains that come with it).

Played for a couple of hours now and did not encounter any major problems. For an EA title this game is perfectly playable for me. I hope they will add some other methods of transportation in the future like ships and airplanes.

Chris Sawyer’s Locomotion™

Chris Sawyer’s Locomotion™

Buyers beware (this is a extremely old game and does not properly work with windows 7, 8 or 10. All I know is when playing on Windows 7 with a Nvidia card the screen at random will go crazy. So save often and you should be fine. Everything else works as normal.)

I do recommend this game even with the issues I stated above and the more you play the longer it takes to break it seems. There’s no real campaign just “missions” but its still fun even if you don’t play with the missions and just “free play”. Its fun and despite the poor graphics it has a nice art style and has great music. There are so many vehicles to buy and use. All have different stats. Also the AI is really dumb or really smart at times. For $6 its a worthy purchase and I would buy it all the time despite its bugs.

I loved this game back when I was younger. It was one of my very first games I ever played on the computer! When I saw it had come out on steam I couldn’t wait to play it again. It’s even more fun playing it now than it was when I was younger, because now I understand more of the game’s mechanics. But even as a kid I was easily able to create and manage my huge transport company! This game is well worth the price in my opinion.

The outdated graphics may be an issue to some people. In my opinion the game looks very nice for its age, and doesn’t bother me in the slightest. I experienced no issues running the game on my Windows 10 laptop, and it has a max resolution of 1280x768 (which for my 1366x768 laptop screen, fits nicely!)

A-Train: All Aboard! Tourism
Game Overview :
In the world of A-Train, people gather around stations, gradually developing the surrounding town. What kind of railroad will you create? How will you develop the town? All these choices and more are yours to make.
Nyanco's Review :
Japanese Style + Tourism SimCity + Transport Tycoon
[1] Intro
A-Train: All Aboard! Tourism was developed by ARTDINK and published by Degica. A-Train is a business management simulation game where you take on the role of a president of a railroad company to develop towns with an urban, tourism friendly setting. What is this game and what’s in it? Let's take a look at it with Nyanco-chan!

Real player with 11.3 hrs in game

It really is the best version of the A-train. In addition to all the complexity of the A-train PC Classic (previous to this one), kept in this one, the tour/tourist mechanic was added. Besides, it has better information presentation than the previous one as well, and graphically it’s very nice, with an excellent mix of 2d (isometric) and 3d vision. The only downside is with the control (mouse and keyboard), It takes a little getting used to and could be a little better. If you already know the series or like simulators it is worth the full price. Note: Currently it is not possible to change the settings directly from the menu, it is necessary to enter a scenario. In the first tutorial scenario, you have to go a little further to enable the function, If you want to change soon, It is recommended to enter another scenario without being tutorial, to change directly.

HOLD EVERYTHING!

In the past, when I originally left this review, I was barely even critical of the game (I’ve left my original review below). It was an amazingly fun railroad management game that was just the right balance of simulator and tycoon. But after long months of waiting and 80 hours played, the NEW WEST DLC has left me disappointed.

I was enamoured when I saw the release note for the DLC. I had purchased the Trainium Edition, which meant I wouldn’t have to shell out another five dollars to play the expansion. I loaded the game up, pressed Begin DLC, and was greeted with… Omaha. The map only went as far as Omaha. And here I thought “New West” meant “West Coast”. This was a major turnoff. After such a long time waiting and holding out every last bit of hope I had that I’d FINALLY get to build the Transcontinental Railroad, what I got was an INCREDIBLY tedious back-and-forth expansion, a locomotive that wasn’t even as good as the one I had from the vanilla game, NO instance of a “New Carriage” as promised, and a lacking map that didn’t even go west enough to call itself “west”. I played the DLC to completion, and felt like I’d just been slapped in the face. There’s no instance of the Transcontiental, the West coast, or anything. The game ends with a newspaper clipping saying you’re READY to start building, and then the credits roll.

First, let me state this is a pretty fun game. I bought it when it was 50% off ($12.49) and I have enjoyed every minute of it. What I like most is it provides you with a different type of game playing style. A little RPG mixed in with a little bit of management style gamind and garnished with a tad of train simulator. The graphics are pretty good for the game type and minus a few bugs I list below the playability is pretty nice. The combat is pretty unique and I like that you can perform combat while the train is moving or not. It adds for a new dynamic. The storyline is pretty good as well, however I think it could have been drawn out a little longer to give you more gameplay time in the campaign. Now for some of the not so likeable features.
