January 24th Update:

So I’ll leave the original review I did back in October up. I had 40 hours played in the game and because of the bugs I had moved on.

The developer uploaded a new patch and I’m in the middle of school but I quickly checked my biggest gripes about this game, and they appear to be fixed. I found the AI was sapping away my demand and hurting my profits. The market is changed and its much easier to cap demand. It’s much harder to turn a profit in the beginning. The demand for your goods completely changes when you start messing around with prices.

First off for context I played a LOT of capitalism and capitalism2 a LOT… I like the genre, not many do lol. So I’m happy another corporate economic sim has popped up, I have seen reviews comparing it to Capitalism2 but sadly calling it another business sim is about as close of a comparison you might muster. This will be a long review so apologies now.

I like the game so far but it has a few problems, some critical, a few glaring issues and many smaller problems that are managable I guess… I will go over the problems I find with the game in hopes of the development will continue and flesh this game out, although being in full release mode makes me worry… a lot. Maybe they should have hired me to look over their game before release? Can’t just be me… I will use Capitalism as examples and sorry if that gets repetitive.

Honestly, the thought process for the game is there but the execution was horrible.

It is also not optimized for widescreen, text, sliders, and buttons will be missing and unavailable.

This is a day 1 review, and the question I am answering is on day 1, in it’s current state, do I recommend purchasing this game? Since this game is day 1, in early access, I will come back in a later time to review it again. This review is not final.

Pro’s:

An interesting premise

I really can’t think of much else

Cons:

No sound, no music. Just absolute silence.

Visuals are just a map and some stock pictures. If you are expecting more, ou won’t find it here.

I can’t even see where the fun will be at. (Will discuss further down below)

TransOcean 2: Rivals

TransOcean 2: Rivals

Triggerwarning: (this will be a ranting first impression review)

TL:DR version at the bottom. (playtime is not reflective of actual playtime. I left the game running with computer on for nearly 400hours)

My oh my. Deck13 along with publisher Astragon Entertainment, what is this and did you listen at all to your fanbase?

I don’t even know where to begin, I clearly remember a dialogue about what the fans wanted for the follow-up and did you collectively decide to do the opposite of what they wanted in about every way imagineable?

Real player with 413.1 hrs in game

I’m a fan of tycoon games, and I really like the idea of one based on the shipping industry. (I also played Ports of Call back in the day.) TransOcean 2 looks good and runs well but I can’t recommend it for the following 2 reasons: 1) Lack of gameplay balance and 2) lack of gameplay depth. The following focusses on single player modes only as I’m not into MP. (A word on that later)

There is a ‘campaign’. It’s basically a tutorial that delivers what scant details there are to know about TO2 in an unnecessarily drawn out, grindy way. And it’s set to a painfully corny story. (Why does this game even need a story?)

OIL PATCH SIMULATIONS

OIL PATCH SIMULATIONS

i have been playing the game for several months now. there are no problems with this game. everything works properly. technical support is outstanding. i had a problem starting the game because of my system setup is unique and the game itself gives you info on how to contact support. an impressive first for me. the game tells you what is wrong with it and how to fix it. nice. simple fix takes seconds just enter a special code and it fixes itself to work on my system. never heard of that before. top notch game support.

so it says to purge drill rigs to relocate and various other commands that do not have options associated with them. how exactly does this work? do i write my own script to implement these dynamics that supposedly exist or do i just accept the fact that the game is not only broken but not even complete?

A-Train 9 V4.0 : Japan Rail Simulator

A-Train 9 V4.0 : Japan Rail Simulator

A-Train 9 V4.0 is not about instant gratification. A-Train 9 V4.0 does not care if you feel daunted or confused. A-Train 9 V4.0 has no time for such trifles as tutorials. A-Train 9 V4.0 makes actual city planners tremble and weep.

And, I love it!

To start, calling A-Train 9 V4.0 a mere rail simulator is like calling a pizza nothing more than a kind of bread. Oh, no no no. AT9v4 is a full on city builder! It focuses around rail transport (be it cargo or passengers). But, soon (very soon!) you will find yourself managing truck routes and distribution centers, setting up passenger bus lines, playing the stock market, and even taking a leisurely cruise around the nearest ocean bay or scenic lake on your yacht.

Real player with 722.2 hrs in game

A train 9 is a fantastic game, don’t let the price put you off as this game is so absorbing you will certainly get your money’s worth. First off this game is pretty hard-core, and reading the manual is essential. It’s also worth remembering that it’s a Japanese game originally and therefore not aimed at the Western market so there are a few quirks which may take a while to master.

Once said quirks are mastered you may actually die of starvation as the “just one more thing” mentality really bites you once you get the hang of this game. The graphics are beautiful especially when use the “train window” function or using a leisure vehicle to drive around the city.

Fast Food Manager

Fast Food Manager

Absolutely awesome so far, enough to keep you busy to start with. love the way you need to go buy your product/equipment and set up first before you open. Funny characters, easy to use controls, highly recommended for those who like to roam the streets but also work a business at the same time. Looking forward to the first updates :-)

Real player with 108.5 hrs in game

Simple but very fun. I’ve missed these type of games. I’m looking forward to future updates, like furnishing your apartment, more challenging food combos, wider assortment of goods you can buy and use in your businesses, like higher prices, better quality etc… or even maybe more managerial approach with businesses where you’ve hired workers. Great little game overall!

Gas Station Simulator

Gas Station Simulator

The game idea itself is great, however it needs A LOT of polishing to be considered playable / fully released.

Game Breaking Bugs:

  • If you start playing, the performance is OK, however the more you play, it gets slower and more demanding on resources on your computer, perhaps you guys have a memory leak somewhere, or something. It’s not normal to start with ~100 fps and be on ~30 after a hour of gameplay.

  • You should be able to sell your stuff, if you steal from cars A LOT, it all adds up to the warehouse making tight space for your deliveries. If you don’t want to allow us to sell the things, then at least make it that we can throw them in trash or something.

Wildlife Park 2 - Marine World

Wildlife Park 2 - Marine World

Honestly, this is so worth the money. All of the separate “packs” of this game are fairly cheap. I personally find the missions super entertaining. At times it gets tedious to wait for income, but overall I can and will play for hours on end. Went into the game hoping it would be exactly like Zoo Tycoon; though it isn’t really the same, I found a whole different fun to it!!

Real player with 45.8 hrs in game

The Wildlife Marine World I think is probably my favorite from the bundle that I bought of all the wildlife games.

It has all the normal animals that you find plus more marine creatures and I think a Mermaid that costs 25000000 lol of whatever money it is in these worlds.

You also get to set out a scuba diving scooter and a submarine to keep your visitors happy.

It’s a lot of fun if you don’t want anything too taxing and your in a creative mood. :)

Winter Resort Simulator

Winter Resort Simulator

This game has been nothing short of amazing for what it currently offers, but there is always room for improvement and the addition of other things as well. Some of the things in which may be cool are new maps created by the developers along with different lift manufacturing companies like Leitner including North Americas Leitner Poma and possibly older Doppelmayr lifts like Uni-m and stealth. Other older companies like Yan, Von Roll, and Riblet would be cool as well to create older resorts but of course these additions include licensing if not coming from the workshop but offering as a DLC would be great too. Work on minor fixes would also need to happen like better rendering and better rates at FPS. Its getting better, but its not there yet, but I can also see how rendering with LUA code causes lag, but fixes to this would be great. This could also include better optimization for larger user created maps as well. All in all its a great game and the sandbox feature is amazing for what it offers now but more like larger map sizes than what there is now would be cool. Another thing in which may need work on is creating lower tris count trees so that they dont contribute to the render lag as much as they do.

Hello, everyone I really did like the stunning detail with slopes and mountains and train weather and sky and snow animation makes me really believe I am actually on the slopes. The Chair Lift mechanics and attention to detail is worth buying the game in itself, but as of right now the game doesn’t have munch to offer, just a bunch of restursants to purchase, and I still haven’t found the other chairlifts besides the ones you start out with. I don’t know if your supposed to place them or not. Also why would you place rented ones. It don’t make munch since to me. In all and all if given some time and patience this game could be a top Selling game. Anyways happy gaming. :) Also can you at least give us a named map where everything is at and mark my charactor walking so I know where I am at. Also slop start/end locations would be good too. Anyways it has the protential to be a really great game, but needs more help.
