Discord Rich Me! (Custom Rich Presence)

Discord Rich Me! (Custom Rich Presence)

Works great! Easy to use and so far it has basically no bugs. The only thing that needs to be done is add the all the templates.

EDIT:

Now that i have over 1000 hours in Discord Rich Me, I can confidently recommend this program to any user who wants just an extra little touch to there Discord profile. One of the great things about Discord Rich Me is that you just start it, minimise it to your tray, and forget about it. I have Discord Rich Me running 24/7 on a spare Windows 7 Laptop i have thats over 16 years old and there is 0 performance change. The community in the Discord server is friendly and can provide help if you need it. 10/10 program, 100% worth the money.

Please understand that Discord Rich Me! is currently in BETA. It’s still missing a ton of features, but they have a lot of things planned according to their discord.

Review

As a very prominent and long time Discord user, Discord Rich Me! provides, as of April 19 2021 (19/04/21) a very straightforward interface, with some helpful (though subtle) guides on what every single textbox function does.

At the very least it provides very basic rich presence functionality, but very much so simplifies all of the painful steps it takes to make a rich presence. I do understand that this is still in beta though, and I will re-review once more features have been added over time.

Dudes on a Map: Virtual Grid Paper

Dudes on a Map: Virtual Grid Paper

I can’t say enough about how great this tool is for helping with running my game! It’s simple to pick up and start playing with, without having to study tutorial videos. Easily import your own maps in jpeg form, and you’re on your way to having a great time with friends. There are some ‘fancy’ features, like having 2 different types of fog (one standard and one for secret areas you don’t want to accidentally reveal), marking up areas of effect, initiative tracker, add in your own monster/NPC tokens, and a dice roller (with the option of using symbol dice for different game systems). While these are great, you don’t need to use them if you don’t want to. I tired of trying to learn how to use other systems, and my experience of using dudes has convinced me that I don’t need to while still having a great time with my friends.

Been playing since the earliest Alpha releases. Also, for respectful reasons of this review, I did not get it for free but I am close to the creator so, anyone reading this, perhaps you’ll feel that there’s bias BUT, I will happily preface it at the top here first.

Dudes On A Map, for me, can be described as the easiest non-tech proficient program for playing RPG’s online with your friends. While some may say “Scoff, there’s not nearly as many tools and all these bells and all those whistles.” I would reply to them “Good, I don’t want all that and, to be honest, I don’t want to take a small 101 course just to get my games running.”

MOENTO - Modular Environment Toolkit

MOENTO - Modular Environment Toolkit

Let me start by saying that this is one of my favorite games at the moment.Ā

I think we all have times when we just don’t know what to play, or you just want to relax and not play CS:GO against spinbotterā€¦ This is the game that fills this gap.Ā

I randomly saw this game and instantly fell in love with the assets.Ā

In the beginning it was a little hard to get an overview of all the buttons, but they were all pretty self understanding. After I played a little around I started working on a house. And let me tellā€¦ it is SO SATISFYING to do build anything in this gameā€¦ the animations are on spot 3 I posted it on the Discord of bblessed Gamestudios and the Developer loved itā€¦ so sweet.

This is really, really awesome. Once you get used to the controls and how to work things, you can throw together pretty much anything. I give this game a 10/10

Piecewise: build chat bots with blocks

Piecewise: build chat bots with blocks

Despite being a solo dev, the developer of this software really knows what their fans want. On Friday, I had burned my hand with flaming oil and stayed eight straight hours in a neglectful “healthcare” facility that took eight hours to bandage my recently singed flesh. This left me with very limited use of my left hand, thus rendering me unable to make a chat bot by coding as it requires two hands to type. But with Piecewise, I can drag blocks onto blocks with just my mouse. This hero of a developer kept their clientele in mind, and made it so this software could easily be used with one hand. Obviously this was designed for people with limited mobility such as myself, as I cannot think of any other reason why this software should be used with one hand. These design choices lead me to believe that there is still hope left for humanity, 10/10.

Yag

I use this regularly to stream tabletop stuff on Twitch and it works GREAT. If you want something more immersive than the prevalent 2D platforms, YAG really has a lot to offer. Your players can go First Person, Third Person, or even top down if they want. Flexibility and the already multiple updates are just two of the perks offered by using YAG.

It does take some additional prep on the front end from your GM building out your maps, but once they are built you can save them. The good news is you can make massive changes with the very easy to use terrain tools. I personally think it’s a fair trade off for the level of immersion.

Bloody amazing. Its a dream so far, needs work but yeah, this is the best map building starting point for dnd or any board game so far!

Keep it up with updates and i expect we will all have this soon!

PixelOver

PixelOver

This is a tool for pixel art that I wasn’t expecting I’d get in love with so much! ^^

Even in early access, PixelOver is a pretty solid and unique software. Also, it’s constantly & actively improved by the developer (and it kinda amazes me how fast he’s working with this project).

Here’s a (non exahustive) list of features from PixelOver that I like a lot :)

  • It converts normal 2D art to pixel art (you can use bitmap files and vector files!)

  • Customizable palettes, shaders and dithering for pixel art conversions

ā€“ Real player with 39.2 hrs in game

it’s Early Access, but it gives you enough tools for it to be worth a buy! Quick and easy bone animation, but it’s not just that, you have other options, like transform, deform and skew! A warp transform tool would be so amazing if added!

You can manipulate these tools on every individual frame on your animation if you want!

PixelOver is pretty useful! I love it!

I got this because I have a really low ceiling. I’m 5'7" and my ceiling is 6'4". so the ceiling is pretty much right above my head. I opened the program to find that there were no settings and I only had 3 boxes I could move. So I made a big wide box and put it above my head and the BLARING SOUNDS made me close the program every single time I wanted to play vr. BUT then I took the plunge and looked through the .xml files for settings. (You have to use the one with a room id!!!) I turned off sound, and found a setting for ceiling height so I didn’t have to put a haphazardly placed box above my head. After doing that this program is a must have for me and I love it. Also the impact prediction is also amazing and has saved me from many collisions in Boneworks. Save your controllers and get this if you have a low ceiling!!!

Because windows mixed reality software is god awful, you can’t adjust any of the chaperone settings its either they are ON or OFF. You can’t adjust the activation distance or anything. I play in a very small area with a bed in front of me and a 70 inch desk on the other side behind me. This program is perfect because it lets me put an invisible wall behind me where my desk is so I know where I am facing in vr. If I see the invisible box outline I just simply turn away so I don’t risk slamming my desk. Perfect for people who don’t want to use guardians but still want to prevent themselves from hitting things. It would be cool if the dev can make a “fake steam vr guardian” that can be manually placed around your room and adjusted like the crates which would be fully adjustable with activation distances and everything. Would be really helpful for Windows Mixed Reality users who have limited ability to change stuff like that in mixed reality portal.

Dynamic Dungeons Editor

Dynamic Dungeons Editor

For those who don’t know, this is a complete re-do of the old Dynamic Dungeon Editor which had a some what dated feel to it.

The new DDE is built with Unity and has a much better feel to it.

If you play table top role playing games on a TV, monitor, or projector setup with people physically in the room with you (not playing remotely) this is the best software currently out.

It has a small learning curve in my opinion, but honestly anyone can use the basic features: load a map (animated or static) and start playing Dungeons & Dragons or whatever RPG your heart desires.

ā€“ Real player with 142.4 hrs in game

I originally purchased Dynamic Dungeons through Patreon and it has been a game changer for our DnD games. The ability to use a quick change map, pre-build the campaign, download or create custom props and then reveal it all slowly with fog of war is just amazing. Add to that the options for particle effects, motion background and immersive environmental sounds and you have a classy set up for your DnD gaming sessions.

I do all my creation on my robust PC and then copy the campaign over to the laptop for the session itself. We set up a 40" LCD TV on a pool table with Plexiglass on top to set out miniatures on. The players move their minis and I control NPCs, fog of war and other features from my laptop for them to view on the screen.

  • It didn’t work at all on my HTC Vive HMD, even though it says HTC Vive support.

  • Has No instructions or clear instructions.

  • Has No Exit button, i had to use Task Manager to End Task it while in VR.

  • Could not Rotate while in desktop.

  • Could not Alt + Tab out of the program window.
