Anew: The Distant Light

Anew: The Distant Light

THANKS FOR THE EARLY ACCESS!!!!! I am so excited for new updates and releasing more of the game/map! Makes me think of two of my fav games in the genre of all time Salt & Sanctuary meets Hollow Knight. Of course not the same as SnS and HK, but up there and once it’s a finished game who knows!!!! Thanks so much!!!! THE ART IS SO COOL!!!!!

Negative Reviews of a game in EA makes ZERO sense! Either give a thumbs up or pass on by creeps, this is a stylistic game, if you hate style go play a AAA title, and get your fix. THIS GAME IS GOLDEN!!! RARE AND AMAZING!

I really enjoyed playing the Demo, the game looks great and you can tell they put a lot of work into it. Unfortunately I found the game to be too difficult, its very unclear where you need to go and what you need to do I would have liked a little more direction built into the game or at least some options to control the difficulty level, maybe at a lower difficulty level there could be more tips and clues? Also found the way that your game was saved there is a continue option but I found that the continue button was hard to keep track of I kept having to restart the game and could not make any progress would have liked a set of a couple game profiles or a conventional save\load system. I put a little over 50 hours into this game and there’s so much good here but for the reasons above it culminated in disappointment and frustration for me. I will hang on to this one and try it again sometime in the future, its a good looking and compelling game if some improvements are added I think I could really love it, but as is it kinda drove me crazy.

Mage World - The Wizard’s Stone

Mage World - The Wizard’s Stone

This game feels like a product of ambition from an emerging developer, and I’m all for it.

It’s a basic platformer where you collect coins to unlock other worlds and extra lives, as well as new spells upon beating each world’s boss. I’m a fan of this, besides the fact that you really don’t need any other spell once you get Force Burst.

I played through all the levels available as of now, and it’s a pretty lengthy game for the price. That being said, it’s overall fairly easy, and a lot of the levels don’t have much that make them distinct from one another, but the levels in Episode 2 ramp up the difficulty considerably, and I found it pretty engaging, aside from a few somewhat frustrating jumps and enemy placements.

Absolutely love the music and the boss fights. There are still some small bugs and typos I noticed, but nothing that hinders enjoying the experience this game offers.

Mudge is easily my favorite boss fight, and the parrot was definitely amazing. I also really love that each boss fight offers players a unique challenge different from the previous ones. The Yarn power ups that were added since the demo are also really rad.

Keep up the good work, all! 3

A surprisingly difficult platformer that is well flushed out, its a great time with friends and trying to get further than the other. As someone who typically doesnt do platformers like this, I truly enjoyed the experience and purchased a copy for my friend.

Orbital Bullet – The 360° Rogue-lite

Orbital Bullet – The 360° Rogue-lite

Before OBs latest update the game may have been small with regular updates to areas, weapons, and perks, but it was also pretty much bug free, promising for an early access game, and worth the small price. Since the For Eternity update I can’t recommend the game anymore. Every perk and ability had their points removed, not refunded, and previous games were erased. This game is not connected to a cloud so recovering those saves is out of the question. Replaying and unlocking everything was not fun a second time since the update brought an overload of bugs. Mobs still getting stuck in terrain preventing you from advancing even though the devs state they fixed it, perks showing they’re unlocked but not taking effect, getting some perks although I haven’t unlocked them, picking up ammo but weapons showing as empty and unable to fire your weapon, among many others, as well as horrible optimization that eats your PC’s memory.

honestly it’s delightful. I was sceptical of the concept when I downloaded the demo when steam had the big showcase a few months back, Foregone and orbital bullet(even as demos) became my go to games for short burst of entertainment when I only have 20-45 minutes to kill. I’ve logged about 35 hours since purchase and I haven’t ever felt like the gameplay became repetitive or grindy, the versatility of randomized skill tree builds, gun drops, maps, and merchant pickups makes it feel like a new challenge and keeps things interesting. Gun play is unique, the soundtrack is decent and the in-game sounds and various creature/enemies, the development investment is incredibly apparent and appreciated, it doesn’t feel like a clone of this or that, it’s pretty unique, to me at least, albiet that’s said with my semi limited scope of current and recent releases. End of the day Im more than happy with the purchase, obviously at some point the allure and interest is gonna fade, but for a game I could easily see myself dumping 100 hours into in the next year or so, at 11-12$ that’s a steal. it’s just fun the machanics are solid, a few small bugs but nothing game breaking, and in early access I am definitely more than a little excited to see what a polished fully developed iteration of this game will be. good stuff.

I love the game, I think it should have tutorials for newbies. Otherwise, the art is cute and game play is good.

Meh, the game took me 1 hour to play through and there was a lot of pointless back and forward to get the game to progress, going back to older places to change something to get further in the game is a very illogical and silly way to do things. I would never have figured out that I had to go back to change something to affect something like 7 scenes further in the game.

The move swapping and graphics style is very MegaMan’ey but that’s about the only positive about the game, it is currently still in “Early Access” ending with a message stating the full game isn’t out yet… so … yeah … if the game is longer and more logical it could be quite fun. I guess we will find out later next month.

Was looking forward to this one, but sadly the starting experience just ruined any interest I had.

Firstly, the game requires extra software, something that should be included within the game files much like other games do that require certain versions of DirectX or Visual runtime. Instead I had to go to the forum to try and find people with similar issues, find the correct download link, and then download and install.

Secondly, the brief time I had with the game was frustrating as hell. Not in a good way either. Other “Metroidvania” games can be brutally challenging but fun at the same time. This just felt clumsy, unresponsive and frustrating. Not to mention being re-sent back to the start because you are on a timer (oxygen?) while you are trying to solve a puzzle.

Huckleberry Fields Forever

Huckleberry Fields Forever

A priceless painting has been stolen, and the only ones who can find it are Huckleberry Fields and his friends. Huckleberry Fields Forever is a platformer mystery mashup: think platformers (Super Mario World, Sonic The Hedgehog, etc.) mixed with mystery exploration games (Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego), all procedurally generated.

Chase thieves around the globe. 50+ real-world locations. Hundreds of levels.

Interview witnesses. Gather clues. Eliminate suspects.

Awesome co-op platforming action.

  • Mystery platformer: Classic 2D platforming action mixed with mystery and exploration. Was the thief bald? Did he wear glasses? He went boating on the Spree–where’s that? (If your geography is rusty, don’t worry, press pause and check the handy in-game reference.)

  • Travel the world: Catch a flight to anywhere on the globe open-world-style and visit hundreds of levels across over 50 real-world locations.

  • Procedurally generated: Each case is procedurally generated from meticulously handcrafted components, including the overworld maps, levels, and even the suspects.

  • Exploration: Secret exits, hidden rooms, invisible blocks, special items. Keep your eyes open because there’s a lot to find and discover in each and every level.

Hidden in each level are witnesses and clues. Find them to figure out what the thief looks like and where they went. Or get distracted earning coins to spend in shops, riding motorcycles, completing outdoor patches (sidequests), or even get a job. But don’t dally too long.

Huckleberry and friends have only 72 hours—about an hour in real time—to solve each case, which is perfect for a single play session. Play for an hour and actually accomplish something. Or binge your way through the whole multi-case story arc. That’s cool too.

Randomly generated cases and procedurally generated levels means no two cases will be the same. New suspects, new world maps, and new levels every case.

The world is packed with 100+ unique items to discover and collect over the course of your adventure. Upgradeable weapons, equippable shoes that provide new abilities, permanent skill upgrades, and even new characters and outfits are scattered throughout the world for you to find and play with.

Solve the case alone or with friends. Grab three of your closest buddies and work together to track down the thief. Or just hit each other with hammers and baseball bats in a frantic race to the level exit. Either way. It mostly depends on what kind of friends you have.

SLIDE: platformer

SLIDE: platformer

This game is a UUP (Unity-Used-Properly)

How was this game released almost three years ago and has never gotten positive attention?

The design reminds me of the Edmund McMillen game “The End Is Nigh” that released last year (2017), although SLIDE´s controls take way longer to get into.

I just bought “SLIDE: platformer” and played for about 1 1/2 hours, only getting to Level 7 and without being frustrated! No game does that (now I stopped playing though because my left thumb hurts like hell and I might consider seeing the doctor). When I get back I will certainly find a way to continue.

Lawful evil gaming at it’s best.

This game is mean. Sometimes it is literally Stalin. But at the same time, it is completely fair — no surprise deaths or anything.

Every death is on you, and it definitely feels this way. Controls are not simple by any means, but they are really precise, and learning curve is steep enough, so you don’t get lost. Level design is smart and transparent, and beating every level feels nice.

One half of Dusforce, one half of Guy levels from SMB. In a nutshell, it’s like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, but here if you don’t grind, you get impaled by spikes. As easy as that.

30XX

30XX

Having played the original game, this one has yet to come even remotely close to the original and has actually seem to have added multiple features specifically to make the game harder at the cost of enjoyment. A number of thing such as the graphics have been improved, sure, but at the cost of being able to tell what’s going on. For instance, the mole people which are the bane of my existance. I have taken so much damage from these fuckers it’s unreal. They blend so easily into the background and during the “contemplate” sections I’ve cleared every enemy then just thought “wow, that’s strange, the door hasn’t opened yet.” They just blend into the background and don’t announce themselves until you’re in melee range. It’s kind of very annoying.

A promising start to the sequel of 20XX. Much like the first game, 30XX is a roguelike Megaman X clone. You can play as Nina or Ace, who are this game’s X and Zero respectively and navigate through a platformer obstacle course riddled with enemies and hazards to reach the end and take on the boss of the area. Defeating them will yield a Power for Nina or a Technique for Ace.

Things different from the original:

Bosses and levels - Rather than the traditional eight bosses, there are only seven (As of the Fires of Industry Update), but each boss has its own unique stage aesthetic as well as theme song (this also includes the boss and victory music). In addition, minibosses have been included in the stages which are a neat challenge and they also reward you with a lot of Bolts, Memoria, and an augment of your choosing.
