Sky of Destruction

nice game, but it seems to be stuck in early access limbo. As is, it’s kind of good. get’s a little repetitive after a while. not a bad game, just kind of incomplete.

Update, no Updates. Bye.

I Like it so far, but there is more work to be done. The Game is updated frequently, this looks promising. The Gameplay might seem a little bit easy made, but the Hunt for Upgrades is it that binds me to Games.

Alien Dawn

Alien Dawn

Edited/Update: I had a lot of fun running with the developers (Christian and Jes) the day after writing this review :D We completed my first (and currently only) escape. I’ve been playing it daily ever since, determined to stay alive as long as possible before completing a second escape. I’ve made it a few days. I just wanted to say this is a really unique game and if I may add a suggestion, I would really love to pick up the enemy heads after shooting them off. I’ve seen numerous basketball courts around the map and it would be a healthy pastime. It’d be better if I could put them in a backpack but I won’t push it. I won’t push it. You’re the best.

If you are a lurker, like I am, then this is the review for you.

This game is made by a duo, two people. What has been achieved here is rather impressive with the amount of systems they have in place. From having a reliable Desktop and vr mode, to the humble animation of eating something, there are many things going on under the hood that many may miss. Sure, there are going to be bugs especially since this has just recently released on early access.

Early access is meant to be a time to support the development, and to directly help shape the game. This game is no exception, the developers are wonderful human beings, who listen to you and genuinely enjoy spending time with people. One of the most impressive things I’ve seen these devs do, is on a few occasions, invite those who have negative experiences to the discord to chat about where the problems lie. These devs acknowledge there are problems and acknowledge that feedback is one of the more important tools in their toolbox. I see these devs going a long way with the attitudes I have observed thus far, even before I directly engaged with them.

Avis Rapida - Aerobatic Racing

Avis Rapida - Aerobatic Racing

What can I say about Avis Rapida other than this game is bonkers, and I love it.

The flight model isn’t the best (but I’ve seen worse), but it gets the job done, and the shortcomings of the flight model play into the course design perfectly.

Some of the courses tell you to do things like fly backwards, land on a wall, or land like a pogo stick.

One that sticks out in particular is a map where it tells you to pull half a cobra and fly the whole thing backwards, and then land, while still going backwards.

Real player with 5.7 hrs in game

Disclaimer: I was a Beta tester for this game.

Avis Rapida is a checkpoint plane racing game. You fly in a track composed of a series of checkpoints, of which there is a nice variety, from the normal checkpoint through which you can fly on any orientation to more demanding checkpoints that require you to fly through it sideways or even backwards. The variety in checkpoints allows from some pretty imaginative track design (and you can design your own tracks, too) and it’s supported by a good, simcadey physics model: You can feel, for example, how different it is to fly a plane in supersonic speeds, and the model also allows for post-stall maneuvers like the Cobra or the Kulbit. Even then, it never feels like you need a professional flying license to be any good at it, and it’s also perfectly playable on a normal Xbox Controller or something similar. The graphics are fine, the game runs pretty smooth, there’s support for local multiplayer and leaderboards, and apart from a loading period when opening the game there are no loading screens once you’re playing, which is good because on some of the harder tracks you can end up obsessively retrying and retrying to get that checkpoint just right; it has a feel similar to that of games like Trials or Nitronic Rush, where the only obstacle betwen you and the finish line is your own skill.

DARKKi’s Dark Star Reviews - Combat Air Patrol 2

In Combat Air Patrol 2 you get to fly AV8B Harrier II subsonic attack aircraft in areas around Straits of Hormuz (250,000km2 geographically accurate area) in and later in fully dynamic open ended campaigns with flight / naval mission planner. CAP2 is simulator and it’s not recommended for arcade pilots but great choice for people who want realistic simulator (and HOTAS setup is recommended but not necessary) with lots to offer! I would say this is not as realistic as DCS (it sits between DCS and Strike Fighter / Novalogic F-16 / Total Air War games) series but how it has modeled many things is just amazing like flight model is really good with and you can really feel the speed when flying low with 3D waves. Also this game is pretty easy to get into if you have not played much simulators.

As of writing this review it is 11/22/2017, and I nomitated Combat Air Patrol 2 because this game has the scope of everything I needed to see in a game. I mean when I first read that you’ll be able to command the LHA fleet around, I immediately locked eyes with this game. I’ve been looking for years for a “Silent Hunter” esque game that instead of submarine commanding, you commanded a carrier which is arguably a lot more challenging. Now i’m pretty sure the devs will most likely not add in a “supercarrier” such as the Nimitz, Enterprise, or Forrestal Class carriers, but it will greatly expand the game, even if you can’t fly the aircraft you launch or recover. But again, the carrier we have right now is a LHA or Landing Helicopter Assault, or to go deeper a Tarawa Class Landing Helicopter Assault is good enough. Basically this ship is built for the marines, it houses a Marine Expeditionary Unit, which is the smallest Marine air-ground task force in the United States Marines. This carrier is designed from the ground up to assault places, and the main plane you fly is basically designed for operations off this type of carrier, the AV-8B+.

EVERSPACE™ 2

EVERSPACE™ 2

This is of course a review of the Early Access version, so some of the cons I find with the game, might disappear with the final version.

*If you like Space Simulators, this is a game for you.

THE GOOD

• Lots of fun, although, (and this is probably related to it being early access) things get repetitive very fast.

• Controls are fine, you get the hang of everything rather quickly.

• For those of us who enjoyed games like Tie Fighter, Descent and FREESPACE, this is our type of game.

It has been 18 years since Microsoft released the game Freelancer. In that time, no other game/developer has succeeded in capturing what made that game great, and brought us a game like it. You can find many space games that have failed to bring us that genre properly. Many times people saying things like “Closest thing to Freelancer, best since Freelancer.” However, it’s always known that they aren’t actually that close, or nearly as good. This game however, is hitting ALL the right check boxes for being a PROPER Freelancer successor.

Reentry - An Orbital Simulator

Reentry - An Orbital Simulator

Usually If I do a review it’s mostly something short and not really relevant. This one deserves a bit more attention.

If you are into space then this is a title you must add to your collection. At the time of writing this the sim offers 3 programs the USA undertook in the 50’s 60’s and 70’s namely the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs. The developer is a one man team who so far has done an amazing job bringing these programs to live with a very high level of detail and accuracy, basically every switch there was on these spacecrafts, is or will be in the sim and will have a function and affect your systems. The simulator has a learning curve especially when diving into the Apollo, LM lessons/academy.

Real player with 531.3 hrs in game

This is a full fidelity cockpit simulator of the American spacecraft that were used during the Space Race. To keep this review from being unnecessarily long, I am going to break down the features of this game into a list.

Features in this game (what you can do).

  • Fly the Saturn V and all it’s modules, Mercury Redstone, Mercury Atlas, Gemini Titan, and drive the Moon Buggy.

  • Create custom missions for different objectives and scenarios.

  • Play as Mission Control for Project Mercury and Project Apollo. Please note that Mission Control in this game is not limited to just one person, and you could have a full room assisting and guiding a single astronaut. (Cockpit coop is not a feature yet, and the developer is using Mission Control to test the logic and systems).

Rocket Shipment

Rocket Shipment

It’s a good game which I’m happy to have bought.

It’s all about mastering the physics of your spaceship while also managing the momentum + angular velocity of objects that you’re tasked with towing to a designated area. Sounds simple, and it is, but there’s a lot of fun in getting good at the mechanics and trying to beat levels with the shortest time / highest score / without dying. By default, though, you get 5 lives per level which makes it pretty reasonable to complete everything if your goal is to get through the game.

Real player with 23.1 hrs in game

Rocket Shipment is relatively simple, and yet pleasantly addicting. I’ve also not seen any other games quite like it on Steam.

The goal is to fly your ship around inside of a cavernous asteroid and move cargo to a landing zone. Sometimes you have to move multiple cargo, each to a specific destination indicated by the color of the cargo and the flags around the landing zones. You start by navigating your ship close to a cargo container, and when you are close enough the container turns green to indicate that you can grab it by deploying your cable. They you must then tow the cargo to its destination. After you drop the cargo on the landing zone (and the cargo is confirmed to be “delivered”), you must land your ship on the grey landing zone.
