Togainu no Chi ~Lost Blood~
I want to mention that I played this game in 2006 and might have massive nostalgia goggles. I absolutely love this game and can recommend it to every BL lover who seeks something more rough. (I also recommend getting a certain patch from a certain website for little money as the Steam version lacks certain contents)

A Pretty Boy Goes to Prison
I want to say I have mixed feelings about Togainu no Chi, but the truth is I really enjoyed it and at times loved it. Still I have some issues and reservations which I’ll try to explain in this review. Togainu no Chi is the first Nitro+ Chiral BL game and one that appears to have been a great influence especially on DRAMAtical Murder. It’s also a game full of yaoi tropes, good and bad.
The setting is post-apocalyptic Japan split in two with Tokyo in the middle left as a lawless wasteland. The most dangerous district, Toshima, is a home to Igra, a game in Slavic languages, but one played to death. It’s actually kind of like a gladiator- street fight hybrid. Akira, the protagonist, is forced to participate and try to beat Il Re, the legendary phantom-like entity that is the undefeated king of Igra. This turned out to be a part of something much larger and life changing.

The game was very cool and taught me about whats going on in the world. The use of visual metaphor and game play to convey the idea of a world that is working against you is pretty cool. This may just be pondering in my part, but the female and male models stacked in top of each other to convey that you are in-between is pretty smart and it’s embarrassing to say that it took me awhile to get it.
Great game with great mechanical and visual story telling. Hope everyone stays safe and has a great pride.

The character walks around backwards is that on purpose like a homage to OoT speed run? (That would be cool but …) As for the story I could not figure it out so I stopped reading and explored. Interesting game but have no idea what’s going on. The secret room was cool tho.

Vengeful Heart
Great cyberpunk VN with a heavy, HEAVY emphasis on the ‘punk’, Vengeful Heart was a brisk, thrilling read! The aesthetic was great, the music is great, the whole novel is criminally underrated. The plot is exactly what I was hoping for and even more pulse-pounding than I expected. It’s not perfect - a couple of the plot beats fell a little flat, like Little Jimmy and the two romantic options' jealousy - but overall it was a worthwhile read.
Don’t pass this one up!

What Am I in For?
Vengeful Heart (VH) is a visual novel set in a futuristic dystopian world. The game is purely a reading experience, with only one choice players make close to the very end of the game. Outside of megacities, life is very difficult due in large part to the lack of water and heavily polluted desert sands. Players follow the story of a hydraulics engineer turned activist leader by the name of Josephine Lace, formerly employed by Nepthys, the largest water company in an unnamed city. She ends up losing both her home and job, then soon after begins her crusade against the many injustices her former boss slowly enacted over the course of the story.

First, props for using a person-of-color female main character that doesn’t fit the standard mold. She’s a lesbian, black, tattooed, blue hair, under arrest, etc. It’s refreshing to have someone who differentiates from what other main characters are, but also has great background leading up to the events in the game.
I very much enjoyed this game. Since it is focused heavily on dialogue, the developers did an amazing job fleshing out the characters and making you feel for them. Everyone has their own personality and it certainly shines throughout their interactions with the female MC. I felt for everyone in the game, with whatever happened to them.

Chuusotsu! 1st Graduation: Time After Time
Review with accompanying gameplay videos on Sinical Network
I recently received this game for free as a curator connect offer for my group Visual novel, JRPG, Anime. This kinetic visual novel from Studio Beast and Fruitbat Factory features a trio of unemployed teenage girls Arue Marisugawa, Koiro Hachisuka and Arara Fujisaki with Arue as the protagonist in this episode.
Arue, Koiro and Arara were ineligible to wear any authorization seal which renders them unable to hold any permanent stable employment and hence became Chuusotsu. Arue plans to take a re-evaluation exam and become a government official after missing a crucial exam during middle school from being hospitalized. To be able to survive in a foreign city on a stipend without having to work, Arue has to participate in an experimental study where she has to stay in Tabula Rasa apartments with Koiro and Arara, achieve sufficient synchronicity among themselves and give an answer to the philosophy of life.

Chuusotsu is a cute sci-fi slice of life medium length (by medium I mean between 8-18hs, anything above is already into the longer side) kinetic visual novel with a lot of layers behind the seemingly simplistic front.
You follow the misadventures of Marisugawa Arue as she tries to reform her life as a shut-in, reach her dreams and obviously make some friends along the way. However, things quickly take a turn into the weird and strange but thankfully with a satisfactory conclusion and lead up to the mini sequel.

Galactic Refugees
this is a really nice game with pretty widely varied difficulty settings and all original artwork and music. imo it’s simple, easy to pick up and go, and a lot of fun :3
a lot of the characters are cute and quirky, and there is plenty of solid shoot em up/bullet hell content.

Rouge Patrol
The war between Rouge and Bleue has gone beyond either nation’s capacity to wage it. First they drafted the men and then boys… women were conscripted in turn. Now, with all spent - and surrender unthinkable - the grinding machine of war has turned to girls.
Fourteen years old, Sergeant P.G. Tails has lost everything to Bleue and will stop at nothing to achieve their destruction. But, as she leads her unit into the unending conflict, she begins to realise that the price of revenge may be paid, not by her, but the girls she has come to love. Worse, she carries a secret that puts her in more danger from her friends than her enemies…
Description
Rouge Patrol tells an epic and heartfelt story about friendship, loss, and a young girl’s conflicting drive to avenge what’s been taken while preserving what remains. You will take on the role of Sergeant P.G. Tails and, through a fusion of visual novel and stat-raiser mechanics, explore a branching and perilous narrative.
Each member of Rouge patrol has her own history and interrelationships. But, as their commanding officer, your choices will determine their future. Form friendships with any or all of them, but balance socialisation against the pressures of maintaining your found family’s ability to survive the missions you lead them into.

Synergia
Developer: Radi Art
Publisher: Top Hat Studios
Pros:
1. The story is an entertaining piece as it’s dark and gritty, while keeping itself levelheaded as it doesn’t exaggerate or downplay during the entire game.
2. The story’s uses an excellent mix of Cila’s development and surrounding conflicts of it’s dystopian world, as it involves humanism, rebellion, and human x android legalities.

Synergia is a Cyberpunk visual novel heavily reminiscent of Blade Runner and similar stories focusing on androids and their place in future society. It is set in an unspecified year on a desert colony planet, dominated by an oppressive state known as the Empire. The protagonist, Cila, is an operative and negotiator working in a special police unit tasked in dealing with malfunctioning or rebellious androids – a role that is a culmination of her troubled past and a painful fall from grace as a celebrated soldier in Imperial Spec-Ops formations. Demotivated and depressed, Cila barely manages to perform her duties and her miserable routine is only disturbed by her friend, Yoko, gifting her a replacement for her broken companion android – Mara, a machine that feels more human than most people in the corrupt city she lives in.

Void And Meddler
Truthfully, I love this game, and I have a lot of thoughts on it, so I apologize in advance for how long this is. I would like to note that I’ve only played through the first episode and only gotten two out of the three possible endings, so my review is based on that.
First of all, the art style and the graphics are incredible. I love the streaks of water that drip down my screen, and with that in contrast to the bright neon lighting in the background, it was so easy for me to feel engaged from the moment I saw Fyn’s room. My interest only grew with each new area I explored, and I’m just truly enthralled by the look of this game. It is unlike anything else I’ve ever played before.

EDIT - May 3 2016: i want to update my review to 8/10, because despite being initially disappointed by this game, I played a few more point-and-clicks and realized that this game really stands out among other games in that genre.
since my last review (see bottom), i have played this game through every scenario and achieved all the different endings (except for the normal ending, which i can’t seem to get despite guides). i also bought the soundtrack.
- this game has an unbelievably haunting and memorable soundtrack. definitely worth the purchase. the music is truly unique and sticks with you. great as a standalone purchase and you can preview it / listen to it on bandcamp.
