Explore the depths of our Dungeon and uncover the mystery of the great elimosphere that has spread corruption throughout the realm. Also a little footnote here, the corruption is not from the asbestos, we listened to your feedback, it is all gone now, so please stop leaving negative reviews.

Be prepared to spend roughly 2 hours during your Immersive first person guided tour in our Dungeon. I will provide some light snacks and liquids (primarily crab juice). I will not be responsible for any dehydration, so it is in the agreement upon entry to drink the crab juice.

Fantasy Grounds Unity

The Skinny:

Easily one of the best programs on my computer and just keeps improving itself. More detailed below.

The Thick of thing:

I began looking for an online resource to start playing Pathfinder remotely, as I only knew a handful of people who played and they lived all over the place. I started with Roll20 and stayed there for a year. During my tenor there I had to keep restarting things on every new game I made. I could not use the same assets without bringing them in again to the new map, and eventually started paying subscription to gain abilities to automate and utilize the feature that made life easier. Content creators were great (independent artists and such) but I began to realize the subscription model was going to make me pay more than any other game I owned. So I started looking at ‘competitors’ which I learned there were many.

Fantasy Grounds Unity (FGU) is a special case. It has a lot of downsides; however, FGU is the only product that provides flexibility, official support, automation, and most importantly regional currency support.

On the bright side; FGU runs on the local machine. The GM can use whatever maps and props he likes. It is also possible to make modules and share them. I can make an entire adventure including images and tokens and just send the file to a fellow GM or move characters between campaigns. I can run 50000 different campaigns and the best of it, once I purchased FGU, it is mine to keep. The official support is also great. You just buy the system once and it is yours. Most of the settings are updated with new features. If you are following a rather popular system, there are tons of adventures and if you are a DIY person you can make your adventures. The FGU also comes with 11 RPG systems and starter info for the most popular syste. Unofficial support is also plenty, there are a lot of unofficial RPG system files out there. You can also port or make your own system. With FGU, the sky is the limit.

In Darkness

I’m liking this game so far. I rarely do reviews but I thought I would on this game. I thinks it’s quite unique and being a Ratling is different kind of character that personally like. Most evrything seems to be wrapped up pretty tight and the fact that it’s early access means more on the way. Keep up the good work.

Camera feels very close to the ground and at a very steep angle, makes me feel like im staring at the dirt.

Please add an option for camera distance at least.

Also the first mission in the air ship is buggy as hell, keep getting stuck on nothing and dying.

Other than that, pretty good game.

Tabletop Adventures

Tabletop Adventures

Tabletop Adventures is meant to look and feel like an actual role-playing environment that you would setup at home and play with pen & paper, dice, miniatures, map tiles, and imagination. The game uses familiar rules systems and takes you through a generated story with random changes to make things unpredictable for maximum replay-ability. Since the game is single-player, you won’t have to find friends with flexible schedules in order to start playing. You control 4 heroes and partake in a voice narrated story in a video game that emulates tabletop board game actions. This is not meant to replace your favorite role-playing game, but to get you through the week while waiting for your next tabletop adventure.

Wildshape - Map Editor (free demo)

Wildshape - Map Editor (free demo)

Definitely would recommend giving this map editor/VTT a try if you’re running campaigns with your friends either online or locally. It is best used with a second monitor to have as indicator for what your players see.

The tool sports the most visually impressive map editor I have come across, and whilst the VTT features definitely still need some work to be considered top of the line, they are certainly usable and enjoyable. I am a first time DM, and am very much looking forward to utilizing this tool for a long time to come if it is kept up in the same pace as it has so far.

Absolutely love it. The level of realism and natural beauty you can create with Wildshape is simply unmatched. To me, Wildshape is a simulation for those insanely detailed real world battle map models you see at your local geek shop, but it’s here, on your screen with loads of assets, and textures to bring it to life without ever touching a bottle of glue.

I own several map makers, such as dungeondraft and arkenforge. This is entirely a different product, and with that there is a learning curve. Expect to spend time getting used to creating in a 3D space as it’s not going to be simply drag and drop like other 2D applications (for obvious reasons). So yes, takes time to learn, but the pay off is huge.

Goblin’s Shop

Goblin’s Shop

I tried to get into this game, but ultimately put it away.

The premise is that you are a shopkeeper for the monsters who fight humans. You progress in experience points not by fighting but by shop keeping. You can designate VIPs to do the fighting for you when you collect resources to craft items for your shop. I like this premise, but there are several things about the game I don’t like.

Progressing through human territory means discovering new materials and new crafting recipes. But the rate of discovery outpaces the slow rate of craft mastery. By the time I’ve mastered crafting level 2 weapons/armor/potions, I’m already on level 4 materials in the human world. Obtaining mastery of crafting is a big grind.

15 hours in, just trust me when i say make a pass on this. Lots of irritating things in this game, once you get to the point i am its just a HUGE grind. Hell its nothing but a grind, typically games like this you want to be able to walk away for a few mins and see some progress but there is none.

Honestly this is just an idle game w/o the idle mechanics and after 3hrs you will find yourself regretting you bought this.

I bought on sale for $5 and still not worth it!

The Red Prison

The Red Prison

This game has already given me a place to improve my skills and understanding of Dungeons and Dragons, using 5th edition rules. Right now, I am learning about the fighter class, fighting style, and abilities such as second wind.

Also, the developer is very responsive.

If you like Dungeons and Dragons this is a game to add to your collection. It is a “rogue like” that is set in 5e Dungeon’s and Dragon’s, lots of in game depth for being such a lite game. It brings the player multiple choices of races, classes, abilities for specific classes, stat customization, and pregenerated character’s if you want to open and go.

I am very pleased with the game, and look forward to what this developer contributes to this game with future updates. Simply put a great, fun, pleasing, game to play. Thank you.

NetHack: Legacy

NetHack: Legacy

The greatest computer game ever made, now with the convenience of Steam!

As others have pointed out, there are many ways to play Nethack for free and they’re all good. I paid less than £4 for this version and I think that’s a fair price for the dev to port it to Steam and add some slight effects. I bought my very first version, too. Technically I was probably paying for the floppy disk it came on, but this feels like a similar non-violation of the spirit of the nethack license to me.

So I’m now nearly fifty, and for half of my life,

I’ve been playing Nethack, and its' earlier strains-

Its' code is the Deepest, and sharp? Like a knife.

Your brawn will clear fights but to Win you’ll need brains.

Don’t let the ASCII view make you hard shy,

Four Decades of coding bring Reason and Rhyme-

This game holds such Joy but will still make you cry-

But the journey, the Journey! The Dive is Sublime.

The sheer depth of the Game makes it rise above all,

This tabletop will change the way you play your online sessions forever.

If you are a DM and felt at any point that your sessions were “flat”, that combat was lacking the 3d aspect, or that your maps were not detailed enough, you need to get this.

If you are a player and you appreciate when the DM had a table with an impressive set of walls, traps and miniatures waiting for the game session, you need to get this.

If you at any point looked at your game board, and said. I’d love for it to be as impressive as videogames, with animations and lights, you need to get this.

This program is amazing, and it has allowed many in our group to get into D&D that never would have before. We’ve been running a campaign for a few weeks now, and it has been a blast using this program. We all live far away from each other, so getting together was not an option, but the visual aspect of this game has helped some of our players enjoy D&D that never would have enjoyed sitting around a table and playing.

This game is also a huge money saver. For $25, you get to create all these maps and have access to so many minis, which would cost a fortune getting real ones from Dwarvenforge (for example, an unpainted cottage stone set on there is $40, that’s just the cottage).

Alluris

As you can see by my hour count, i have really enjoyed playing this game. To me this game is simple yet sophisticated. when i say simple I mean anybody can pick it up, all you have to do is be able to read. However, this game is also sophisticated because when you get into the later stages of the game, you have to keep track of all of the major options you chose and with the variety of this game, there are a lot of story developing options.

This game is perfect for anybody who feels like they need to get their creative side running again, or anybody who likes D&D should also love this game. This game is suitable for all ages and anybody can come and enjoy it.

PROS: Colorful artwork; humorous story telling; classic genre references from movies and literature; many different ways to get to endgame; not system requirement intense; great value; easily turned into a house party game

CONS: Once towns are overrun, all quests and quest items in that area are cut off; each action (no matter how insignificant) burns a day

As a lover of “choose your own adventure” and casual game play, ALLURIS has won a place in my heart. This beautifully illustrated card-style RPG offers hours of game play for a very reasonable price.
