Going Under
A neon drenched sugar coated cartoon comedy rogue like with a heart of rainbow.
According to the store page tags, this is an action roguelike dungeon crawler beat ‘em up. I’d say that’s a fairly accurate description. We play heroic intern Jackie Fiasco, and it is her job to descend into the subterranean levels deep beneath her new office to confront and defeat the nasties that dwell there. This involves travelling into “dungeons” beating up lots of crazy characters, and slowly unlocking new perks and skills which can then be utilised in subsequent runs.

Safe to say I really like this game if I’m looking at another dozen or so hours to get the final trophies.
Going Under is a 3rd person action rogue-like where you go through procedurally generated dungeons over and over, slowly getting more powerful to make it easier to bash and beat goblins and skeletons and demons oh my. Now, this is a well-trod path that a lot of popular games have done before so does Going Under do enough to stand out?
Most definitely.
You play Jackie Fiasco, an unpaid intern in a megacorp run Pacific Northwest, starting her first day at Fizzle; a new startup making a carbonated beverage to replace breakfast, lunch and dinner. Unfortunately, as you see a goblin steal some office supplies, your new boss sends you into the dungeons to defeat the employees of failed startups that hide underground. There’s more to it than that; it tells a simple plot and story but does an incredibly good job at satirically poking fun at techbro culture, modern office crap and capitalist conglomerates. It’s often not subtle but bluntly derisive in all the right funny ways. Jackie and her coworkers are actually pretty amusing and engaging characters and anyone who has worked a dead-end awful job is going to repeatedly feel pangs of sympathy for what they have to go through. The characters, the world, the dungeons are all really well done so that everything feels part of this well-designed whole that keeps you in the game. It’s just absolutely charming.

Devious Dungeon 2
As usual, Woblyware delivers fun pixel graphics for enemy units and NPCs. This game is a good sequel to Devious Dungeon 1. Definitely an upgrade. The first game was way too easy. In Devious Dungeon 2, the enemies are a little more challenging and that makes the game more fun. I still don’t understand the scatter of coins. It is the same as the first game. The coins fly all over the place. So annoying. I never understood why the first game had it and I was hoping it would be fixed in Devious Dungeon 2. But it’s not. Your precious coins will keep flying into spikes. Would have been good to have the coins drawn to you automatically like the magnet feature that some games have.

It’s true that this game is based on a previous one, obviously the one called the “Devious Dungeon”. But so what? The core gameplay is the same as always – it’s your next door platformer. This time it has a twist – you can select one of three heroes, slightly altering the gameplay. We have a Barbarian (with incoming damage reduction), a Rogue (with double jump ability) and a Wizard (with levitation spell). Tell me, when did you play a platformer with such a feature? Jazz Jackrabbit 2? Well… It’s from 1998… Yea, I know – there are others ;) I’m just trying to point out that it’s rare, ok? So let’s move on. I chose Rogue, and it was… fun ;) I could avoid most of the traps, it gave me a degree of freedom. On your way you gain cash and experience, which means you can upgrade your hero. I ended up with 100+ damage per standard hit and 60-something critical hit (double damage) chance percent… And yes, I bulldozed last half of main bosses. The last boss barely made me pass 100 HP threshold on my side. The point is – in this game you can over-level a bit, so it’s always a matter of time when you’ll finish it. And you don’t have to beat it all at once – the are checkpoints to which you can travel, to continue your adventure or to decrease stage difficulty if the new one is too hard for you to beat it at given time. Overall it isn’t so entertaining that I would consider playing it again with another class. I haven’t even unlocked all items and I don’t think I’ll play this game just to see what’s there. I beat it, have all achievements – and let’s stay at this level. Buy it if you liked the first game, like platformers in general – or you have some spare coins. It’s nothing special, nothing revolutionary, just few (more) hours of fun :) I enjoyed it from start to finish :)

Runic Rampage - Action RPG
As I always start my reviews, play the game in English and don’t watch the translations. The Italian one is awful like every other one, so let’s stick with English.
This one is an action RPG with good graphics - I love them, 3D and with a view from above which allows you to see enemies and everything that surrounds you, since the fights are those of a hack ‘n’ slash and you don’t have a party, but a single dwarf XD.
Price is quite high (7€) so, get it on sale if you manage to!
The gameplay is really great and 100% joypad supported, so you have lots of combos, lots of equipment upgrades and most of all you’ll never have to deal with many sidequests or paths.. it’s a straightforward game with levels and bosses of increasing difficulty (never too hard, actually) and for a game like this to me it’s really good!

I’ve put in only an hour and a half into the game, so take this review as an estimate of what you’ll feel like after that amount of time:
PREMISE:
There isn’t a ton of storyline to this, but there’s some. You’re a dwarf fighting to find your lost brothers and (I assume) become the hero your father wanted you to be. You have to conquer four Acts, each broken up into three chapters, each of which has three maps - except for the last, which contains a boss fight. You collect gold, which seems to accrue across death (ie. no gold loss upon getting squished). You also pickup single-use powerups as well as temporary bonuses from single use statues. Finally, you also get skill points, with which to level attributes (str, agility, defense and greed)

Next Up Hero
Saw a streamer I know play this and it looked interesting enough for me to buy during the February Steam sale. Since then I’ve been unable to put this game down.
Be warned, though, this is Early Access and it shows. Some of the menuing doesn’t work as expected, you can sometimes get stuck on screens, not all the ventures show, you can easily go out of bounds on some characters, etc. There’s also a variety of tuning issues, with the time trials requiring you to think with a speedrunner’s mindset, the sky is falling levels filling your screen with rocks that on the edge of the level can be hard to see, don’t be greedy levels that rob you of gaining precious prestige, and other things.

I was a bit shocked that with all of the negative reviews I would like the game as much as I did. I have been enjoying it quite a bit and have unlocked a bunch of heroes and created my own stages and so on. It is fairly enjoyable, I also enjoy the boss pushing mechanic as well. It is weird in that you are kinda supposed to die and build on your own defeat. The same goes for other people. If you have friends that play the game it does become way more fun as you can tackle dungeons in co op and also have more echos to use faster as your friends die playing your stages. I had no problem with it. The bosses have a lot of health but in roughly 4 tries if you know their mechanics you can take down their full health bar. The last time I tried I did it in 2.

Lost Castle / 失落城堡
this is only the second review i have ever wrote for a game and its my first good one. i just felt like i needed to take the time to make a solid shout out to the creators of this game. i bought this game a couple years ago for $10 USD. becuase i was looking for something to waste time for a day or two and it was so cheap. now granted i have been a gamer for over 30 years im an old gamer and i would say im not the best but im a 8/10 and enjoy hard games both pve and pvp . now about lost castle, this game is just great.

All right, I’ve played this game long enough to review it, and I’ve to say it has gone above expectations for an old school hack’n’slash where rng changes the playstyle in every game. Drawings and artwork is relatively simple but detailed, offering a good presentation, particularly bosses in their intros (it’s boring in the long run but they aren’t long or tedious and they can be skipped).
Pros:
-Game is fairly optimized, loading quickly and fps doesn’t drop even with a big number of enemies on screen even in old laptops.

Son of a Witch
Originally, I found this game on the the Nintendo store while browsing for local multiplayer games I could enjoy with my kids. I was drawn to it due to the above but also due to ts great art style and the randomness each game offered. Being an avid Diablo fan going on decades, this really appealed to me.
My three girls and I have a blast playing this and there are not a lot of buttons to remember so the basics are easy to pick up for younger children. I have beaten barbarian challenges with my 3 year old and shes even saved me! Although her favorite is the Alchemist so technically her “friend” saved me.

All around a great game.
TLDR: Magic has 10x more potential than melee and archery. the +1% magic per cast potion needs to be scrapped.
My only gripe with the game atm is that magic can be massively overpowered late game. I have finished all 7 acts (the last being the desert) multiple times now as a magic user, and probably wouldn’t have even needed to look at the screen to beat the final boss (which would be really hard as melee/archer).
The potion that gives +1% bonus magic everytime you cast a spell can be so easily abused. If you get it early on you can just hold onto a voodoo doll (or anything will a low magic cost) and spam it.
