Can’t wait to see this game in finished form. The early access dazzled me with amazing level design, the enemies look great and the boss fight at the end was really fun and challenging. Can’t wait to see what comes next.

A fast paced hack and slash with beautiful levels and a creepy atmosphere that left me wanting more. Will look forward to full release!

Designed to be “NES Hard”, this game does indeed feel like an homage to NES Castlevanias. Occasionally, depth perception was tricky due to the perspective, but overall, I like what the diorama-like presentation adds to the formula. I’m not quite done yet, but I’m a fan of the way the challenges progresses. I’d recommend this if you have the patience for some challenging rooms with potentially “cheap” deaths (depending on your perspective).

One of the more challenging games by the developer. I can’t really think of another game like this on Steam that combines platforming and the sort of action here, but it was decent to play.

gameplay review: fight stuff. that’s about it, if there’s other stuff to do i haven’t fount it yet

so i got a bunch of bugs:

game has crashed multiple times… at least it has autosave i guess?

graphics settings don’t save

if you level up multiple times from one monster (like you can from certain golems) you only get one skillpoint. didn’t check stat points, but that’s likely to have the same issue

seems like most areas only drop gear with extremely low levels. so the only place to get high level gear is the shops… sometimes. as a side effect, there’s no way to earn zs quickly, so high-level gear in shops quickly gets prohibitively expensive

I played for about an hour today and so far it’s pretty good fun. The maps are large and it is really an experience getting from point a to point b. I do wish there were keyboard character controls, but that could be something for when this comes out of Beta. I did have an issue once where I was being attacked by an invisible enemy and another glitch were things stopped attacking me all together. I’m looking forward to playing more. The voice acting so far is really really good. I’m excited to get the part I voiced.

I can’t see the entire window of the game. The weapon upgrade button is off the visible screen for my computer. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Interesting game but unfortunately the game breaking bugs make this game not enjoyable at all. The second boss (WebNav) spawns the bubbles inside its shield so is impossible yo kill it. When you defeat all the USB spawners (WebNav boss again) the camera changes making the boss just a chore.

The Caretaker - Dungeon Nightshift

The Caretaker - Dungeon Nightshift

Sprinting around sprucing up a traditional RPG dungeon is the objective that The Caretaker - Dungeon Nightshift offers you, much in the spirit of other post-carnage housekeeping simulators such as Viscera Cleanup Detail. You’ve got garbage to throw in the incinerator (the game’s insensitive term for the remains of murdered adventurers), treasure chests to restock and spike traps to reset, all before the sun comes up and another day of bowel-rupturing terror commences.

However, the stringent time limit is the least of your worries here as you work against both a noise meter, easily raised by a combination of constant sprinting and the howling of the resident monsters that you must keep quiet with regular feedings, and the giant spiders that crawl along the dungeon ceiling who will insta-kill you should you make the mistake of jogging under them.

The Fortress of Varnolis

The Fortress of Varnolis

personally hate puzzles, but can appreciate the style and atmosphere which are amazing. Can see this being a perfect game for a person who loves puzzles. For that i will put this as a recommended.

The “Old school” horror game save system i hate, like losing a lot progress after failing. Literally Was looking what to do next and randomly ran out of air/breath(?) and died. This put me back another 10-20 minutes and will happen every time until i find what to do. This to me is not a fun design.

Adventure Field™ 4

Adventure Field™ 4

TL;DR: My view on this game might change after I beat it, however for now, I don’t recommend this game unless you are okay with highly repetitive and shallow gameplay.

The game feels… very shallow. It feels like one of those mobile games made with Unity by amature indie devs. As far as I have experienced, the game does not have many content.

Enemies are the same one over and over again, dungeons are just the same maze with doors that only differ in layouts, NPC dialogues are mostly the same, 90% of side quests just require you to bring them certain items, story and characters are bland (the game is clearly made in Japanese and the translation although much better than machine translation, so feels a bit awkward. I tried looking for a way to switch to Japanese language, but it seems like the game only offers English, which is strange).

This game has a lot of potential! Feels like an old school RPG with a puzzles, strategy, and exploring. There are grammatical and spelling errors which I would have no problem helping out with (for a small fee of course ;) ) Overall the game has a lot of depth, good music, and some minor mechanical issues. If you are looking for a break from the latest RPG maker rehash this is a great buy.

Der Geisterjäger / The Ghost Hunter

Der Geisterjäger / The Ghost Hunter

You know the expression “handling something with kid gloves”?

Yeah, Der Geisterjäger does - except its “kid gloves” are boxing gloves with horseshoes in them.

Basically, DGJ is a mecha dungeon crawler that not only isn’t afraid of being “unfair”, it actually incorporates savescumming as a canonical ability for your main character - something like precognition from Katana Zero, if you will. “This is only a dream” is a sentence that, if you, like me, are not a particularly sharp tactical mind, you’ll get used to seeing. A lot.

Real player with 20.6 hrs in game

Der Geisterjager is a lot like Der Geisterturm, but better in every way. More enemy variety, interesting environmental challenges, and new hazards to deal with that aren’t mines. Along with quality of life improvements you should expect from continued development.

The single most important change is the addition of the credit system, you gain money for killing enemies now and the credits allow you upgrade your RCS as you see fit at repair stations dotted about the dungeons, creating an agency that the previous two games lacked while providing a much greater replay value.
