clown town 1443

I’m just gonna say it, I honestly expected a lot worse going into this.

But I’m glad to say that this game certainly didn’t disappoint. Taking inspiration from the classic era of flash games, this game follows a well-established formula with a few extra strings attached. Simple but challenging, short and sweet, it is definitely worth picking up.

While the graphics in some aspects may be somewhat crude, it adds so much to the overall charm the game brings. The gameplay is solid and enjoyable, as physics are used very well to give the car a sense of weight and velocity. Although it is only 10 levels long for the main game, it can be very challenging at times. Especially with the 10 bonus levels you get from getting a high enough score in the endless mode.

I bought clown town 1443 because the developer was in a random unrelated Twitch stream dropping Steam keys out of nowhere. That kind of guerrilla marketing appealed to me and so I decided to purchase the game instead, and that isn’t just me coping for not being fast enough to snag one of the keys despite how generous the developer was in giving them.

As a big Friday Night Funkin' appreciator I have a soft spot for games that are basically love letters to Flash classics, and this game is very clearly wearing its Trials influences on its sleeve. There’s a bit more to it than just a straight clone, as this game features a bit more depth to its mechanics, such as a heat bar that must be managed. You’re free to bump around generally as much as you want, but if you overheat from too much acceleration you temporarily lose control of your vehicle. Crash in this state, and you’ll have to restart the level again.

For all of us that comb our first grey hairs and love racing games, there was a golden age that we remember fondly and that’s when SNK published racing games for their console, the Neo Geo. Games like Over Top (the spiritual successor of the legendary Thrash Rally) and Neo Drift Out came as a breeze of fresh air on a console that was particularly known for its fighting games. Also, one of the arcade kings of the era was World Rally, from Zigurat. These games incorporated a very characteristic isometric view and were known for their excitement, full of adrenaline infused speed that made each race exciting and unforgettable.

```A recommendation with some reservation.
- Pleasant 90's PlayStation1-like presentation
- Great arcady music
- Great announcer voice actress (she needs more lines)
- The drifting sounds like Ridge Racer :D (overall the sound effects are pretty good)
- The cars look bright and colorful, also much like Ridge Racer or Auto Modelista (the look of the cars makes this game attractive at first glance)
--- at first i did not expect anything from this game i started of with a simple main menu saying that i had a ridiculous amount of points and i thought its one of that games after that i played it was kinda good but not perfect at all for example you could just speed up on the middle of the road and just blast through endless. its a racing game…well kinda but fun for a while recommend *– [Real player with 3.9 hrs in game](* --- ![80's OVERDRIVE]( "") ## 80's OVERDRIVE This is not the Outrun you're looking for. 1\. The stage themes are nice, bright, and colorful. However, there's 36 stages and only about 5 themes so it gets old fast. 2\. You can buy different cars. However, they are all the same when upgraded so there's no reason except that you like the way one looks. 3\. There's 18 different songs. However, they are all forgettable and there's no option to play them randomly. 4\. If you stick with one car and just upgrade it, the game is really easy until the end when the opponents are just flat out faster than your fully maxed out car. *– [Real player with 18.0 hrs in game](* This game is a new contender among tributes to the 80's and early 90's arcade style racing games. The game plays like a mix of Outrun and the Lotus series. Buying and upgrading new cars works in a bit of a Road Rash fashion, meaning that you have to grind races to earn money which in turn allows you to keep buying more stuff. There isn't much to differentiate between the available cars, which all seem to drive pretty much the same. A bit of a missed opportunity there. 80's Overdrive's entire look is decidely retro in the graphics department which works out nicely, colors pop on screen and the entire 2D style reminds me of something that wouldn't have felt out of place on Sega's Saturn system back in the day. At the start of the game you pick a driver and a car. The driver is just a character portrait, there is no story and there are no interactions at all between you and your opponents before or after races like there is in Road Rash for example. This kind of sucks, because you would expect something like this to be there after seeing all the different characters. There's work that obviously went into creating these, but nothing is done with it. Again we're coming across a fair bit of missed potential here. *– [Real player with 14.4 hrs in game](* --- ![IRON WORLD]( "") ## IRON WORLD ![]( You have come from outer space to the destroyed Earth. You are a person from the past in a harsh and inhospitable world… The IRON WORLD. Can you survive? #### **Your cool car** Driving your personal car in events on the global map. Always transport your stuff in the trunk. Shoot enemies with a turret or crush them. #### **Explore the world** Before you is a big ruined world. You are free to go wherever you want. Mountains, wasteland, towns and farms. Realistic layout of houses and attention to the interior. What is waiting for you around the corner? Create your own adventure. ![]( #### **Uncompromising fights** Dynamic and bloody battles. Move, use shelters, arrange ambushes, use power-ups to survive and defeat outnumbered enemies. #### **Tactical AI** The enemies will seem smart to you. They will find you by the noise and look for you if you have disappeared. Be sure, they will find you and surprise you. #### **Dynamic field of vision** You will not know who is in the house until you go inside. A sense of uncertainty and danger around every corner. #### **Visual style** Carefully recreated atmosphere of the apocalypse and devastation. A large number of details on the locations. The original hand-drawn style of graphics. #### **Craft** Collect resources in houses, berries and mushrooms growing in the world. Create food, ammunition and power-ups from them. Good nutrition is the key to success. #### **Characters and humor** Meet colorful NPCs in cutscenes, dialogues and quests. We tried to make the characters bright, not devoid of black humor and sarcasm. --- ![Rick Rack]( "") ## Rick Rack Clever game, great sound track…. but many idiot drivers. *– [Real player with 1.9 hrs in game](* Don't let the simplicity fool you about this game. It's actually a really fun game where you control all the cars in a time loop so you have to drive your car's path to it's destination smartly so the cars don't collide. Great concept and soundtrack! This game is very enjoyable and worth you time. *– [Real player with 1.4 hrs in game](* --- ![Sparks - Episode One]( "") ## Sparks - Episode One It’s a small arcade racer with a nice family friendly, and cartoony look, and ambient. Gameplay is good, and the game is polished. I like the tracks, especially the last one, and I like the music. If you are looking for a family friendly arcade racer, then this game is for you. *– [Real player with 0.9 hrs in game](* Sparks - Episode One feels like racing toy cars. It has to be said that it is not a very in depth racing game, and doesn't have many tracks to race on. That being said, this game's focus is more about a casual experience than most other racing games, and includes pleasant music that is unique to each level. Considering that the focus is more on the experience, I would have liked to see more track options for the player (for instance, perhaps changing the race from day to night, which would might the headlamps more useful, or racing in different weather), and car customization would have been nice as well, though there are several cars to choose from. *– [Real player with 0.4 hrs in game](* --- ![Barro Racing]( "") ## Barro Racing TLDR at the bottom. To start off, I've played with all Barro games and I liked them. However, this one is really bad. Basically, you calmly go on the track, and an opponent randomly bumps into you, from which you go straight into the wall, where you can't get out from. If you try steering, it won't work. ~~If you try going backwards (like in Barro 2020), you'll realize that it's no longer a feature.~~ _EDIT: Its actually a feature, it was just set to the wrong joystick._ ~~The only way to get out is to respawn.~~ And because all the bots are close to each other (till the end of the race) you'll be in the wall frequently. And one respawn takes about 1.5 seconds, which is enough for everyone to overtake you. *– [Real player with 3.9 hrs in game](* Minimalist racing game. Even though there is not a lot of content, the game feel is good, playing this game is enjoyable. Also, it is quite cheap, so do not hesitate to give it a try ! *– [Real player with 2.1 hrs in game](* --- ![Desert Pirates]( "") ## Desert Pirates ![]( Lead a **post apocalyptic war convoy** made out of badass cars driven by unusual characters. Travel across a dangerous and endless desert filled with resource seeking opponents. In this experience inspired by movies like **Mad Max** and **spaceship roguelikes**, you can expand and improve your convoy, find new cars and swap out their weapons and tools, upgrade, repair and refuel them, feed drivers and give out orders to help everyone survive. How far can you ride? ![]( #### Features * **Unlock and collect badass cars**: Find cars to restore in every run, and store them in your garage for later use. The desert is filled with hidden surprises! * **Make runs with different convoys**: Change your Convoy to fit your playstyle! Choose between Soldiers with Nitro, Heavy Soldiers with special weapons, start with additional food or gas, special systems like Shields, Radars, Decoys and more! * **Survive the desert**: You will need to destroy enemy settlements in order to get the resources you need to repair and refuel your cars, and to keep your followers fed and hydrated. * **Give orders to your Convoy**: _Stay together_, or _split up_! Changing orders on the fly can give you an advantage against your enemies. Light **RTS** mechanics are gaining traction during development (stay tuned!). * **Classic Roguelike Features**: Permadeath, Upgrades, procedurally generated areas. Every playthrough is different. ![]( --- ![Synth Retro Vapor Wave]( "") ## Synth Retro Vapor Wave its a great game, surpised my GTX 970 works, but the card is pushing at 98% game runs smooth, tried with AI cars, co pilot, all maps seem to work, game settings work with the card i have, this game is alot like what i have on my phone except you can choose to have an open road or traffic, an idea for you is you can have the tracks react with the music, that seems to be fun, i love the idea where this is heading, a map idea you can add i like to see is as you drive you can have lights light up around the track, they ccan change colors, shapes etc. that be cool to see smthing like that react to the music you listening to with awesome trippy effects, *– [Real player with 5.9 hrs in game](* One of the most relaxing games I have played.
