Til Nord

Til Nord

Nominated as Game of the Year!

Til Nord is fabulously beautiful and a lot of fun.

The feel of the ride is quite good, though it seems more of my wipe-outs should be killing me when they’re not. When a wipe-out is as funny as it is in this game, I wouldn’t mind seeing a few more of them.

The ‘missions’ you are tasked with are fun, if few. The races are all quite fun and a bit challenging, but not overly so.

The scenery is incredible; just don’t give it close-up scrutiny in most places. Take in the full view, which is jaw-droppingly amazing.

Driving a snowmobile through snowy Norway. An enjoyable experience for free!

Explore!

In Til Nord you are free to explore the snowy Norwegian mountains. There is a mission-chain which can be spotted easily by the huge vertical waypoints, that the game uses to guide the way. The missions explore most of the area.

There are also races, that unlock other races when you finish with any time. All races also have an achievement for beating a certain time. This time is pretty sharp, and gives a true challenge to beat! The only time we couldn’t beat was the ‘junkyard race’, while some took many attempts.

Wheels of Aurelia

Wheels of Aurelia

Some people complain that there’s no innovation in the AAA games anymore, just TPP loot crafting shooters with stealth elements. Well, on the other side we have Wheels of Aurelia that is trying super hard to look like nothing else, combining a racing game with visual novel. Too bad it fails at pretty much everything it tried to do.

We’re a rebelious women that doesn’t need no man, a feminist (or the one that only looks like one) that picks up another chick at the disco. Both then decide to have a long ride to France along the Via Aurelia road, having all kinds of topic to talk to - abortion, kidnappings, abortion, family issues, music, feminist movements, traditional values, abortion etc. If I’m being not clear enough, the game has a statement to make, and the year of the game isn’t random. It encapsulates two main events from 1978 that have taken place in Italy - Moro kidnapping and legalisation of abortion. Both of these topics will be pretty much on our tongues no matter where we’ll ride or what hitchhiker we take next. No matter what you’ll get ‘strong independent womyn’ vibe from the protagonist, Lella, that is as rebelious as annoying. Every once in a while you’ll have an option to pick up a topic for conversation or your passenger will ask you a question about another topic. These can then be answered in one of two ways, and it can be summarised by ‘yes’, or ‘sarcastic yes’. Many topics present no real input on the conversation, your answers will always be in the spirit of the defined character, later even called a communist. Opinions of your character will always be skewed in one way - someone said something controversial and you want to disgree? Nope, you can either agree or say something mildly controversial too. Question about abortion is a prominent example - you can say it’s either just a medical operation or it might be a traumatic experience. Other time you can say that men are no longer needed. The whole story feels like it’s been written by a raging feminist who tried to put as many leftist ideas as possible. Later in the game (as 10 minutes later) you can ditch your friend for different kind of passenger, a priest or a has-been race driver, and these conversations aren’t that bad, but first couple of runs you’ll probably keep Olga till the end and you’ll get sick of woke comments.

This is not a game. It’s a visual novel, with somewhat mature topics. (TL;DR: read the last paragraph in my review.)

If you are curious about the driving sections… They are extremely basic, they’re just a mildly interactive background scenario for dialog choices.

In this visual novel, you have the following kinds of control:

  • Pick which car you want to start with.

  • Pick one of three dialog options when asked. (Or don’t pick one, and go with the default answer.)

  • Choose between stopping to give a ride to hitchhikers.

Abducted: The Night Hunters

Just read!

It’s so sad to see the good game being completely unknown. Perhaps you’re not sure about quality of this game. I understand, - it only has a few reviews, and yep, it’s only made by one person, which usually means that the game wouldn’t be good enough, but this one… is surely exception. Frankly speaking, i also thought it’s going to be something typical, like most of modern indie horror games. And yet, “i gave it a try”, and completely changed my mind. This game is awesome, and here’s why:

Mad Combat Marines

Mad Combat Marines

Mad combat marines is the latest game from Freezenova. And I have to say its really good. Its cheap to buy and you get a lot for your money. Graphics are great, very stable gameplay, cars drive great with smooth controls, Maps are large with plenty of hiding places for sniping and very pleasing to the eye with the good colours. You can choose what colour kit your marine uses. AI is intelligent in this gameIts a third person shooter and although I’m mainly a FPS gamer I actually really enjoy this. I hope this takes off and we get more players involved.

Real player with 9.4 hrs in game

I like the big picture. It mixes a third person shooter with cars and has simple but funny combats.

Don’t get wrong ideas, this isn’t a GTA.

This is a humble game that gets its point: everyone has the same weapons, can do the same actions and get to the top score, be it on kills or events.

I think there is space for lots of improvements, such as balancing the RPG weapon, giving less ammo for every live and maybe you could get some of the victim spoils of war. Also the sniper rifle isn’t worth to be used at any point, since its damage is low compared to other weapons and it’s easily dodgeable. Neither pistol is worth being used. Jump should also get some nerf because it’s really hard to hit people jumping all the time freely. Cars should be more resistant and be able to take more shots of all weapons (even RPG) before it explodes; also cars shouldn’t lose its speed after you trample someone. I miss a knife or punches or some melee combat. But the worst point I noticed is that you can’t change your weapon if you need to reload the current one.

Drive-By Cop

Drive-By Cop

Good game. Very simple but fun. Steering through actual motion controllers not recommended, better use thumbsticks.

Did not get motion sick by driving car and shooting bad guys. Car behaves like it should, wish for more different weapons and reloading options.

If you ask me ‘Drive-By Cop’ falls just short of being a fun little indie game. The idea is you drive around shopping at bad guys and sometimes bad guys in cars. There are no other weapons, the “bad guys” just kind of stand there and it lacks any form of excitement. But I do feel there is a bit of potential here because adding a few game modes like a balloon popping and maybe a Mario kart style battle multiplayer game and you could have something fun here. I can look past the Roblox graphics and lack of content if only the game is fun to play which sadly this isn’t. This is not something I currently recommend, but if I could have given it a neutral rating I would have.

Car Tuning Simulator

So far so neat. It’s the perfect game for me to chill with some phonk music on the background. I highly expect this to become a full playable and interactive game in the future, so far they’ve caught our attention!

First off… The game is absolutely worth the 99 cents. So one can go ahead and get it if they are curious.

The game itself is VERY limited. you can change body parts, rims, tires and steering wheel. on 4 models of cars.

Then take it to one of 2 maps. That is basically it.

NOW here’s some problems…. while running the night map, there are invisible object in the middle of the road. you can’t see them, but you will crash into them and eff up your car.

The day map in suburbia, cars seem to appear from no where as well.

Wrench

Wrench

I highly recommend this game because its not a game, it is an educational simulation, this game can teach you not everything, but.. but… a very large amount real life things on how an engine works, specifically the Mazda mx5 Miata engine, the parts in this game, like the engine, the oil brands+ other fluids, and engine kits, are for the most part are all real parts and real brands, this game I would especially would recommend this game to students who are in/or want to be in autos class. again, it wont teach you everything but I personally say it is close enough, closer than any other thing out there, I have experience in autos class and I have worked on the same engine that is in this game, and it is pretty spot on. and due to COVID-19, I think this would give a lot of students mainly speeking for high schoolers, giving them a chance to still have a way to have some hand on experience for those who cant go to school because of COVID-19. and I say “hands on” because it also can work with VR as well as without VR. VR is not required, but if you got a pair, give it a wack. lastly I want to end this review with a simple request to the developers. before the first major update, the was a feature that has now been remove, and I would strongly suggest that is was brought back. the feature was all the torquing instructions that shows a picture diagram with torquing information on each part that you are assembling. that was a very important part of the game that made it educational. if you could please bring that back to the game, like maybe make another item to add to the game like a torquing spec book, something that I can place next to the radio and open and flip pages to each section that I am working on, I would like to turn the page to find each diagram for whatever I am trying to put together. and thank you for taking the time to read this far down, there is much more in this game that I could not include every detail, this game can teach you not only engines, but keeping your shop clean and organized, and again much more. thank you and stay safe,

Bought this just over a year ago when it went into early access. After hitting just over 100 hours and with no sign of losing interest I thought I’d post this review. Full disclosure - I play this in desktop mode, not VR so can’t comment on the VR experience.

I’m not a mechanic IRL but I am interested in cars and learning about how things work. This is by far the best mechanic “simulator” that I’ve ever found.

At time of writing the progression is straightforward. You’re given a few jobs to choose from (change engine oil, replace spark plugs) for customers and if you complete the job successfully you get some cash and XP…the usual unlock through progression idea. Some jobs can take hours (rebuild the bottom half of the engine) where you have to drain oil and coolant, remove the transmission, extract the engine using the crane, put it on the engine stand…you get the idea. It’s very involved but because of that incredibly rewarding.
